Is there a way to prevent the radio from shutting off when ignition is turned off? I would prefer if it shut off when the keys are removed. The book is not so friendly as far as finding this kind of information.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2004 ford Escape and the radio won't turn off when the cars ignition is turned off. I have checked the interior lights and the windows and they turn off, so I'm assuming that the relay isn't the problem. I have asked a ford mechanic what he might think it would be and he said it could be the radio, but I don't think it is.
View 10 RepliesThis started today, when I turn off the ignition and remove the key the radio stays on and the steering column does not lock. The guy at the dealership suggested spraying wd 40 into the ignition. No go.
2008 sonata.
30-40 seconds after shutting down the engine, i can hear a single "clack/click" noise coming from under the hood, near the right wheel. Is it normal? What's moving, some sort of electrovalve/actuator?
I hear it being out of the car, inside it's not so easy to listen. It's well after I turn off the key and it does it only once. It's not really near the wheel, with the hood open i located the CLACK behind the engine (on the side near the windscreen), could it be something related with fap / etc.?
Have body work and/or any type of repair that required their doors be removed? I got my car back from the body shop and I'm noticing that the two doors that needed to be replaced just don't sound the same when they close compared to the other (factory) side. It's difficult to describe in text, but the original doors have a solid, singular and non-vibrating sound. The new doors seem more hollow and have what I would describe as a double-sounding close instead of a singular one. They sound like there's one extra vibration or movement when closing. I realize that this is probably not immensely important.

But things have advanced , radio shuts off , windows wont work? Goes on and off at will , does not seem to be road bump related as they go off and on when Im not moving.
Will stay off until I restart truck sometimes and other times it only stays off for a few minutes.
My key won't turn in the ignition and therefore can't start.
Since the problem started I did manage to get it to start maybe 3 times after playing around with it. But, the same problem repeats after shutdown.
Sent my car to the dealer already so waiting to see what they say. If it matters it's a 2009 Tiguan 2.0T 4Motion
Truck '02 F250 SuperCab - I was having an issue with the door ajar light staying on and the radio not shutting off upon exiting the truck. After having no luck with the WD-40 fix, I replaced the door switch sensor on the driver's side door and disconnected the negative battery cable for a few minutes (maybe 5-10).
Problem solved or so I thought...a few days later (approximately 5) the door ajar light came back on and the radio did not shut off. I disconnected the negative cable and sure enough that fixed it...again The problem is that every few days I have to go thru this. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but the CD player has started giving me "error reading disc" on even brand new CD's.
Couldn't find what it's called in the OM, it turns on my gauges and my low battery, epc, and CEL was on. But when I start the car, no codes are shown. Previously my Epc and CEL were on, not sure about battery.
View 6 RepliesIs it me or rattles are common thing in Tiguans? I can hear at least 3-4 different rattles when the radio is off. I eliminated one by pulling iPod interface unit out and applying some felt pieces around.
It is now snug and quiet. I still hear one coming from the front passenger door, one or two from the back seat and possibly one more from the trunk area. There is also a faint buzzing noise when I apply gas, it sound like a loose or rattling heat shield or something (can't pinpoint that one).
I also wanted to ask how to remove a door panel, I'd like to take a peak in it to see if I can find the culprit myself before I get "problem can not be replicated" from the dealer.
So I am hearing a weird noise when I start up my Tig after it's been sitting at least overnight. I'm not sure when it started because if the windows are up when I start I can't hear it inside, so for all I know it's been happening since before the warm weather arrived. But anyway... It's a brief rattle, kind of high and plastic-y, like maybe a half-second long or less, when I first start up. If I turn it off and then start it again, no rattle. Don't hear it again until the Tig has sat for a while.
No CELs or anything or other signs of trouble. It's a 2014 with 24k miles, bought CPO at 19k.
I have a 2009 Tiguan SE, and I am getting Ignition errors on VAGCOM regularly, but intermittent clicking noises coming from the steering column. When I clear the errors, they come back anyway.
Sounds like a relay or something, and I can actually FEEL the clicking when I hold onto the keyfob tightly. I'm sure some of you have run into this before. The clicking is quite random. Wondering if there's a simple fix for this, and what happens if you don't fix it?
I also have the noisy sunroof issue, which I find quite annoying.
This weekend I stopped my car, put it in park and turned it off (or so I thought). I was in a hurry so I didn't really look at the dash, I just left. When I returned to my car a few minutes later, it was still on. The dash was all lit up, the running lights were on, the stereo was searching for my phone, etc.
I put the key back in, turned it on and turned it to off position and the car shut off.
I'm going to speak to the mechanic when I take it in for an oil change next week, but it's a little worrisome.
Recently I found that the auto lighting (dashboard light) is acting weird. Sometimes in the middle of the day, the dashboard will be lighted up (I'm not going under a tunnel, or it's not dark outside). It has happened a couple times, but the dealership said they didn't find any problem.
This is on my 09 Tiguan. There are many other users with a 2010+ Tiguan and the lighting system is very different.
I have a dead car. My phaeton has been playing up as when you turn the key it did not always turnover its now been stood for a while and now the ignition won't come on when the key is turned. both the batteries are full and the key are recognized the only thing to come on is the info display center above the gear lever i have tried a new ignition switch and still nothing, any clues my car is 2004 v10 auto one last thing is there a way to unlock the gear lever as this not working as well...
View 2 Replies01 Elantra, once warmed up to running temp starts to run like a pig & wont idle, has new plugs/leads.
Funny thing is there is no engine check light, in fact it doesn't even come on for the 6 seconds when the ignition is first turned on at all.
Secondly I have OBD2/ELM327 with scanpro but it doesn't connect to the ECU.
We put it into a shop & they claim they were able to connect to ecu but gave no codes which I find a bit strange.
Went to see a movie, Vehicle was running fine. Then, on the drive home I noticed there was no turbo boost at all. Was a struggle trying to pass someone going 10km faster than me. Got home, Reverse the Vehicle into my parking spot then the engine died. Car wont start now. Sounds and feels like the fuel pump went, turns over, a mere whisper of the engine trying to get going, but never does. Plugged it in, getting misfire codes. Checked the Diverter valve and seems to be fine, checking the front PVC Valve tomorrow. Its just really strange how the turbo wasn't functioning at all, but the vehicle ran all the way home, Then died when i backed it in my spot. and now wont start. Its throwing me off, All i can think of is Coil Packs, spark plugs, Diverter Valve, PVC valve. 2010 Tiguan 2.0t.....

View 24 RepliesLately when i take my key out of the ignition, my radio stays on and my car will chime with the door open as if the key was still in the ignition (and it lasts for different periods of time). I also have found it more difficult to get the key in and out. Obviously there is something wrong with the ignition.

View 2 RepliesI noticed one of the adjustments for the Carista 3.0 is to Open vents to outside air when ignition is turned off. The factory default was set to *Yes*. I changed it to No because I was thinking when it's really warm outside (I live in warmer part of silicon valley) and you crank up the A/C and then park outdoors, opening the vents to the outside will warm the car faster. Don't know whether my assumption is correct or not?
