Yesterday my MFI started displaying three dashes, with "mph" above them, and a speedometer icon next to it instead of the mileage icon when the car is moving. When stopped, the icon goes back to mileage.
View 11 RepliesYesterday morning my wife's JSW TDI wouldn't stay on after starting it. The screen kept displaying, "Key not in range". I swapped keys and every one of them did the same thing. It doesn't have keyless start, so it's not that. It would start then shut off like an immobilizer issue. I disconnected the battery terminal and reconnected it and that fixed it...for now. I did some research and everything I've found said the cluster needs replaced. I made a video of the display and the car shutting down.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2015 SportWagen S (Same radio as the Golf. This forum gets more traffic) and I had a few questions about the radio that I keep finding differing answers on. I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 9. I'm disappointed that the contact pictures don't work, but it seems that's an iPhone thing. I'm a little more disappointed that the album art doesn't work with my iPod connected with the MDI cable. I found some stuff about the file extension or size being the issue, but no definitive answers. Am I doing something wrong? I can't understand how VW could design a radio that doesn't work with what is overwhelmingly the most popular media player in the world. otherwise the radio is pretty impressive. Leaps and bounds above the one in my old '14 GLI. I only wish I could have gotten the '16 with CarPlay, but the '15 was a much better deal.
View 23 RepliesI picked up my GTI a few weeks ago and have been travelling a lot. I noticed that the HVAC units are displaying in C instead of F. I checked all other settings and they are correct. I even called VW Car-Net and they suggested a reset procedure which did not work.
View 5 RepliesEver since I've been using my SD card to play music, I have been getting an intermittent error that reads something like "Error reading SD Card" (I can't recall the exact wording). It seems to happen randomly, and sometimes I have to take out / reinsert the SD card a bunch of times before it reads it again...starts playing music for awhile...then gives me the error again.
It was mildly irritating at first, but now it seems to be happening more frequently and is downright maddening. Here are the details:
I have a 2011 GTI with the Premium stereo HU (what is that...the RDS-510?)
I am using a 16gb SDHC class 2 card
The error happens mid-song...not at the beginning or end of a song (so I don't think it's a particular file/s that is screwing things up)
I just received a new 7th Generation iPod Nano and it does not display album art on the head unit. It works when using my iPhone 6, but the Nano shows nothing...
View 4 RepliesI turned on my car and for some reason the radio unit isn't displaying anything. I can see the backlight come on, but there's no text. I can still switch between BT, CD, XM, radio, etc. but nothing is displayed. This is not a nav or touchscreen unit, just the one that comes on the base model.
View 6 RepliesFor the last 3 months I've been bringing in my vehicle in and out of the VW dealership trying to find out why once in a while when I turn off my my vehicle the accessory part turns back on by its self and error message displaying "Error: Brakes service now!" In the middle of the cluster & then the car turns off completely. The first time I brought it to the VW dealership they called corporate and they said to change the cluster so they did. Two days after I pick up my car the error message came back on. Took it for the 2nd time and they said that it was the gateway .
And one day later after picking up my car the error message came back on again. I'm getting tired bringing in my Golf R and not fixing this issue. What it could be? Just an FYI, It is a push start. Here's a quick video link so you can see what I'm talking about [URL] ....
Yesterday I reset the MPG on the odometer and today I notice the outside temp display only show the two dashes - - and no numbers. Did I messed something up? I read the manual but can not find anything about outside temp display ??
View 14 RepliesDoes your tire inflation psi reading ever randomly display dashes (-----) for a brief minute or so when first starting the engine before actually displaying the psi reading? I've had this happen a couple of times for no apparent reason that would prevent normal TPMS signal operation, but within a minute the dashes are replaced with the actual psi reading. I'm just wondering if this is a somewhat normal event to have happen from time-to-time.
View 5 Repliesdriving my '06 f250 last night, i noticed a couple random dots and dashes of orange on the warning light cluster. upon shining a flashlight on it, realized it's the ABS light (or what's left of it). there's literally 2 tiny sections of it visibly lit up. Upon shutting the truck off, and just turning the key on, I noticed the whole middle row in the warning light cluster isn't illuminating with the key on. top row (turn signals, high beams, "wrench") and bottom row all seem to illuminate fine during start up and key on. I'm mainly nervous that the check engine light could turn on and i wouldn't know. is it possible that one row of the warning lights could go out? and only partially? seems strange....

so on my way home the interior lights started to dim then out of no where the abs and traction light came on as soon as i pulled up to my house the headlights started to flicker radio shut off gauges flickered off and climatronic shut off now the cars dead would this be the alternator? Car is vf stage 2 supercharged....

I check the FAQ and did not see this question.

Nothing is displaying on the nav screen. I removed the MFD screen and inspected it can't find anything wrong with it the soldering looks fine. Is there anyway I can test the unit before buying one.

I got into my car this morning and saw a orange round with things coming off of it warning symbol. I think that this has something to do with a light out. I did not look but restarted the treg and puff gone. I looked in the OM but did not find it.

View 3 RepliesI haven't been able to find a discussion about failure or replacement of the oil level sensor. I'm getting a error message displayed each time I start the car. I took it into the dealer for an oil change. After they completed the change, they recommended replacing the sensor. I'm inclined to wait another 5k for the next service to do that. Diagnostics did not show any error codes. Doesn't make sense to me. just replace the sensor...
View 7 RepliesAll of a sudden, the compass is not displaying accurately. The repair guy at the dealership said to try driving the car in circles to reset it, but that just made me dizzy - didn't correct it.
Any other trick that might work? Or does this trick work if you drive in more circles than about 6 or 8?
I purchased used 2005 Avalon couple of months back, it was having after market stereo installed on it so it screw up the controls display unit for both audio and temperature. It actually turns on and display two lines and big F on left side.
So I want to know is there a way I can fix the display to show temperature settings. Temperature controls are otherwise working even from stereo it is just not displaying anything on stereo other than big F.
I have a 2009 Avalon that is displaying a Check Engine Light and a VSC light. Is it possible it is doing so because I have two different brand tires on the front hankook and the back Michelin?
