I was coming home earlier when the "engine" light came on for about 30 seconds followed by a "epc" light. The thing idled really rough, luckily I was less than a mile from home and managed to get it into the garage for the night. Going to take it to the dealer first thing in the morning to find out what's the deal.

View 2 Replies30-40 seconds after shutting down the engine, i can hear a single "clack/click" noise coming from under the hood, near the right wheel. Is it normal? What's moving, some sort of electrovalve/actuator?
I hear it being out of the car, inside it's not so easy to listen. It's well after I turn off the key and it does it only once. It's not really near the wheel, with the hood open i located the CLACK behind the engine (on the side near the windscreen), could it be something related with fap / etc.?
From time to time I get this high vibration on start-up of the car. It almost seems like more of the engine noise and vibration is coming through to the cabin. It only lasts about 5 seconds from initial start up and the rpm does not change and stays constant. This only happens maybe once every other week or once a month. What or why this could be happening?
View 6 RepliesToday a new light came up in the dash and no its not the snowflake of doom, went to the manual and found out one of my front light is dead. Did some research about a better alternative to oem bulbs and came to the conclusion Philips X-treme vision is the way to go.Silverstar Ultra also seem to be a good option but going with philips after reading reviews . Found some online in the states and on ebay but would like to get them local or at least online in canada.

View 9 RepliesMy gf calls me today to tell me her tire pressure light is on. She's only had it a month! Not even! Is this a common occurance? It has been bitterly cold here the past few days, could that be a factor? I don't see any reason for the light to come on less than a month into having the vehicle.
View 13 RepliesMy wife's TPMS light came on yesterday, I checked the tire pressures this AM and set them all to 38psi, one wheel was down a few PSI, and went for a drive. everything seems fine.
TPMS light is still on, this is a canadian trendline w/4motion.
I do not have MFSW but I do seem to have the full MFD. The manual says to reset via the settings menu which I cannot access. no combination of button pushing on the cluster or control stalk will give me the settings menu. I do not see a button in front of the shift lever or in the glove box like other models have.
I go surfing, camping, tailgating, etc and I've noticed in all of my excursions that the trunk light stays on and doesn't turn off - like the rest of the interior lights - after five minutes or so. I'd rather not drain the battery or burn myself on the bulb cover (I've done the latter). I've scoured the Tiguan manual looking for an answer, but there's nothing in there regarding this issue.
Is there a switch I'm unaware of?
Possible solutions:
1) Change the bulb to an LED type to minimize heat production and lessen battery drain
2) Take the bulb out (risking a 'replace bulb' alert on the MFD). The light is always covered anyway with 'stuff.' I'm considering putting a small battery-powered tap-light on the underside of the trunk cover.
I just recently changed the battery in my key fob and, after starting the car and driving a few minutes, noticed a flashing light on the dash and the information center stated "AFS turning light malfunction, see manual"...
It has happened a few times since then but have not gotten a chance to see of my turning lights still function at night or not.
So this has happened twice in the last 3 days. I start the tig put it in D hit the gas and it sputters and doesnt move, the EPC light comes on, hit the gas again and sputters and then goes? After a minute it seems fine but the EPC light stays on until i drive for a bit and shut the car off and restart.

Low tire pressure light keeps coming on..all tires look good..is this because of weather? (its gotten a bit cooler in the last few days)
Is there a way to "clear" it?
My Tig came with 17's ... I purchased 19" Savannahs but now my TPMS is on.
I pumped up the PSI to 38 even and its on still ( blinks for a min then solid on ).
Is this likely needing resetting? One dealer told me the sensors may need changing?
Yesterday, while cleaning my Tig, my check engine light came on. I didn't know what it could be so I checked my oil. Sure enough, it was low. I actually checked the oil maybe 3 weeks ago and it was fine. I was looking at my instrument cluster at an angle and I couldn't see one. Since, I decided to check for fault codes too, none showed up.
View 10 RepliesSince I got my Tig a couple weeks ago ive noticed occasionally when stopped at a red light (usually right after I stop fully) ill feel like I've been tapped from behind slightly. Just a lil thump forward. I didn't notice it every time though. Today, while sitting at a light I was able to figure out how to reproduce it. Id like to see if you all have felt the same and if you can reproduce it like I can.
While at the light hold the brake pedal as lightly as you can while still remaining stopped. then, press it down relatively firmly. Once you push down on it, you should feel that thump. loosen up the brake a bit and then repeat. It will do it again.
I am assuming this is a set percentage of brake pressure or pedal degree that is disengaging the clutches fully. Well, that's the most I can speculate actually..just a wild guess.
Noticed a light rattling noise during acceleration? It only seems to do it at lower rpms then stops? I feel like I remember reading something about the wastegate causing this? but I don't remember where i saw that?

View 3 RepliesSo two weeks ago the Tiggy threw and EPC light while I was up in the mountains, twice. I took it in last Wednesday for service and according to my service tech, the parts needed for the throttle assembly have to be ordered...and not only that, but the part is back ordered.

I got the car with nitrogen in the tires so I'm assuming that i have to take this back to the dealer to check the tire pressure and reset the indicator in the dash? How sensitive is this tire pressure monitor?
View 7 RepliesThe ESP light to come on while cruising on dry pavement and then the burnt bulb light to come on. They both stayed on until the engine is restarted. I had 3 incidents with the same behavior so far in a month and they stayed on for the duration of the trip.
View 1 RepliesSo My traction control light went on the other morning as I was leaving the garage . I pushed the button on the console and nothing happened. I shut the Tig off and restarted it. Nothing , light was still on . Since this was 6am . I drove it to coffee and drove it home thinking it would reset . No luck .
Waited till my local dealer opened and went over and asked the service advisor if he knew anything about this ? He took it for a spin around the lot and said everything looked and felt ok and said it would reset itself sometime if I drove it a bit. He gave me back the Tig and sent me on my way ... This was a Saturday morning.
So , I drove it for a day or two and nothing and the light was still on and my 4motion felt like it was not working right. Weather was Icy and I did not want my better half driving the Tig with this problem .
I took the Tig to the dealer on Thursday morning and told them I was here the other day etc. etc. They called me later in the day and said a plug-in electrical connector under the car did not have a plug in the open part of the connector and to pick it up and bring it back on Friday when the parts come in.
Now they just called and said it was the rear end and VW NA tech line was walking them through things and they need my car over night to diagnose it further.. So after all this it goes from a stuck light reset to a plug-in connector to a rear end ....
