I have an 04' Touareg V8 that I have owned since new. It currently has 97k miles. It recently has developed a high pitched hum that seems to come on at 30mph+. The sound seems to come from the middle of the car. The car is at the dealer and I want to hear some unbiased post regarding this.
View 4 RepliesMy '04 started making a high pitched noise from the right front wheel within the last two weeks. It's in the local dealer now and they tell me they suspect a bad right front wheel bearing. I don't see any posts about similar experiences here. I kind of worry that the fact the vehicle is two years old and only has 9200 miles on it may be part of the problem-is infrequent use enough to cause the bad bearings? I drove it infrequently (1-2x/week, sometimes no driving for a week or two) up until the last three months, and now it's being driven daily.

Drive More Slowly or shift to High Differential
I was only doing about 5mph when this happened and haven't been able to reproduce the error.
This is only the third unique error message my Touareg has shown me in its first 8 months of life. I wonder how many different error messages are programed into this car. (I bet there are many). I'm not being critical. I find it fascinating. I have never driven a car that was so in touch with its inner workings as this Touareg.
I am a V8 owner and have about 6,000miles on the car...recently the car has been making really high pitch exhaust sounds (rasp/high pitch/weird) @ WOT...it did not do this before...
View 2 RepliesThe vehicle is a 2005 Touareg 4.2 v8 with 81k miles. I purchased from a dealership and have been having nothing but problems from the day I purchased it. (2 months ago) the day after I purchased it check engine light came on, headlight range light, air bag light, and now this noise I have owned about 15 vag cars and also own vagcom no codes pertaining to this noise... Above 10-15mph there is an intermittent whine (high pitched) for the most part the noise is there most of the time.
It does not stop when in neutral not effected when the air is off or on, does not change if you down shift, no change if the wheels are turned. I broke down and took it to a very trustworthy Audi shop in the area and you guessed it the entire way there no noise... The tech drove it no noise so I had them flush and fill the trans as it was due for it anyways. They informed me that it was dirty and I figured that it may have taken care of it. Well after a 20 minute drive home the noise started again! I took a short video....
I just noticed after I turn the car off the noise that is usually a hum is now a very high pitched noise, until that motor turns off.

View 5 RepliesI did a search for this symptom but didn't see anything that sounded right... High pitched squeal from right front wheel well area (sounds like a tea kettle actually).
Starts at 10+mph and is speed variable (faster=louder)... but not effected by applying the brakes (so doesn't seem to be related to the brake assembly)... It doesn't happen all the time... but getting more frequent... annoying...

I have a intermittent noise from the center of my touareg. It is a squeel or high pitched rubbing sound and seems to be related to load on drive line. I have heard about center driveshaft bearing problems, could this be it.What repairs are available

View 4 RepliesI have been getting a loud, high-pitched mechanical-sounding noise coming from the middle of the dash, near the CD player. It lasts only a few seconds, but it scares the sh!t out of me every time! It happens out of the blue after I've been driving for a few minutes about every 3 weeks or so. The sound is almost impossible to describe...but if you've had it happen you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. View 1 RepliesReading thru all the squealing noise posts made me want to ask about mine. I have started to notice a high pitched squeal/squeak that occurs while sitting stopped with your foot on the brake...then let off the brake and take off and get this momentary squeak that doesn't continue (at least I can't hear it). It seems to stop once you get going again.
Seems to be coming from the passenger side front. I think I started noticing this after my most recent tire rotation and balance. What the brake wear indicator sounds like or if I will get an icon on the mfi when the brakes need service. The brakes do not squeal when in use. I currently have 27000 miles.
I recently had to have e my alarm replaced on the car and after i left the dealer i parked and locked the car and came to notice that the chirp is no longer a chirp but a high pitched very loud beep that lasts longer than the previous chirp. The odd thing is that when i activate the alarm it sounds exactly as it should. I contact the dealer and asked if they gave me the right alarm and assured me that it is right and properly installed. What is going on??

My 2005 RX330 has run fine for all 45000 miles to date. One exception is that there is a high pitched hum that becomes noticeable once the car reaches 30 mph and continues to increase pitch until about 45mph. The hum seems to disappear when going faster than 45. If you cruise on a quiet street at 30mph the hum will stay steady if you maintain speed. The hum will increase if you accelerate.
But... if you take your foot off the gas pedal the hum instantly stops. Put your foot back on the pedal and it instantly starts. You can almost "play a song" by taking your foot off and on the pedal. Lexus service clearly heard the sound during a test drive, but could not figure it out.
My car has 155k miles and I haven't had any previous issues with it. I noticed probably 30k miles ago the beginning of a whine sound when the car accelerates. The noise has been getting louder (it's really not that loud) but I am wondering what this could be. I want to avoid anything happening to the car and want to find out what the problem is so I can fix it.
View 6 RepliesEarlier this year, I had to have my alternator changed out in my 04 Ford Escape - the local shop installed a re-manufactured part to save me a bit of money (which was fine with me, considering the brand new alternator I had had installed needed to be replaced after a year and a half). For the most part, the car works fine, but when it is idling (especially after a cold start) there is a constant high pitched "whir" sound. I have also noticed the lights dim a bit when more systems are used, but nothing ever stops working. I have had the alternator checked 3 times now, but each time it is charging the car normally. What could be causing this?

View 4 RepliesI took my 2008, 56k in for a new battery after my car sat outside in negative degree temps for a few days. After doing that repair, the dealer recommended a new serpentine belt. Ever since that service appointment, the car is making a high-pitched "woo-wooo" noise during acceleration. It's definitely a noise I've never heard before. I took it back to the dealer two days later; he had the service guy drive it and they both claim the noise is normal and just due to the cold. Is it the belt? Is it the cold? Am I losing my mind?
View 3 RepliesI recently starting noticing a very high pitched,annoying squeak on my 2004 Century.. It's most noticeable when making left turns but can sometimes be heard when going straight or making right turns.. I'm thinking it might be the metal tab/wear sensor on the brake pads rubbing on the brake rotor but not sure, haven't looked at it yet? It doesn't turn out to be the wear sensor?
View 1 RepliesI know this noise is the Thermos Pump and it operates when I turn the car on and off. Question - is it failing - also a really annoying noise, but I'll put up with it as long as nothing's breaking.
