Tiguan :: Liner All Soaked, Sunroof Not Tied To RLS
Jun 13, 2016
So recently I had left my windows and sunroof open on a hot day. An afternoon shower came up. When I went out to my car later that day I found the liner all soaked but the windows rolled up and the sunroof still open. It's a 2016 SEL
I have comfort enabled to open and close with both FOB and door handle(KESSY) and confirmed the sunroof operation. I then left everything open, locked and armed the car. Then came back later and poured water on the windshield and watched as the windows rolled up but the sunroof did not move. Tested with it both open and tilted and never moved once. Obviously the dealer is no use as they claim the car is not equipped with that feature.

Friday, 4/4/14: I have read many of the posts about this issue on this site. Didn't know this was such a widespread problem until I started doing my internet research today. Obviously there are many of us and this has been going on for a few years with this vehicle. I have had soaked floor boards twice and dealing with my third incident today(4 inches of rain last night). Have an appt with my GMC dealership on Monday. How I start this process with GMC to quickly get their attention. Obviously, I need to contact GMC first so that I can get their standard, worthless answer. But I've read I need to hire a "lemon law attorney", post my dissatisfaction on social media, contact the news media, etc. I am 62 yrs old, on disability, can't afford this inconvenience for something GMC should be RECALLING and fixing. Plus I have a small garage and this monster vehicle will not fit in it (didn't know that until after I bought it).

2009 Camry, no sunroof.
Noticed today that the carpet UNDER the front passenger seat is soaked. The front and rear passenger floorboard carpet is dry. Just the carpet DIRECTLY under the seat.
Nothing spilled, seat dry.

The pop-up mesh air deflector on my sunroof is broken. Is it DIY friendly? The part number is 1K9-877-651-9B9

So it has been quite cold around here the past couple of weeks. I was driving my Tig the other day to grab some food. My buddy wanted to see how far my sunroof opens. It opened no problem. But then when I tried to close the sunroof, it got just about closed and then reversed to open all the way. It took me about 6 times of opening all the way and then trying to close until it finally closed. My thought is maybe a piece of ice got stuck and made the system think something was on the track?

I used VAGCOM to turn on the automatically close windows/ sunroof when rain is sensed...I also checked the box under MFI/ Convenience but cannot get the windows/sunroof to close with rain. How to get this to work?

My key died today so I had to pull out my spare. Isn't there a way to make the key control the windows and sunroof with the key? I'm only finding info on how you can make it unlock the drivers door or all. I have a 2010 SEL 4Motion.

A rattle has developed coming from the headliner behind the sunroof, I hear it when driving over rough roads. It seems most noticeable on the passenger side. I can replicate it if I thump on the headliner in the backseat behind the sunroof. I can make it stop if I push up against the headliner when sitting in the back seat. And I am pretty sure its not coming from the sunroof which has its own set of noises.

Lately, been hearing a lot of creaking noises coming from the sunroof in the closed position. I have open and closed it a few times just to make sure it was aligned improperly. Maybe it was a one-time thing from having it open on a nice day but it has been pretty consistent now. Seems to be fine otherwise, opens and closes, no wind noise when closed, etc.

I did a search on this and have read a few issues.
- possible bad welds
- Creaking needing lubrication/readjusting
I have had my tiguan 1 month.. bought preowned and it creaks where appears to be the meeting point to the sunroof/back glass when closed.
VW doesn't seem to care as its a rattle, but there must be something i can do. Which areas do people lubricate? and if it is indeed metal/metal rattling at the meet point, how to adjust this? I tried letting the sunroof reset itself but to no improvement.

Hard to describe since I'm away from the Tiguan and can't take a picture.. but I noticed that the left side wasn't tucked under, but the right side was. I'm referring to where the two glass roofs meet in the middle. The rubber seals are completely visible from the front but then are tucked under the plastic part at the middle of the sunroof.

