I have been hearing a rattle from the left side of the car. By accident I found that when the rear left sunshade is extended the rattle goes away. When it is retracted it seems to sit in the door frame perfectly. My 05 Treg has 5000 miles on it and I have had this problem for the last 2000 miles.
View 1 RepliesI have an 2005 VW Touareg. I purchased it 1 month ago with 8919 miles on it. I love the thing! However I have a rattle coming from the part that is below the passenger dash. The good thing is it only rattles when i hit a big bump, however when u pay 30k + this is the last thing you want to hear. See Pic. How to remove this black panel so i may fix it? Dealer was no luck the typical "I didn't hear any rattles" ....
View 1 RepliesThe rear drivers sunshade (the larger of the two, for the main window) goes up around three or four inches and then stops.
View 6 RepliesThe sunshade will go up when you push button but will not go back down when put in reverse or pushing the button. The control arms move about 2-3 inches and stops.

View 2 RepliesOver the last 6 months I've developed a rattle in the rear (possibly right side) that has become louder over time. During the summer months I crawled underneath to see if anything was loose but nothing obvious. Since it's winter now with several inches of snow I don't have any desire to go underneath again.
I'll assume it's not safety related but I did check the exhaust and or any shield and all seems tight.
Our 2005 Prius was side-swiped and now Electrical system is apparently locked due to safety feature ?
Even though car was (otherwise) very driveable we had to have it towed.
Is there a way to reset this?
A while back I posted a message about a humming sound that sounded like it was coming from the left side of the dash behind the left air vent.
I talked to the master tech from my local VW dealer and he tells me that the humming from the left side of the dash is not the CAN BUS. He says that there's a water pump high in the left front wheel well that is supposed to run as part of the engine cool process. He says it's not supposed to run during normal operation, but he has heard a LOT of complaints about the noise.
He suspects there will be a fix from VW given the number of complaints, but he says that it's normal and nothing to worry about. Just a little annoying.
I am having a problem with my 2007 R32 manual,over the last few weeks its developed a whining noise in what seems to sound from the rear left side,more so when driving around a left hand corner (weight is off the noisy side),or when i let my foot off the gas and let the car run,ive jacked it up and when I grab the back left drive shaft and shake it, I found there's a bit of play on the side going into the diff, there's 70000 miles on it and no problems to date, looking for some info on what problem could be?
View 6 RepliesI Have had my 99.5 jetta for 4 years now, car drives straight, no tire wear issues, but from day one I have noticed by looking in the wheel wells of both rear tires that the r/s rear is set back further than the l/s rear, l/s rear looks centered in the wheel wheel and the r/s rear looks to be back further and not centered, no evidence of any rear damage from a previous owner, car drives straight as an arrow , I'm stumped, all four tires have worn even in the past 3 years.
View 1 RepliesIt took a second trip to Koons Lexus of Wilmington to solve, but the rattle is gone.
It was a very quiet sound, which was only noticeable on smooth roads so it probably was caused by air moving the plastic panels in the wheel well. It took three trips around the block with the Service Manager and technicians to confirm, isolate and diagnose the sound ... driving over rough paving caused enough noise to mask the sound.
This time new clips were secured by screws that force them to expand and prevents them from loosening ... so we were told. Why it only affected the left rear corner and was so difficult to solve is unknown, but our truck is quiet again ... as it should be and as it has been for three years.
Any good fix for the door panel rattle caused by bass from the stereo? I've had the car to the dealership twice and it hasn't been fixed either time. It's not the door trim it's the actual panel, if you push right below and to the front of the arm rest it stops. Turning the bass down is not an option, if it's not meant to be up that far they shouldn't have made it that way. How hard is the door panel to remove? Also is there a fix for the seatbelt adjuster rattle?
View 8 RepliesMy wife drove her new (2000 miles) Prius 4 home (300 miles) with a rattle from the left rear. Dealers were totally unresponsive - either put me on voice mail or said I had to wait a week for an appointment. The third dealer I called said I could bring it in and they might take a look at it. Five days later I have a new shock and a bill for the rental car. Not what I expected from Toyota! I noted that one other person on Priuschat had a problem with a loose rear shock.

View 1 RepliesI was pulling out of the driveway and heard really loud snapping noise. Jumped out of the car expecting to see damage, but everything looked fine. I didn't drive over anything or hit anything.
Now, I notice that when my left front wheel goes over bumps and potholes there's this metallic rattle. Took it my mechanic right after and we both looked the front suspension over. Everything looks good. It does drive fine.
Just bought an '08 Avalon XLS (very clean) and noticed that the left front end sits lower than the right. Vehicle has 80,000 miles ..
I have a '13 Camry as well, and love this Avalon.
I've been following CL for quite awhile now. I recently bought a 2006 GS300 and have experienced the stuck rear sunshade issue which I believe is a common issue. Mine gets to go up and down but only halfway up. Tried many things such as spraying lubricants etc but didn't work.
So finally decided to take the rear sunshade assembly apart to see what was wrong. Taking it out was not as difficult as some mentioned. Rear seats, side airbag covers, rear C pillar covers, 3rd brake light and sensor then the back board and finally the sunshade assembly. Got in there in under 30 Mins.
Tried to understand where it got stuck initially by checking the arms Etc but all was good. Eventually decided to open up the motor assembly (black box) and check out the motor and gears. Motor worked fine but one of the large gears had a broken teeth. Tried many fixes but eventually decided to buy the toughest steel epoxy in the market. Glued the broken teeth back and let it sit for 2 days to dry out.
Put all things back in reverse order and it worked like a charm. I only managed to take some pics of the disassembly...
I tried to search for this, so I might be alone here, had a rattling noise coming from the right rear seat / seatbelt area?
View 24 RepliesSo I went to the car wash this morning and when I pulled into the stall I heard a somewhat loud rattle coming from my front drivers side wheel. It sounded like there were a couple stones in the cap that covers the lug nuts. That wasn't the case. It did it in reverse also. Before I take it to the dealer Monday morning. Its a 2011 F-350 6.7 Lariat 4x4 w. 32,000 miles. I also have have a little whine coming from the rear when I take off from a standstill.
View 4 RepliesMy new to me 04 W12's rear sunshade does not work. The fuse is fine but when I push the button the sunshade doesn't move at all and it doesn't make any sounds. Also, I have had the left battery on a CTEK charger for a couple days and the battery is fully charged.
View 24 RepliesAnyway to stop the rear sunshade from retracting when the ES350/300H is in reverse? I think that it's overkill, I can still see clearly. I have the backup camera and parking sensors, this actually irritates me all the time.
