Tiguan :: 2009 Engine Stalled While Driving - Faint Squealing Noise
Jun 23, 2013
Ok so I have a 09 tiguan S that stalled yesterday while driving only a few short min. My wife had been driving home about 4 miles when she got home I could hear a faint squealing noise as she pulled up. I left right after and assumed it was the the ac belts it that exist, so to verify that I turned off the ac and the sound did fade. I drove with it off for a few min then turned it on again the car acted normal and cooled just fine then about 5 min later I pulled into a lot and while waiting for others to move the engine stalled and I had the engine light, epc and battery lights showing. Now it was something like 110 outside and I thought overheated but the temp gauge showed normal and I received no warnings. I smelled a burned rubber smell and I recall seeing a small puff of smoke. I could not locate anything that could have burned out. The only thing I could see that was unusual was what looked like buildup on the air intake tubes.

I have a 2009 Corolla 1.8 with 18,000 miles on it. My wife mainly drives it, today after getting it washed, I was driving and noticed a very faint noise from the engine compartment. Seems to be coming from the passenger front. The sound is something like grr grr grr.... I made sure it's not the wheels by putting the car in neutral and giving it gas which made the sound audible (I can also hear it while idling).
I had my wife sit in the car with me, and she couldn't hear anything, but I can, so I'm afraid when I go to the dealer he will say the same "I can't replicate the noise". What it can be?

Wife's 2011 Tiguan just stalled when she was driving it. both fuel pumps were replaced about 2 years ago when we bought it used because they faulty. After talking to my wife, I realized that she has been putting 89 in it. I'm just curious if using 89 for an extended period of time could be causing this issue? I had her pick up an octane booster because she just filled up with 89.

My wife and I have a 2002 Golf, Manual transmission, 2.0L, L4, 8V with 178xxx ODO.
About a year ago I started hearing a very faint squeal that would always squeal, regardless of A/C use, no power loss is felt, in fact, the A/C works great and the car runs perfectly. But after a year of driving and 1 big road trip, the sound is now unbearable.
I recently replaced the alternator, belt tensioner, and threw on a new belt, but still, the squeal persists. After holding a rubber hose to my ear and moving through each accessory pulley with the other end of the hose, like a ghetto stethoscope, I know that it is definitely coming from the A/C compressor pulley.
I found a video on the Youtube that perfectly catches the same squeal (not my car, not my video) [URL]....
Since the A/C compressor has a clutch, and the outer pulley is constantly spinning with the serpentine and there is no noticeable difference in the noise whether I am using the A/C or not, I think that the outer bearings on that clutch need to be replaced.
Should I just replace the whole clutch and any good DIY threads on this? I've looked but all I can find is a DIY for a TDI, which I don't know if it's the same compressor or not.

2009 Subraru Impreza Outback Sport (60K miles).. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my clutch. When I start my car I hear a squealing noise from the engine that sticks around until my car is warmed up. If I depress the clutch while it's warming up (and squealing), it goes away. Bearing?

I have had my Tiguan about a month ago and it has started getting cold. I noticed that when taking a right turn at a stop sign, there is a very faint clicking noise (sounds like it is coming from the front left wheel). On my way home today, I turned right at a yield and the road was a little bumpy. When turning right, I heard a clunking noise coming from the same area. It does not always make this noise. The car is under warranty, but I am afraid if I take it to the dealership, they will just tell me they couldn't find anything.

Our 07 RX350 has 47,000 miles and I just starting to hear (I think from the front) a faint rattling noise while driving. It's hard to describe but it sort of sounds like what you might expect if an empty plastic bottle was slowly bumping around in a plastic box. It is not a metal on metal type of noise. The shocks/struts appears to pass the old bounce test and the car does not seem to display any of the handling issues you get when you have worn shocks/struts.
I also checked the upper engine compartment to see if any plastic shrouds or covers were loose - they weren't.

