Experiencing this sound after driving the car for the first time in 5 months. It was parked outdoors in NJ weather since December with the handbreak off. I thought I experienced this sound last year as well, but only after not driving it for 3 weeks with handbreak on. I hear the sound everytime I step on the breaks. I think the last time, the sound went away after driving/stepping on the breaks after a short drive. Is this normal?
View 2 RepliesIs it just me or is this an ABS thing? during a snow storm i was going about 25mph and had applied the breaks and started making a grinding noise... if it is the abs how are you suppose to work with the response time for a quicker stop.
View 2 RepliesAny 'rattle' from their front suspension when going over high-frequency, low speed bumps (manhole covers, potholes etc)?Sounds like a loose strut mount or shock. It's not a creaking sound - a definite rattle - so I don't think it's the engine mount issue that I've read about elsewhere. Car is brand new and is going in for a 60 day courtesy check in a couple of weeks.

Something isn't right, it sounds the same way my X5 did when the Rack needed to be replaced. It would be strange to have 2 cars needing new racks within the same year....especially since they are both 2010 model.
View 9 RepliesMy Tiguan is 2013 with 3k miles on it. There is a rattling sort of noise in the 2-3k RPM range which I think is turbo related. It is much louder when cold and quieter when warmed up. Is that normal turbo noise in the Tiguan? If so, why does it minimize when warm? And why does it not continue above 3k RPM? My Audi A4 with similar 2.0 Turbo does not make this noise.
View 9 RepliesMy rear door panel has been creaking ever since I got the car. The creaking noise seems to get worse every day. Ca a dealer will be able to isolate the noise and gent it fixed. Scheduled an appointment already for next Friday.
View 6 Replies I bought a new ABT Quad Tip Exhaust and replace the stock, it looks nice, but it has a ear drum killer drone between 2000 - 3000 rpm at all gears, and it peaks at around 2500 rpm.
Under 2000 rpm and above 3000 rpm, the exhaust is silent and i can actually hear the engine noise.
I was driving the wifes 12 Tiguan SEL 4mo the other day and noticed that on accel it makes some odd noise, almost a tinny boost leak noise, it seems to accel just fine but at certain rpm's it makes this weird noise, its not a normal turbo boost noise i hear that as well. Maybe this noise is completely normal or maybe it isn't?
View 10 RepliesHaving issue with E-Brake when car has been park for a long time. Mine makes noise every time I leave my car park for a long time, like as if the brakes are stuck on the rotor. It would make a noise as if my rotors were rusty, and would diminish after the car has been driven around town for quite some time, but does not completely go away.
View 12 RepliesSo I have every so often been hearing a grinding noise coming from what I believe is my back brakes (only does it when I brake). It isn't every time I brake but it does seem to happen almost every time I back up out of my spot initially and touch the brakes. It happens almost everytime I brake when driving at a reasonable speed. Tiggy has like 53,000 on it.
I have looked online and I just don't have the tools or access to a garage to do them myself so I think I am going to have to bring it in. Any rough estimate of what it is going to cost me? Also, I just bought this used on 7/5/14, I was under the impression in California that they can't sell a car with having brakes that are this worn.
Today i took my wheels off and installed the anti rattle caliper clips. They were missing and my brakes were making a ton of noise so my tech recommended it. I have them installed properly from the instruction i was given, and all the sudden my brakes hardly work, and the pedal goes to the floor. Im not leaking brake fluid anywhere, and everything is hooked up and fastened properly.
View 14 RepliesI have just purchase a used one 2 weeks ago. I bought it from a local dealer (Longo Toyota). After I got the car home for a day it started to make noises when i brake. If the brake pedal is depress about half way it will make a squeaking noise when it comes to a stop. So i bought the car back in to the dealer and all they did was flush the system and reboted the computer. They said this is normal for some pruis to make a noise when the vehicle comes to a stop and it should not be a safety concern.

I called the shop this morning and they said that this sound was normal for awhile but to come back in a week if it persists. Is this sound advice, or should I be driving my car right back to the shop?

The other day I had my windows open while backing up and noticed that the brakes make a clicking noise when I initially apply them while in reverse.
This happens every time I'm in reverse and I apply the brakes.
The clicking is only when I first step on the brake, but it happens every time I first step on the brake in reverse.
Maybe this is unique to the LS600hL (2008)? Are brakes on my LS different from brakes on LS460 / LS460L?
I have a 2013 Prius v Three (lowercase v for Prius v not an uppercase and Three not III as Roman numerals were used for the 2010 Prius) model. Around 5k miles into owning my Prius, the brakes make a strange wailing noise in the cold. It doesn't last long and only occurs when it's really cold. Does this mean I'm going to have brake problems in the future? I'm going to insist that the dealership keeps my car overnight and test it early in the morning. A new car shouldn't be doing this!
View 6 RepliesA couple of weeks ago my 2005 Buick century start making a noise when i hit the brakes and all the lights on the dash lit up like a christmas tree. The noise it makes when i hit the brakes is like humming sound and the pedal will get kinda spungy and push in and out, if i keep driving it stops and all the lights come on (abs, trac off, service engine, and sometimes the brake light as if the parking brake is on) after all these lights come on the noises stop and the brake pedal works fine. I was told that the anti lock brake pump was going bad but I didn't realize there was a pump.

Right now I have a 2009 v6 mustang it probably doesn't matter for my question. This has been going on for awhile and I dealt with it cause I couldn't really hear with my music on. Whenever I push on the brakes to stop it makes a pretty noisy and annoying clicking noise until I stop. Not like that weird siren noise you can here from breaks but a click click click sound. What this might be? Brake calipers need a change or what? Last time I checked, probably last year, the brake calipers were still good.

(1) When I'm driving down the road, the dashboard lights / headlights will dim & then brighten; dim & then brighten. I feel just a little bit of lag in the gas peddle, but it has never stalled on me. It has had two new alternators installed since I've had it, along with the battery replaced a couple of times.
(2) In March, I got stuck in a snowbank. The car has a feature called "Traction Control". Ever since I managed to get myself "unstuck", my dummy lights on the dashboard go crazy -- Trac Off / Anti-Lock Brakes / Service Vehicle lights all come on and stay on. And, the car will make funky noises when I creep to a stop OR try to take off from a stop ... feels like the traction control is trying to work because of the noise (usually what it sounds like if I hit a patch of ice in the winter, but there's no ice this time) ... and the brake / gas peddle vibrate ... sometimes I have to stomp on the brake in order to make the car stop. My mechanic has tested the car / checked it for error codes / had replaced the brakes prior to the problem ... nothing shows signs of wear or fault.
I did lube my brakes 2 weeks ago (2nd I am doing it) and since then for the first couple of kms, the brakes are making a squeak noise. I think I put a little too much grease. Could it be the reason why its making noise ?
