Tiguan :: 2011 - While Applying The Brakes The RPMs Will Go Up While Slowing Down

Aug 17, 2011

Just got the Tiguan SE- love it! We have had it for about 3 weeks. I noticed sometimes while applying the brakes, the RPM's will go up as I am slowing down. I know the car has to move between gears when slowing down or speeding up, but it almost as if it gets "stuck" in a gear when the car is slowing down. Any thoughts, input? We don't drive fast, we apply the brakes and gas slowly to ease the car in. This just seems odd as my past car (2005 Maza 3) did not do this. I am new the VW family so maybe I am just not used this.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Ticking Sound When Slowing Down (applying Brakes) At 35 / 30 Mph

I am getting a ticking sound when i am slowing down (applying my brakes) at say 35/30mph. The sound stops when I stop. This problem starts after my car warms up; doesn't do it when I first start up.

I've taken the car to 2 Hyundai dealerships and a certified mechanic and the problem continues. I first noticed this about a month ago.

So far no one seems to be able to find the problem. The mechanic did try by replacing the front brake pads. He said something about a "shims piece " and thought if we replace the front pads that would take care of the problem. The rear brakes or ok.

I'm still having the problem and I wonder if it's the rear brakes after all. I don't know what I can try now. Someone suggested going to Brake Check. I have about 1000 miles left on the original warranty.

Ford Brakes/Suspension :: Squealing Noise When Applying Moderate Brake Pressure And Slowing Down

2005 F-250 6.0 4x4. After about 50,000 miles on my original brakes, they started to make a squealing noise when applying moderate brake pressure and slowing down around 30mph-0mph. It only happens after Ive driven the truck about 30 mins. It must be warmed up. After 100,000 I decided to change the brakes.....they had plenty of life left on them, but I changed them anyway. I put on new rotors and pads and calipers in the front because one was hanging.

After about 10,000 miles, the exact same squeal has returned. With the windows down, its loud enough to physically hurt your ears if you are next to a car and the sound can bounce back into the cab. It sounds terrible. I thought it was the front brakes, so I took them apart this weekend to put in some Disc Brake Quiet. They pads look great, plenty left, the rotors look great, no grooves. Everything is tight. I relubed pins and brackets and clips. Today...same squeal still. I am at a complete loss here. It is some sort of harmonic squeal and the only thing I can figure is that the rears are the culprit. I have a drivers rear caliper that will hang and stick if you drive it really hard, so I am considering replacing the rear calipers too and do the disc brake quiet treatment there as well. Im not confident this will solve the problem.

Like I said, its so loud you can't drive with the windows down. Its a piercing squeal. Is there anything else that I can check? I can't imagine others don't do this. Its so loud and pronounced that it must be some sort of design flaw or something.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Squealing Only When Lightly Apply Pressure On Brakes Slowing Down

Me and a friend changed just the front brake pads on my hyundai sonata 2012 limited turbo (about 55$ ceramic Wagner thermo-quiets)about a week ago . This was the first ever brake job done for the car so I assumed the rotors were fine . We made sure it was greased up everywhere it was supposed to (Didn't replace or turn them) since then my front brakes have been squealing only when I lightly apply pressure on the brakes slowing down , and goes away completely when pressed down harder. I realized I should have probably changed or turned my rotors after I already drove with the new pads on the old rotors for about a week so it's probably too late now. I am just wondering whether this noise go away eventually (what I initially figured it would) from the pads perhaps wearing back into the old rotors ? Or am I better off not waiting for this because the noise won't to away and I should just change the pads again along with the rotors!?

Tiguan :: 2011 - Transmission Bump / Lunge With Brakes Applied

Sometimes when I stop at a light about 5 seconds after I come to a complete stop, I'll feel a bump in my transmission likes its trying to lunge forward. Today I started my car and put it in drive and when I did so with the brake applied, it was rhythmically bumping once every 2 second or so, almost like a heartbeat. It did it about 15 times and I shut my car off, started back up and it hasn't done it since. I know the first issue is somewhat common but the second one where it kept doing it was really weird. It has about 35k miles and is already on its second tranny(per car fax changed at 2k).

Subaru - Outback :: 2011 - RPMs Are Much Higher Than When The Engine Idles If Use Brakes

When I use my automatic transmission to slow my vehicle on steep downhills, the RPMs are much higher than when the engine idles because I use my brakes. The pistons are firing many more times per minute - so am i using more gas? Is the answer different for a standard transmission?

My "mystery vehicle" is a 2011..... outback...

Tiguan :: DRLs Turn Off When Applying Electronic Parking Brake?

I just noticed yesterday when I used the electronic Parking Brake. When I engaged the Electronic Parking brake, the DRL Indicator (light) on the dash went off. I did not go outside of the vehicle to see if they actually turned off (the vehicle was still running). Is that normal?

