Touareg :: 2004 - Getting 4 Audible Chimes When Start The Car

Am I loosing it or does this car have an abundance of chimes, gongs, ding-a-lings and buzzers? Every time I start the car I get 4 audible chimes. My wife cannot stand to drive the car any longer.

In December I purchased an 04 Touareg and LOVE the car(hate the tires but that's another discussion). I read an article on club touareg about a product VAG-COM that could disable the seatbelt chimes? How this is done, do I need to purchase something?

I love my V8 but the thing beeps every time i breathe. Is there a way to turn off some of the beeps/chimes/ or turn down the volume?

Is there any way to get rid of the chimes that sound then the car is on and the driver's door is opened? I have found the VAG instructions for getting rid of the ignition switch chime and seat belt chime but not the light switch chimes.
Whenever the switch is in the left (off) position and I open the door with the car running, it chimes every second... not bad. But, when the light switch is in the middle setting (automatic lights) and I open the door, it gives off a very loud prolonged beep and says "Side Light Is Switched On " in the MFI. This only happens at night when the DRLs are off and the system turns the full headlights on. During the day when the car is using DRLs, it jus does the intermittent chimes like the off position.
This is extremely annoying... any way to just turn all the light warning beeps off?? If you don't know the beep I am talking about, put your car on and lights in the right (on) position and then open the driver's door... heard that loud screech?? That is what I am talking about. Only, that sound also happens when the lights are in the middle (auto) position and it is night time.

I have a 2001 Saturn SC2. I went out to start my car and all the lights and chimes worked but car would not start.. wouldn't even act like it wanted to. I did hear a little humming maybe with a lil click but not like "click click click" sound . O and the radio wouldn't work either, and when i turned it to on the security light and check engine lights were on, not blinking. I tried resetting the alarm (saw on a site) by unlocking the door, turning it off and on and off and leaving it unlocked for 30 min that didn't do anything.
When I came back the lights were getting dimmer and now this morning I have no notta. Now my battery is dead and I cant check anything, does this sound like the security, how do i quick fix it or is this the ignition or starter???? My battery is brand new. Oh and I did just start using my alarm clicker again after about a year because I thought i lost it but just found it, that's why I am really thinking it has to do with the alarm but I cant even check the ignition or the starter with a dead battery. I tried to jump start it and notta.

From reading some of the posts on here it seems this is an air bag warning. 5 chimes five times in a row. The fuze is fine and there are no warning lights on the dash.

2013 F250 4WD gas V8, auto, stripped basic truck, 72500 miles.
I'm driving back to the shop today, chimes start going off, Service Advancetrac comes up where the odometer is & starts flashing. More chimes, airbag, battery, seatbelt & a couple of other lights start flashing, & coming off & on at random. Check Brakes starts flashing where the odometer is. This gets worse & worse, more & more noise, but the truck runs fine, starts & stops fine.
Ford saw fit to not put a volt meter in, so I don't know what the battery was doing. This went on for at least 5 minutes. I finally was able to push the button to turn off the Traction Control in the split second when all the lights went out. With Traction shut off, all the noise & flashing went away.

If I make a right turn at anything above a snail's pace, my emergency brake light comes on and it chimes. Had the brakes checked and they are fine for now but since they are original, they will need to be replaced soon. The car has 50,000 miles. Recently had the cam sensor replaced and the dealership checked the car over.

So I recently bought a 2006 f150 XLT with a 5.4 and of course the previous owner failed to tell me that it has an annoying beeping problem. It chimes 25 times total about every 20 minutes of the truck running, I've read the owners manual and found that it could possibly have to do with the passenger air bag.

Just bought this car used. 180k miles. Absolutely love it......until it randomly died on me.
Here's the skinny. When I try to start the car, the first thing I hear is a very audible belt squeak, but it quickly goes away, and the engine starts to sputter and shake violently. The cylinders fire slower and slower, and If I step on the gas, the car just cuts off.
My first reaction was to guess the timing belt had frayed and was slipping...come to find out after about 5 minutes on google.com that the 2000 G20 uses a timing chain....

2001 Saturn SL1, 143,000 miles; well maintained. For about a week, I had intermittent no crank/no start. Lights and radio worked. A single, audible click occurred when I turned the key. When I was able to start the car, it ran fine. I suspected a failing starter.
The next time I tried to start the car, however, it roared to life only to run like an asthmatic locomotive. It idled low, at about 500 rpm, and shook badly. When I stepped on the gas, the engine smoothed a bit and the headlights flickered. There was no CEL or battery light, except for one brief moment when I revved the engine to about 2000 rpm.
Now, when I try to start the car, it starts just fine, but runs for about 2 seconds before stalling out. I installed a new battery in September 2012 and I changed the plugs in early 2013 – both routine, preventative measures.
Any chance I flooded the engine while trying to start it, even though it's a fuel-injected engine? If so, how do I "unflood" it?

