Touareg :: 2007 - Ultra Low Speed / Random Brake Squeaking
Jul 24, 2008
My 07 FSI v8 w/16k miles; has a developed a ultra low speed, random brake squeak/squeal -- I notice it at when rolling up to the bank teller or Starbuck's, etc. Recently, my 07 v10 w/6.8k miles just started doing it.
I purchase a can of this this to try tonight : [URL] .....

I just did my brakes and now I have this squeaking noise when going over speed bump or on uneven surface at low speed. I figure that the springs was decompressed when the car was jacked up and it would settle back down when the car was lower back down. Its has been over a week now and the noise is still there.
By the way, I replaced with Hawk ceramic brakes and it's great. No NOISE and NO brake DUST.

Major squeaking noise started end of last week. Could it be the brakes? but no sensor warning light came on! 36K Miles.....
Service at 30K showed brake pads to be okay. I did my own inspection and agreed. I took it to the dealer this morning (I've always had problems with them so I'm used to having to fight and try to get a good price) Dealer says I need Fron Brake Pads (to me they still look okay) and this is what's causing the problem. I'm going to replace them and advised them to drive the car after completion to check the front Drive Shaft since this seems to be a problem with this vehicle.
Concerns: Brake Light sensor did NOT come on. Squeaking noise = Could be Front Shaft.

My 2007 ES-350 has 151K miles on it. Took it to a dealer until 120K and then found a really good mechanic that works on it now. It has been a great car but recently started having front end issues.
I was getting a bad vibration at 55 plus mph. That was a fiasco to get fixed. These are all the thing in order I had to replace to fix the vibration/shimmy over a 6 month period.
New Tires
Two new control arms
CV joints
Front left axle
Finally have the vibration/shimmy fixed. However, I started noticing a different problem some months back but was hard to diagnose with all the front end issues. Now that those are fixed there is a random flutter or shake that comes and goes depending on speed, if I'm going uphill or accelerating during a turn. It only happens when my foot is on the accelerator. It's often more pronounced at lower speeds. I asked them to check the struts and they said I had two that were leaking, but my mechanic thinks it might be the transmission. But I am only familiar with transmissions slipping in and out of gear. This is not the case. I have also noticed recently that it is coming more frequent and will soon be a consistent problem.

Bought my 2013 GX460 in Dec, 2012...approaching 3000 miles now. Everything is great, however, I have been hearing braking squeaking noise consistently under these conditions:
1) Low speed braking, such as approaching traffic light.
2) Low speed braking in cold morning (40 degree).
3) Low rolling speed, driving in parking garage
No noise under high speed braking.
Is this normal? I googled a little, saying that such noise is the result of high performance brake they put on the GX460.

After coming to a complete stop & starts driving again, I notice that the brakes squeaks a few turns & then stops. It seems that the brake calipers does not fully disengage from the rotors.

How to drop the roof panel on a 2007 ultra - luxury....have an annoying "cracking soon" at the top front area of the sunroof. It does not appear to be the sunroof as I still get the sound when the roof is open and I'm going over an uneven area...say driveway onto the road. I would like to have a look but don't want to damage the air curtain bags.

2007 SWB all stock. My break squeaks when backing up, specially backing down slope on a drive way. I also notice my right rear tire have tire wears which might be related to vibration at certain speed (like 76-80).....
Should I check the breaks? Alignment? control arms? Maybe time to search DYI on breaks and see if I can do it or not.

My son was hearing a bit of a squeaking on the passenger side. So I decided after some time to pull the front wheel. (most important brake). Well the pad wasn't moving on the outer guides (serviced it as required and lubed to get it moving). But the lower guide pin wouldn't move in/out. Needed to drift it out and it was very well rusted end to end. I put new pads on early as year I am sure and all was fine. I cleaned the pin on my wire wheel grinder. That lower pin had a collar near then end. Turns out its rubber, I thought it was a metal spring collar. Oh well the wire wheel did a number on it. I don't know the significant of that piece nor whether the pin is in the right place since the top one is different. I do these one at a time so its almost impossible I swapped them in the number of times they've been out.
I never seen so much tightening on any vehicle of pads and pins rusting in as on this vehicle. One has to wonder why. My vehicle also seems to have or what sound like a gear slap upon engaging in reverse or forward from front and back which is most notable after sitting and first engaged. Not every time but this is built in 2007 and there is a TSB for some washers. Hyundai Canada does NOT use the same TSB number they have their own. I talked to a dealer about it but he never indicated it would be the cause only its a different number. I am not impressed in this AWD drive power train. It needs a lot of TLC and the slap I hear is typically due to power train engagement play/slack being excessive most likely due to wear somewhere.. Even my rear sound off not a howl but noisy running which doesn't change with road surfaces so its not the tires. Maybe the AWD bearing or unit going. No of this should even remotely close to needed anything for at least another 100-150k at least.

It's a 07 prius with 65k miles. I realized that it is making this squeaking noise while going over bumps "ONLY" when the brakes are applied.
I have 2 toyota dealerships checked. 1st dealer said no noise and 2nd dealer also said no noise... then, i requested to drive with the mechanic and he somehow heard the noise while I am in the car.
I posted a youtube video w/ iphone video if you feel like hearing the noise...

Looking for a fix for the annoying squeaking noise often happening when depressing the brake pedal?
Dealer "bled" the brake actuator...did not work, said I need new actuators for 2.5k.... 2007 LS 460L ....

So I started hearing these random squeaking noises coming from the front suspension its what it sounds like. This only happens thou when i drive up into a drive way that is slanted. Or any kind of slow making slanted turns (~5-10mph)
I'm not 100% positive but it sounds like the suspension because it only makes noise when the car moves a little when ever i go up a drive way.