Camry :: Car Started To Shudder When Applying Brakes

I have a 2003 Camry LE 4cly. Approx 150k miles. Car has been a good Camry. About 6 months ago it started to shudder when applying brakes. At first I thought rotors, but it seemed speed dependent. When over 40 it happens more often and more strongly. After the car gets below 10 to 20 the shudder ceases. Front pads are in reasonable shape. Rotating tires does not affect the shudder. Has never effected handling of vehicle. Brakes work without fail, just shudder in front end and steering wheel. I tried flushing the system, had not done that previously. Fluid was yellow, but not black. After the flush, the system seemed to shudder less, but still have the intermittent shudder. There are no error code for ABS, and the light is not on and does not come on.

Golf VI R :: Slight Vibration When Applying The Brakes

So having done a single track day, I feel like my rotors must have warped, as there is now a slight vibration when applying the brakes. This is very surprising as I don't do anything out of the ordinary, and tried to use brakes intelligently, including a proper cool down lap and so on. Is this normal? What are my options for making life better? Is there some set of rotors I should get that wouldn't be prone to warping like this? Is it a question of pads?

Lumina :: 98 (base) Hissing Noises On Applying Brakes

1998 base model, 3.1, about 232,000 miles on it.

purchased at about 45,000 miles and always had a slight "hissing " noise when I apply the brake.

Yesterday the car was parked on a very slight incline. Emergency brake was applied. a/c was on . I returned about 5 minutes later and heard a "hissing" type of sound. It seemed to be coming from under the dash on drivers side.

As I put my foot on the brake and shifted into reverse the noise stopped. Today at various times I have the same noise.

I've owned at least 40 cars in the last 50 years and this car has the very worse brakes of all . I've tried all types of pads, etc. The rear cylinders rebuilt about 150,000 miles ago. Master cylinder is original.

Passat (B6) :: Suspension Noise When Reversing And Applying Brakes

I had been hearing bang noise from my front suspension at certain times like when reversing car and applying brakes. It was happening since I bought my car and every time I have complained about it to local VW service guys, I was told by them that they cannot replicate the noise so there is nothing wrong. I even told them to have a look at front suspension bushings but again they said everything is fine.

Last week I went for 45.000KM Service and I complained about the same issue again and luckily this time service advisor heard the noise himself. Next day, they called me to inform that my front lower arm bushings needs to be replaced, front brake pads and discs, and front wheel bearings as well. In my response I told them that bushings were bad for long time and no one figured it out earlier and due to this my front brake discs had abnormal wear along with the wheel bearings.

I am still trying to relate that it is technically possible for brake discs at least to wear off earlier if the suspension bushings are bad as when you apply brakes, the brake discs are stressed heavily as the bushing are not absorbing any stress.

I would like to have thoughts on this matter. Just let me know if my understanding is correct or it does not makes any sense and technically would not be proved.

Just to let you know that it is 3.2 4motion model. My driving is average within 120 KM speed and never hit any potholes etc. Plus my brake pads indicator never went on.

Accent RB (2012+) :: Crunch Sound When Applying Brakes

I haven't noticed it before but applying the brakes after driving thru snow I get an awful crunch sound. I have stopped the car a few times to look and it appears the wheel wells are clogged with slush but I don't know if that's whats causing it. After the crunching sound if I'm driving on a clear road there is no noise if I brake. Its much worse than say the crunch you get if the brakes are wet. Whats up with this?

Passat (B7) :: Pedal Feels Almost Loose When Applying The Brakes

2014 Passat... I've got a little over 2,000 miles on mine now and I really do like the car. However, one thing that is really bothersome to me is----the brakes.

I'm not sure if it is specific to my car or to the passat in general. Here's the issue:

When applying the brakes, the pedal feels almost loose, as though the is no pressure on it, but once you push the pedal down far enough the brakes come on heavy, hard and fast. It's like turning on a light switch.

I am wondering if this is an adjustment that I can have done at the dealer to put more feel into the brakes or if this is just something that we all have to live with, of if maybe there could be something wrong with the brakes on my car.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Rear Drums Clicking When Applying Brakes?

I am having a issue with my 07 accent. Had front rotors and pads replaced because they needed to be. Clicking continued. Had drums and shoes replaced last month. Clicking went away for a few weeks. Recently started back up just the other day. The clicking is only when applying the brake and it sounds like it is coming from the right rear drum. It doesn't interfere with stopping, but it s so annoying and brakes shouldn't make that kind of noise anyway.

I have a Santa Fe 2010 2.4 awd 6AT with 20000km, I live in Ushuaia, Argentina, here the use of salt is normal in winter (a lot of salt). I have one winter and the second is coming with this SUV. Today I was in a road at 120km/h (75mph) and I had to apply brakes. In that moment I noted a little vibration on the steering wheel. After release brake pedal, the vibration disappeared. I checked again with same results, is been posible that my brake discs could be damaged or something is wrong with the brake system? I didn't have any light of malfunction. What is the normal life of brakes discs and pads in a santa fe with normal use?

I am using ceramic pads and have never used them before. Is this common with them?