I found water in the floor in the front and rear passenger side of the car. I cleaned it up thinking the sunroof may not have been closed all the way at the dealership when they washed it. I drove it today in the rain and the front passenger side is wet again next to the console and near the seat. Where are the drains located at?

I bought my early b6 in january and now that it's getting warm I tried the A/C an nothing but hot air comes out. I took it over to my brother shop and he said the compressor is tied up. These things aren't cheap! With 61k on the clock I doubt that the dealer would cover it.

If I transport my bicycle in the trunk of my 2014 ES350 with the lid tied down but not closed the alarm sounds continuously. Can I defeat the door open alarm for the trunk lid?

This started just today. I have a strange ticking noise coming from right behind my gauge cluster. The frequency of the ticking is tied directly to my speed. It begins when I drive off and slows to a stop when I stop (almost like a "baseball card in a bicycle spoke" sound, but just not as loud). What this might be? Could it have something to do with the speedometer? Odometer?

My mom has a 2002 Passat that recently got drenched inside when she left the window open during a big downpour. It is so humid inside that her windshield has condensation on it and now it smells very musty, and that was weeks ago.
She hasn't been driving it cause she left for a vacation which is probably why the odor lingered.
She doesn't have a garage where she can open all the windows and let the car air out. How to get the humidity and odor out.

I just got the trunk latch problem that is frequently mentioned. Reading other messages here, it seems likely to be due to the spring of the post.
I eagerly went out to remove the trunk lid liner to see if I could fix the problem, but I couldn't for the life of me find the fuzzy screws that other people indicate have to be removed
Looking for a picture of what these seemingly invisible screws look like, or a diagram indicating where they are?
I have a 2001 Passat GLX (not the 2001.5 has the clips holding the liner in)

I have a '97 Lexus Es300 1mz fe170k with a very minor oil leak. It's not a serious leak, but it's starting to get all over my power steering belt and making ugly spots in my driveway. The whole front of the motor is wet with oil, so I'm not sure exactly where the leak is coming from. I don't think it's coming from the oil pan, considering the power steering pump is soaked and dripping with oil (positive its not power steering fluid). There seems to be more traces of oil on the bottom of the rear manifold too. Thinking it may be a seal behind the timing cover, i pulled off the upper cover just to find the timing belt and pulleys bone dry and free of oil. I've attached a picture of the leak but where to look. The rear manifold is circled in white.

I left my car sitting for a while. After the rainy month we had, the rear floor behind the driver seat was soaked. it looked like there was a gallon of water. now everytime it rains there is a pool in the back. I checked the doors, windows sunroof, etc. all good.

So I have no clue where and how this leak started. My 2003 Honda Civic Ex has 133000 miles well earned. This leak has to be stopped. The carpet has been ripped out to dry, but I will probably replace it anyways. Some Ideas have already been given to me. First one, my car does have a system in it(meaning sub and amp cords running through firewall), so water could possibly pass through that hole. Second is checking the windows, door seals and if any welds or cracks have not been filled by the auto body shop. This would be from the one known accident from previous owner. Damage was done to the rear left drivers side panels, behind the door. The problem was looked over but nothing was found. Third would be to check, again the windows and doors rubber insulation strips. Also the fourth and most interesting idea, was that the vents or drains that are responsible for the water that flows down the front window and into those vents, I obviously have no real idea of what these things are called, might be clogged, as well as the channels that the vents are connected too.

I left my the car sitting for a week out in heavy rain and came back to find that the driver side floor was soaked. After searching around I seem to have found the entry point. It seems like all of the water is pouring in from my hood release lever area which I find strange. I put a towel down last night during two hours of rain and came back to find the towel almost fully soaked through. I read other threads on this but the results were inconclusive. Could it be the lower or upper windshield seals? Door seals? Another problem I'm having is water leaking from my dome light buttons after a heavy rain. I assume this is a problem with the sunroof seal, but whenever I search around it feels dry?