This happens to me again on a very hot day. The symptom is: all of sudden, the brake pedal becomes stiff. I mean I can only depress down the pedal just a little bit. Then when I want to accelerate, the engine works very hard and speed picks up very slowly. RPM will shoot to 3000. When I remove my foot from the gas pedal, the speed drops very fast. The car slows down much sooner than usual. So my feeling is the brake is dragging the car. The dealer cannot duplicate the problem during short test drive. So what can be wrong? The brake booster was replaced a few months ago. Is it possible it provides too much boost?

It's been 6 months since we've bought our Nissan Leaf, and we've concluded that we'll likely be driving our gas burner (2008 Infiniti G35x, 30K miles) only about 1,000 miles per year, about half of which highway and half on once-a-month trips around town to keep the battery charged, tires round, etc. The owner's manual indicates oil changes every 3 or 6 months (3750 or 7500 miles), depending on whether one follows schedule 1 or 2 (the former for short trips, freezing weather). This is presumably based on the synthetic blend the dealers use; we use full synthetic. If I follow the former, then that will mean changing full synthetic oil every 250 miles, about every three times the car is driven; that seems clearly crazy. Even every 6 months seems very frequent. The car is garage kept, so it's not clear to me how having the oil sitting in the crankcase is terribly different than it sitting in the bottles it's shipped in. Note that I'm not really trying to save money here, but rather the time and trouble to do this.

Bought my Prius about 14 months second hand . Despite 112 checks or whatever, within a few months the brakes were grinding. I took it to a local garage and they said the pads were worn to near nothing and replaced them all. They said I had scoring on the rear brake discs, so I replaced them too.
I got really back noise with the front brakes every time I used them after a few weeks. Took it back. Was told that the front discs needed replaced (and off course the front pads again). It was soon back to noisy and they replaced the front pads for nothing. The problem went away for a few days, then returned, but only a very low speed braking (or when putting the final squeeze.)
That garage tried a few things, then said it was my heaving braking glazing the pads, so they roughed them up. Problem hadn't gone. Add to this that the non-moving parts are really rusty looking, it looks naff.
Well, I took it to Kwik Fit having had some time to save some money for a proper fix. They would be happy to replace all discs and pads, but it'd cost abit. Called Toyota, they cost about the same. I left my car with Toyota yesterday pointing out the problem and a few other things I wanted fixing. I made it clear I felt the brake discs and pads were 'crap' and not Toyota and wanted them replaced. They said they'd inspect and do what was necessary.
Well, I've new windscreen wipers, they sorted out a separate problem and cleaned out the front brakes. According to Toyota there is nothing to stop those parts of the brake disc that aren't moving from rusting. They also said the discs and front pads were fine. Well, that squeaky noise is still there.
Why, after practically begging, did they not just replace everything? Is there any other possible explanation for the low braking speed squeak? Why don't brake discs not come with those parts not in contact with the brake pads painted so they won't rust?

I got my Touareg 2 months ago, and has been nothing but trouble. I also own a 1997 E39 BMW 528i, and I have never had so much problems with it in 8 years as with the VW in 2 months. Just plain terrible. There is now a strange problem, and it looks like the local service could not localise it properly.
My engine stalls at random. It usually happens at low RPMs, at a red light stop, etc. The engine usually goes bananas, the revs going up and down, and it looks like its choking. Sometimes switching to N and then pressing the revs up a few times works, but not always.
Sometimes the EPC and the triangle (exclamation mark) lights come up, but not always. It happened to me, that the engine just plain stopped.
It even happened to me when I was going slow down the hill in front of my house!!!
Can you imagine, initially I was firing up the engine with the button, having the key in my pocket.. And when the engine stalled, I lost all the servos, and the steering wheel just LOCKED!!!
I mean this is really serious. Since this happened twice, I am always using the key in its place... The local service just changed some electronics which supposedly monitor the engine RPM. It did not work...

I have a 1998 F-150 and I have a squeaking noise and I can only hear it when I am in in first gear at low speed and when I'm in reverse backing up and goes away when I press the clutch pedal. I'm thinking its either my U-Joints or Throwout bearing.

We bought my wife's V8 2005 Treg new in December of 2006. It had sat on the lot of the dealership with several others so they were doing what they could to get rid of them. Anyway, it has been awesome, with a few electronic issues, but the one problem that will not go away deals with the brakes. They squeak all of the time and the Treg only has 13,000 miles. It seems that it goes away right after a carwash, or if I intentionally brake very hard. The dealership has inspected the brakes and states that nothing is wrong and that this just happens.

I am getting occasional "check lights" warnings in my 2006 V8. I just exited warranty but complained several times of these warnings during the warranty period. Unfortunately, the dealer never found anything (and I am too busy to go into the dealer while the code is still in the system).
What it might be? I haven't ever actually seen a light out or anything, everything *appears* to be working. I even had both xenon bulbs replaced under warranty because they said that the bulbs in the first run of 2006 tregs were flagged for recall and they speculated that might be the cause of the warnings.

While braking at very low spreads (towards the end of a stop), I get squeaking with light pressure braking. Then, yesterday it finally drove me insane. It was a lot louder than normal. Only thing different was that it was alot hotter than usual. It would squeak, as I lift off the brake lightly (while still applying pressure) to inch the car forward in traffic. I had always noticed a faint squeaking, but its now louder than what I grew accustomed to.
The dealership who installed my brakes 9800 miles ago, says there was a glazing, And they can't fix it (polish), because it's drilled rotors.
