Tiguan :: Windshield Fluid Sensor Light Staying On
Feb 27, 2016
I would assume that my sensor needs replacement. What it takes to access the sensor? Where is it exactly located before I start ripping apart everything.

View 4 RepliesRecently the low windshield washer warning light came up on my dash. I rarely use it so found it weird. As I thought it was pretty full already. The warning only show up when its around 4 degree Celsius and doesn't show up when its around 10 degree.
View 5 RepliesSo my windshield washer fluid sensor popped on a couple of months ago, checked fluid (was full), I concluded that it was a failed sensor. I ordered a new one from ECS, put in last wknd, and finally: the low-level warning light disappeared. A few days later, I was adding some fluid into the reservoir (it was a new bottle and had no funnel) and I spilled a few drops. The spilled amount seemed to drop near the sensor plug, but didn't think it was a big deal. Went into work, came out later to head home, and you guessed it: the low-level light came back on (with a FULL reservoir).
I removed the plug yesterday, blew it out, but it didn't change a thing. Anyway, is it possible the sensor shorted because somehow some of the fluid go into the connection? If I hookup the vagcom, will I be able to tell if there is an issue (I know it didn't before when the first sensor failed). Is there even a fuse for the fluid sensor?
My washer fluid low light is constantly ON, even if it is 100% full. I even ordered and filled the OEM washer fluid, but no change.
After reading though a lot of forums i realized what the actual issue was. i used the crappy orange Rain-X that screwed up my washer fluid sensor, like everyone else's.
U was looking for a DIY where i can change it myself, without taking it to the dealer.
For the 2010 Prius, should there be a warning light when the windshield wiper fluid is low or out?

View 8 RepliesAny setting that would cause it. Light switch in auto position. Parked Tig at night. Coming home lights were on. When I came out an hour later they were still on. Tried a number of things to turn them off but no luck. Next day in daylight, after I boosted my battery, the coming home lights were off. This was on a 2009 Tig that I was test driving and am thinking of purchasing. It is currently back at the car dealer to be checked out, along with a few other issues that need to be addressed. Hoping it is not a sign of bigger problems.
View 3 RepliesI have had issues with the sensor for my tires staying lit even after filling the tires with air. I had it turned off at the dealership about 6 months ago and it is now constantly on again.

I love my car, but this is a large annoyance for me. It seems as though the heat is escaping from the engine bay and being ducted directly into the lower half of the windshield. I know it is occurring on the outside of the glass because I can wipe it off with the wipers, but it just keeps coming back. Sometimes, it's so bad that I can't even see the road...
I do have the APR Carbonio intake installed, and I'm wondering if the intake tube that parallels the windshield has a leak somewhere.
So it rained today. I go to turn on my wipers, and they sound like this: [URL].......................
Clattering and skipping, only for the driver side. So I go to look at the wipers, and they look fine. Put it into service mode, and driver side is not flush to windshield. Took off the windshield blade and saw that the piece that attaches the blade to the arm is crooked. And then there's a slight bend in the arm itself. Pictures show it not very obvious, but is noticeable in person. And there is a bend on both, but the driver side is much more bent than the passenger, and its also at a different angle, hence the crooked attaching piece.
So my brand new previously gorgeous tiguan, which is only 20 days old, unfortunately had a ding on it on the panel between the windshield and the passenger door.
I drive about 60 miles daily to and from work (and didn't notice anything like that on the car this weekend), so im guessing a rock or something kicked up and nicked the car. Paint doesn't look to be scratched or anything.
Of course since my car is new, im pretty frustrated and annoyed. I know dings will happen but I guess I assumed the body was stable enough to deal with minor kickups.
Well we got our first snowfall here and since buying the Tiguan and I had to clean windshields this morning. Go to lift the wipers off the windshield to clean under them and "THUNK"; they don't lift higher than a couple of inches above the windshield and they certainly don't stay there while I'm trying to scrape, brush, clear off snow and ice. The hinge on the wiper arm is below/under the trailing edge of the hood! This is a horrible design flaw.
Not mention that when knowing that we are going to get horrible freezing rain/snow, I would typically lift my wipers while away from the car so they would not freeze to the windshield. Clearly I cannot do this on the Tig.
This design flaw will lead to faster wearing of wiper blades through ice not being cleared and blades being frozen to the windshield in wet turning to freezing weather, a fairly common occurrence here. Like last night.
How do those of you in wintery climes deal with this issue? Is it only on the face-lifted '12s and '13s?
2003 Passat B5.5.
Every time I refill the bottle, the next morning I always find the fluid under driver's side bumper on my driveway.
My latest issue is not having wiper fluid shoot out of the dispenser units to the wipers. I think it may be frozen, but the weather has only gotten warmer since it worked last.
What's odd is that, even if frozen, I would think one side might work and the other would not, but neither works. I can hear the pump trying to squirt it out, but nothing.
I would rather fix it myself if I could. I have already taken the car to the dealership four times in the last month (steering rack 2X, catalytic converter, lower vent not working)....
I did top it off with fluid last night, but there was/is already plenty in there.
So I obviously checked the fluid levels and added plenty to make sure its not empty.. I don't know if there is some issue with a pump that needs to be warmed up first, or some ice buildup on the nozzles (obviously I didn't see any).
After driving for about 20 minutes it started spraying just fine. Although it doesn't seem to spray very well in the rear window. I'm wondering if it is just the cold temperatures (was around 0-5 at night) or if there is another issue.
Recently the dash display indicated that I needed to add washer fluid. I was surprised that it would be low since I rarely use it and had not done so lately.
Yesterday I added water to the bottle and heard a trickling noise as I was doing so. To my surprise the water was leaking out below the car! The bottle remains empty.
Is there anything I have to reset or something my low windshield fluid indicator won't turn off after It topped it off. It's been about 3 days and it's still on. I hate seeing any warning lights on my dash....
View 6 RepliesI recently purchased a 2009 Camry XLE with 14,000 miles on it. So far so good other than the windshield/dash noise rattle when it is cold which I have searched on found a fix. However the other challenge I am having is the windshield washer fluid is leaking. It is a toyota certified car (warranty for 12 mos/ 12,000 miles) so I figured the 160 point inspection was completed expecting they would have topped off all fluids. I filled the washer fluid to where I could see it in the neck of the container. I walked back into my garage to put away the washer fluid, while walking back towards the car I could see something was leaking from under the car. It was leaking from a hole of the plastic directly under the car that covers everything up so you are unable to look up into the engine compartment. What may be causing this leak? I would suspect about 10 to 14 oz leaked.
View 6 RepliesReplacing the windshield washer fluid reservoir? Mine is leaking badly. I think I need to take off the front driver side wheel but I am not sure.
View 2 RepliesI have a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Spews out under the car when I try to fill it up and then get the low washer fluid warning. Have always used washer fluid -20F formula.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 hyundai sante fe. None of my windshield washer fluid is spraying on my windows, front or back. I think the fuse to the windshield fluid might be broken so I opened up the fuse box but I can't find a fuse that says it's for the fluid.
There was one that said, I think, "Windshield" but it was a big gray little box it doesn't look like the rest of the fuses. I tried to pull on it but it wouldn't really budge and I didn't want to keep trying because I don't know what it is.
