I have a 2004 V6 with 20s and close to 32K miles, never driven off road. Last Friday this warning "Check brake pads" started to show sometimes. I believe the dealer changed them before, but if he did not, how much should it cost me to replace them?
View 11 RepliesI have returned from abroad after 7 weeks, and my late 2004 Phaeton (3.2 Petrol) has taken a day to "power up" and for some warning icons to disappear. After two days, I have the "Check Brake Pads" warning on. It happened only an hour ago. My breaks feel okay. The car has done 28000 miles.

i have the brake (!) the ABS and the VSC lit up after i got new bearings and new brake pads and rotors, the car was also stalling before the mechanic removed these bearing "dust cover" circles that must have been causing speed sensor interfernce bc the spedometer was stuck on 0....so the car seems to be done stalling after those were removed and all the big lights went off then i hit the brakes a few miles later and those three lights came on...
View 2 RepliesI washed the Touareg this weekend and when I got in to go to work this morning the "check brake pad" warning came on. It was quite cold after the car wash and the vehicle sat for 12 hours. Could the washing then sitting in the cold have something to do with this warning?

Went out to my car at lunch today and the "Check Brake Lights" warning came on. I checked the lights and my top center brake light is out. No fuses are burned out.
Got a check brake light warning in the display today, I assume one on the brake lights are out and need to be changed. Is this a simple plug and play change, and are the brake lights in the tailgate or rear quarters.
View 1 RepliesLately, I am getting the uncomfortable "beep" and a "Check brake lights" message every time I get cough in a traffic jam and guess what: I checked the break lights and everything is OK. It took me sometime to be able to check the lights when the fault is on because usually it disappears after 30 seconds or so. Off course, when I take it to the dealer we cannot reproduce the problem (is not every time I break, is only when a break a lot of times in a short period of time looks like something is overheating) . The beep is driving me crazy!
View 9 RepliesJust a little PSA, if your TPMS light shows up, and all the tires (including the spare) are at the proper psi, check the button below the glove box. As long as the warning light is solid, its likely someone pushed the button. I almost paid $120 in diagnostic fee and $150 for a new sensor at the dealer because for some reason, no one knew about this button, or didn't want to tell me.

View 9 RepliesSo a few days ago the warning light that my break pads are getting low came on. My friend needs a ride this weekend that would bring the round trip to about 300 miles. How soon are my break pads on my 20th going to be shot? I don't know if this is an early warning to let you plan to get break pads in the near future, or if it's the same thing as seeing the gas light(Oh crap, gotta head to the gas station and fix this NOW).
View 7 RepliesYesterday our t-reg locked up on us, the Brake fault warning saying "Stop brake fault" came up, but the car was at a full stop. It was in park and I could not get it out of park, this has occured several times before but the dealer never found a problem, with a few repetitions of starting the engine and turning it off seemed to clear the fault. Not this time, just locked up, Also the air suspension fault warning came on with two clicking sounds, one from under the dash just above the accelerator and the other coming from the ignition switch. The dealer now says wait a week and he will look at it saying he would have to quote "tear into it" to look for a potential wiring harness problem. Our 2004 T-reg has been in the shop probably no less than 50 times in the last 4 years....
View 1 RepliesI changed the front brake pads, took all the precautions during the change, did not disconnect the 12 v battery, pumped the brake pedal 12 times, started the car and no warnings. Now the brake pedal is a little spongy, if I press the pedal to the floor the VSC/TRAC light comes on, to reset it I have to press on the pedal again and the brakes do work.
View 11 Replies05 Camry, 2.4L, 47K. Replaced the front brake pads two months ago. I put in Akebono pads and did nothing with the rotors as the original pads were not completely worn out and there is no vibration whatsoever in the pedal.
The pads have recently started making noise on brake application. I'm getting ready to take them back apart and re-lube everything. Should I take some sandpaper to the pads & rotors to knock off any glazing? Do I hit it with a course or fine grit? I have not had this problem happen in the past and was thinking that maybe it is the quality of the pads but I believe these are oem...
I'm getting an intermittent brake light warning message on my otherwise perfect '04 V8. It is the bulb in the center part of the 3rd brake light. To replace it I looked for access from inside or outside. No obvious way to get to it.

View 1 RepliesThe brake pads worn symbol has lit up in the instrument cluster on my wife's 2008 Touareg V8. The car has 33K. Per Tom Bush VW in Jacksonville, both pads and rotors must be replaced. This is without even looking at it.
Per Osteen VW also in JAX, I might not have to replace the rotors. They stated that what they have seen is that usually the rotors don't get replaced until the second visit to replace pads.
I went to my dealer to tell them that I had the sensor light showing "check brake pads" after the normal service at 75000km I left the dealer and the same problem showed.
I returned and was told everything was fine with the pads but to fix the sensors was "not worth it".
A few days later the screen showed I had a flat tire and after trying everything it would not go away after resets etc etc..
2006 Prius with 164,000 miles.
First in the morning, starts fine, 500 feet later I'm turning out of neighborhood and I get lit up with:
Red triangle master light
Yellow brake warning (went away after I did signal check)
Check engine
Maint required light
The maintenance light is on because I'm 5,000 miles out of an oil change. I checked the stick, it did appear low, so I added a half quart of mobil 1 5w-30.
The inverter pump was changed due to recall in 2012, and I do still see turbulences in the fluid.
I have 3 pips of gasoline in the tank.
The 12V is a newly replaced yellowtop from elearnaid. Replaced about 1 year ago.
My 2005 Prius with 116K on it has been having some uneven acceleration lately and today the Triangle warning light, the check engine light and the brake light came on at the same time. I had about 1/2 mile to go, so I proceeded slowly and called the dealership which had performed a routine oil chg two days ago. They said that if the lights weren't flashing then I could drive it. They recommended that I take it to AUTO ZONE and put it on the analyzer. This elicited these codes: P3019: no definition and P0A80: replace Hybrid Battery.
I have an appointment in 2 days and I'm wondering about a salvage HV battery since the car is 7 yrs old and over 116K miles.
