My wifes 04 v6 touareg make noises now like either a computer crunching files or an electrical fire is about to happen?? the weird thing is when i turn off the display on the dash thru the menu it stops making the noise ?? its not loud enough to hear with the stereo on but it is when its off. the sound itself seems to be coming from the center of the display area over the steering wheel.

View 14 RepliesHad crunching sounds from front passenger side. Replaced CVJ shaft and hub bearing/assembly noise gone but tire turns hard by hand drivers side turns freely. Looked on line and guy had same thing going on said maybe 4x4 vacuum actuator might be bad and truck stuck in four wheel .does this sound right? I have manual trans and gear box so I don't understand why the actuator is even there.
View 4 RepliesMy rear bushings on my 1997, A4 Audi, make a crunching thumping sounds when the body torques over irregular surfaces. My Audi mechanic says that it is the bushings. Replacing the A frames and bushings will cost more than half the car's worth. I belief that dust got into the bushings when I went on dirt roads in Death Valley or they are just worn. When I blast the bushings with water the noise disappears or dampens for a while. Car has 186,000 miles.To keep the noise down, can I add graphite or some other material to the bushings?

View 2 RepliesMy friend stopped into see me today cause he thinks I'm a VW guru. His LF tire was at 34 psi and the other 3 were at 44psi. Of course his low tire pressure light came on, but he told me he used to be able to see his tire pressure under the comfort portion of his computer display. He scrolled down to show me it wasn't there anymore. Where it went? He now knows why the light keeps coming on cause he has a leak. He should be able to monitor it I presume.
View 3 RepliesI posted recently because my '05 Touareg had been in twice for a "coolant overheating" error when the car was driven less than three minutes after a long cold start. They replaced the main computer and I had it back for a week and everything was fine. This morning, the same error occured. We took it in. When my husband drove it to the dealer, the warning went away after several minutes. They said that the error never logged on the computer and there's nothing wrong.
One person had responded last time with the sensor issue but got it resolved. I am really concerned about the possible problem that they can't seem to fix. They seem to be ok with it.
So I got my 2004 Grand Am about 2 months ago and noticed after about a week that the front right tire was low. I put air in it, came back to check it in the morning and it was down again. I had it looked at and was told that the tire was pulling away from the rim because of the rim eroding. He put some bead sealant on it and got rid of the erosion on the rim. Everything was fine. But then about 2 weeks later I started to notice a slight crunch when I went over bumps. Over the past month and a half the sound has gotten progressively worse.
It sounds extra bad when I am making a right turn. My brother put it on a lift, took the tire off, pushing some things around and couldn't figure out the source of the sound. Everyone who drives in the car with me can hear it. Other than that annoying sound the car is beautiful but the sound makes it seem like a junky car and it's not. It doesn't crunch when I break or at high speeds (maybe because I can't hear it). I'd hate to bring it to another mechanic and pay dollars for him to tell me he can't figure out the sound either. The car had it's suspension checked etc.
2008 Prius with 105k miles was throwing code (P0A92) and had accompanying grinding/crunching noise. Intermittently, The HV battery would drain down and the car would have difficulty starting. The car was stranded in the middle of a 2,000-mile trip in October after extended use of the A/C, and was left at a friend's house until February.
After weeks of arguments with local Toyota dealerships, who refused to listen to Toyota's national service representatives and demanded that we purchase a replacement battery for $3,000, I purchased and installed a HybridAutomotive grid charger. The Prius started and drove, but lost power about 10 miles into the drive back. Being in a hurry, we resolved to return with a trailer and tow the car back to my shop.
A replacement, low-miles transmission was installed per directions in the FSM. There was some trouble getting the inverter pump to bleed (I ended up taking off the return hose & pouring coolant backwards through the pump), and I had to swap in a spare 12v battery due to the old one being discharged. The car showed codes C0205 and C0200 (left front wheel speed sensor signal malfunction, right front wheel speed sensor signal malfunction), but no other issues.
About two weeks and 3,000 miles into the transmission swap, the battery I'd swapped in would no longer fire up the computer. A test showed the battery I'd swapped in (which I purchased in 2005) was only outputting 300 CCAs (out of a rated ~1,000). The Prius accessory battery was charged and reinstalled. The battery started the car, but would often need to be charged overnight in order to start the car (even though it would pass voltage and CCA tests). When the car won't start, attempting to jump it off another car doesn't work, and the battery had given readings as low as 10.5 volts, indicating a bad cell.
Yesterday, I had the car's owner run the in-car test procedure. Voltage was 12.3 without load, 12.0 with load. The third test could not be completed because the car shuts down. As the voltages were slightly low, the battery was replaced under warranty, but the car is exhibiting the same symptoms with the new battery. I'm now suspecting a bad inverter and/or failed inverter pump.
I am having trouble doing something that should be simple, playing music from flash drive. It reads the USB but says there are no supported audio files on the USB. I have reformatted to make sure it is fat32 format. My ipad works with my music files, why won't the USB read my music. It is the same music on the ipad.
View 5 RepliesI downloaded several mp3 files from Amazon and loaded them on a flash drive to use in my 2011 ES350 audio system. The flash drive is plugged into the USB port in the center console, and CD/Aux is selected to play the files. The weird thing is that although most files play, there is a few don't. There are folders for the non-playing music files, and a file is indicated in each, but after a short display of the folder/file number, the player skips on to the next folder without playing anything. Is there something I can do to get the "silent" files to play?

View 3 RepliesOur 2005 V8 no longer makes any sounds relating to the blinkers in use, seat belts unbuckled, headlights are on, hazard lights, etc. The only sound it's kept are the ones the parking sensors make.
View 7 RepliesAfter about 20 minutes, all stopped. This was after we had taken an hour off from driving all day. Was this the computer just making adjustments? No errors displayed, no issue with any electronics etc. 2007 T VR6 pkg 2 no air suspension, no nav every other option.

View 2 RepliesI just got a 2009 RX 350 , and I noticed that driving home with full tank of gas that my range was only reading about 250 miles. This week end I filled the tank up and the range was only reading 253 miles, after driving about 130 miles the computer is showing a range of 208 miles, The tank is showing about 3/4 full. I am showing a average of 24 miles per gallon.

The dealership tried replaced batteries and tried reprogramming the key's but said that the computer is not accepting the keys (these are original keys). They suggested replacing the computer but in my opinion the car is not worth that much ...
I tested the remotes at autozone and they seem to transmit rf signals. The door locks or control modules work fine - the problem appears to be the remotes or the communication between ecu & remotes.
I just bought my excursion, an 04 and the trip computer is not working, its dead, when the truck lights are on, the two buttons above light up, but thats it, its as if it has no power, I cant find a fuse for it directly?
View 10 RepliesSince taking delivery of my Touareg in Sept. I have, on three or four occasions experienced a loud noise that sounds like something striking the roof above the drivers side. It happened 2 or 3 times last fall and then not again until yesterday. It does not appear to be speed or weather related and obviously there is no sign of anything hitting the roof. The roof rack is correctly assembled at the rear.