I just realized that I should be hearing the nav system giving me audible turn notifications. And I haven't been getting them. I have a destination entered, and am in the middle of being guided.
Having the audio system on/off makes no difference
I have the voice guides turned on (via Menu screen)
I have the voice volume set at 7 (via Menu screen)
Turning the speed-adaptive volume on/off makes no difference (via Menu screen)
I am on what seems to be the original DVD disc (v3.0?) that came with the car
I have what appears to be a dealer/aftermarket installed rear entertainment system (not OEM)
So:Does the nav system audio have it's own speaker and dedicated channel in the ML amplifier? Or perhaps it's own amplifier

My '04 with 193,000 miles has in the last week displayed the above trio of warnings (the word "PROBLEM" appears in the MFD and disappears instantly) plus the infamous Red Triangle of Death appears and there is an audible chime, 7 times; 4 when changing lanes and 3 at random times. The trio of warnings come on for literally 1 to 1.5 seconds and then go away, and there is nothing apparently wrong with the car, the handling, the performance, etc...it continues driving as sweetly as ever. Nothing. No engine warning light comes on (if there is such a thing), or anything else. I have new tires, the tires are all properly inflated, so it isn't the tires triggering the traction control warning.

The parking brake audible warning is going off along with the parking brake light. I tried disengaging the brake multiple times and it went off once, however now it will not go off. I found some older pictures of a switch on the arm that swings with your foot when you engage the brake, but I can't find it on my 2004.
Is there a switch down there that needs to be kicked, contacts cleaned or replaced? I checked the fluid level and vacuum hoses and do not see anything obvious.

Well I have a 2004 Gremlin that has gone through all the fixes (alternator cable, battery, even replaced some control module) go into car and won't turn over nothing.
See reports to reset the yellow battery isolation switch. Where the hell is this? What carpet do you remove? I tried to find it and no luck. There are those two panels on the floor (one on right side of chair and one on left corner) but those apparently are to access the battery tilt the chair back.

got my 2004 v8 fully loaded back in 2004 and quickly purchased the keyless start kit from spock.. been enjoying it ever since.. just passed 60,000 miles and keyless entry (where you just touch the handle to unlock) AND keyless start stopped working. car is at the dealership for the 60,000 mile service and having them look at it. they say that the keyless controller module is throwing error codes re: the signal and needs to be replaced... parts and labor $1,115!!! and, of course, the warranty went out at 50,000 miles.

My key got stuck in the ignition and I was unable to start it. The owners' manual shows a small hole to the left of the key slot which is poked with a paper clip to release the key. At some point the ignition in my tdi was replaced and no small hole is present. A knowledgeable tow truck operator/mechanic coaxed the key from the ignition and the tdi started when the key was returned to the ignition and turned. What is the proper way to remove a stuck key from an ignition without the little hole. I was reluctant to force it out. The ignition currently in my '04 tdi has a raised bar to the left of the key slot which I was unable to depress.

Noticed the fan running a lot louder then normal. Tire pressure sensor keeps saying it is low or that it is flat. checked air in all put air in all and still get that tires are low. Got a check engine light the other day then it went off. Went to start it today and wouldn't start. all lights come on on the dash gauges move except the battery gauge. Jump started it and she started got to the house and it wouldn't start. So i am thinking it is the battery or could it be the ecu? or the alternator? The lights on the dash weren't dimming when trying to start now i get nothing. Never had computers problems with it since i bought it. Been the same battery since it was purchased.

I had my 04 Treg vagged over a year ago to turn off the seatbelt chime and turn on the DRLs when the hi beams are on. I have not have any problems related to the Vag. This week my ESP loght went on so I brought it to the dealer (a new dealer, who has not worked on my car before). Tech states that the Vagging may have screwed up the codes and caused the ESP fault and some of the other strange things that have happened such as Key Battery Not Found and my audio cutting out for 10 minues last week. He said he could not reset the codes because he did not know the factory defaults. He stated he turned my DLRs on when, in fact he actually turned them off.
Before he noticed the Vagging, he changed the Clock Spring. However, the ESP light returned on and they returned the car to me with the ESP light still on. The ESP light goes off when I start the car and initiall drive but it then returns on. Also, the ESP button on the console is lit off stating that ESP is off.

Recently, in the last 2-3 days, I've noticed a pair of closely-spaced bongs or deep chimes coming from somewhere in my standard (no accessories) Level 4 2014 Prius hatchback. I'm deaf in one ear so cannot determine the source. Today my wife was with me and says she thinks they're coming from the back of the interior somewhere. They may have been there all along, but I usually am playing music or listening to SiriusXM so that may have covered it.
