My Tiguan is 2013 with 3k miles on it. There is a rattling sort of noise in the 2-3k RPM range which I think is turbo related. It is much louder when cold and quieter when warmed up. Is that normal turbo noise in the Tiguan? If so, why does it minimize when warm? And why does it not continue above 3k RPM? My Audi A4 with similar 2.0 Turbo does not make this noise.
View 9 RepliesAny 'rattle' from their front suspension when going over high-frequency, low speed bumps (manhole covers, potholes etc)?Sounds like a loose strut mount or shock. It's not a creaking sound - a definite rattle - so I don't think it's the engine mount issue that I've read about elsewhere. Car is brand new and is going in for a 60 day courtesy check in a couple of weeks.
View 24 RepliesWe have a 2013 Hyundai Accent under 57,000 miles and is been making a rattling noise for a little while now. A few times we mention to the dealer when we had the oil change that we heard a noise and it was driving us crazy, for a while they couldn't hear it. We took our car to an independent mechanic and they heard the noise right away, did an oil change and told us to take it back to the dealer because it could be the engine.
We did and they don't know where the noise is coming from, they order some parts and told us that our extended warranty could be void because we didn't use their oil. Is this even legal? They gave us a paper that says since 2012 not to use another oil that is not from Hyundai, they never mention that before and we feel we been taken advantage.
I have this noise, and it has become very annoying as it occurs at the engine midrange rpms.
It is buzzing/howling noise that comes on above 2500-3000rpm, whether it is in gear/underload or in neutral/park. It is noticed most while in sport as it holds lower gears longer.
Electric aux water pump was replaced not so long ago. Have read about the wastegate rattle issue, but im not sure.
Took it to the dealer about two weeks ago for this and the tech said he could not even hear it on the test drive.

2011 2.0TSI Tiptronic 4motion 170ps 55000km
Couple months ago I picked up a 12 GTI. This is my first car with a turbo so I don't know what to expect. I noticed on days that are in the high 70's and 80's when I'm accelerating I can hear what sounds like air from the turbo.
I took it to my dealer they did a full inspect and said nothing is wrong. Noticed a small creaking noise from the radio/dash??
when I bought my 2003 gti 1.8t it had a small exhaust leak, I decided to investigate today and found that the downpipe flange and turbo flange was rattling around, there's almost 1/16" of play and it's making a rattling noise. I can't tighten the nuts on the studs any more but that might just be from them being seized in place. I'm getting a new gasket and studs and nuts and hopefully that will fix it?

View 24 RepliesI have a 2003 6.0l did a rebuild on it. Got it all back together runs ok, but the turbo is making noise. I can unplug the actuator and the noise stops. How can I check the actuator. now the noise is of course when it is running.. but unplugged the noise stops.
View 2 RepliesExperiencing this sound after driving the car for the first time in 5 months. It was parked outdoors in NJ weather since December with the handbreak off. I thought I experienced this sound last year as well, but only after not driving it for 3 weeks with handbreak on. I hear the sound everytime I step on the breaks. I think the last time, the sound went away after driving/stepping on the breaks after a short drive. Is this normal?
View 2 RepliesSo we've recently surpassed 11,000 miles on our 2010 Wolfsburg. Overall we really love the Tiguan and aside from a few minor issues, it's been trouble free.
Over the past month I've been putting a lot of miles in doing some out of state travel and have been on some roads that lets say, have been less than smooth ... lots of potholes (filled and not), old pavement, etc and I'm starting to get, or maybe just notice some squeaks and rattles.
Most of them seem to be coming from trim points ... at least thats how it sounds, but the one that is really annoying me the most is the drivers side sun visor. Even when locked into position there's a little bit of play in the visor and it's a really annoying squeak.
My 2001 SL2 is making a lot of rattling noise. I think I have isolated it to the A/C compressor. I noticed that on the back side of the A/C clutch the plate where the signal wire connects into is very loose when the A/C is not on. The noise seems to be loudest when the A/C is not on. But when I turn on the A/C, that plate tightens up. But the noise continues. Could it just be the A/C clutch or a bearing or something? Or is the noise coming from somewhere not even related to the A/C? The A/C still works really well. I just notice the noise.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 1.8t jetta. I got it in the fall and never really needed to turn on my AC until this week. It works, fans work at all speeds, blows ice cold air.
But i noticed today that my fans can be on and nothing. But when I hit the AC button there's a loud rattling sound. Everything works. It's just making noise when the AC is on. Whenever I turn it off the noise goes away.
I tried looking it up and couldn't find anything.
2004 Santa Fe AC fan has started making a rattling noise. It gets louder when the fan is turned up. How can I check it? Noise seems to be under the glove box.
View 3 RepliesThe steering on my wife's 2010 Tiguan makes a bit of a grinding/rubbing noise at low speeds? Something isn't right, it sounds the same way my X5 did when the Rack needed to be replaced. It would be strange to have 2 cars needing new racks within the same year....especially since they are both 2010 model.

View 6 Replies I bought a new ABT Quad Tip Exhaust and replace the stock, it looks nice, but it has a ear drum killer drone between 2000 - 3000 rpm at all gears, and it peaks at around 2500 rpm.
Under 2000 rpm and above 3000 rpm, the exhaust is silent and i can actually hear the engine noise.
I don't know about all you other B6 owners, but my dash rattles and makes an annoying noise on every bump. The noise is similar to speakers crackling (bad description).
View 14 RepliesEngine oil has been changed and spark plugs changed. The engine is still making rattling/clicking noise. I checked with a mechanic and he indicated that engine needs to be repaired. Didn't say exactly what needs to be done and stated it would cost about $2200 for parts and labor. Why the engine keeps rattling and making the noise? Oh, before plugs were changed, the engine was shutting off at times when in idle mode.
View 5 RepliesI have a 1995 Ford Mustang GT. I've had it for 4 years now, and the engine rattles mostly when the RPMs are between 1500 and 2000, just after pressing the gas. Sometimes it does it when the RPMs are higher, around 2500, and sometimes it does it regardless of RPM after I've been driving it for a long duration. It's done this since I bought it, so it's not a pressing issue, but I'd still like to get it fixed.