On Friday the engine in my V8 stalled while driving at approx 40 mph. I shut it off and restarted, and it idled very rough and stalled again. I had it towed home. Tried starting it at home. started and idled fine. Just went out this AM, started it and drove it around the neighborhood, ran fine. The check engine light never came on at any time. I had noticed one of the variable intake linkage arms as being busted and thought that was the cause. I now understand that that is most likely not related.
So, where does this leave me? As I was listing too it running, I noticed a faint humming coming from this thing on top of the motor. Underneath the VW logo cover is a round black plastic piece with a large hose attached to the side, and a hose coming out the bottom. If I tilt this slightly, the humming stops. I realize this probably has nothing to do with the stalling, but I'm fishing.
Why the car stalled, and/or if this crankcase ventilation/emissions device should be humming.

I have a 2009 Tiguan SE 4Motion with a little over 82K miles on it. Hard to pin point exactly but somewhere around 65 - 68K the vehicle started shaking, noticeably but not ridiculously while driving at a decent speed, 50 mph seems to be the speed where it's most notable. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as the tires needed to be replaced. I had the tires replaced a few K later but the shake was the same. I took it back to the dealer who did the basic balance troubleshooting but they were unable to find anything. I pressed them and they did some additional troubleshooting but then I felt like I was wasting my time with that dealer because they started looking at the floor and talking nonsense about road conditions.
I feel the shaking regardless of road surface or speed, noticeable but not violent, 50mph and steady seems to be most noticeable. I feel that it is transmission/drive train related because everything else it could be has been checked or changed but I could be wrong. I feels like it's directly under the vehicle, I have sat in different seats while someone else drove and it doesn't seem to be more noticeable on one side or another. When on the highway going a steady speed on it will increase and decrease seemingly randomly. It hasn't really gotten any worse over the past 15K miles or I would have brought it to a different dealer, but it really bothers me, especially since my Tiguan was so smooth when I bought it.

My throw out bearing makes a faint chirping noise since I bought the car, but now that the weather has been in teens, it seems to be louder.
I was wondering if it is possible to grease the throw out bearing or something without dropping the transmission.

I just put in my LED kit and no matter what polarity I try the front and rear domes are faint and flicker when turned on by a door opening. They work fine when turned on by the dome switches. I did the rear domes first and after some switching of bulbs they started to work. I went and did the front domes and again after some switching they seemed to work, but now they're acting up again when I open a door.

2 days ago my 2000 Hyundai accent Gl 1.5 stalled while driving i lost no power to my electrical system all my lights and stereo stayed on but i lost all engine power the check engine light popped on and i had to have a friend tow me home this has never happened to me before. I had sat in my yard for about a year before i started driving it again due to money problems. I did a tune up on it before I took it out anywhere and ran some lucas injector cleaner and changed oil added some oil additive and changed my air filter spark plugs seemed fine so I didn't replace them and it ran for almost a month just fine i have about 150k in miles on it then suddenly just died while driving home from work I am thinking its in my fuel lines filter or pump are clogged up but I am not sure. I am going to start diagnosing it tomorrow. I can't get the check engine light looked at cuz I can't get it started.

The water pump was the culprit for the noise. So my 2013 gs350 with just over 40k miles started making a clicking and squealing noise during start up and while driving. I took a video of the noise when started cold without the a/c on.
I've already taken it in to the dealer for service but out of curiously, what the problem may be? I'll provide an update after the the dealer completes service.

I have a 2014 2.0T and have noticed that my car is making a noise that sounds like a belt squealing. I thought the sound was being produced by the brakes. I only notice when I drive the car from a cold start.

I have a 2011 Elantra with about 18,000Km on it. I'm now hearing intermittent high pitch squealing when driving below 40km/hr, seems to be coming from the right side but it's hard to tell.
It tends to go away when I apply the brakes or accelerate. I doubt it's the brake pads.
I remember some time ago while servicing the car at the dealership after the first two years, they recommend to have the brakes cleaned. I opted to not do as I thought it was a cash grab.

So I drove my car (2000 vw golf tdi auto) to work fine. When I started it to drive home, it squealed and then all of a sudden stopped squealing so I popped my hood and looked and the belt can fit 2 fingers under it. Is there anything I can check diagnose this? I hear it could b a tensioner pulley.

Had very cold weather the past few weeks. Took my car out early in the morning last Thursday (after warming it up) and there was a loud squealing noise from the heater for about 2 minutes when I was driving five minutes from my driveway. Since then, I have this faint squealing noise that can be heard anytime that heater is on. It loud on the first two settings.
Took it to Toyota and they said it was normal due to the cold but from past cars I've owned, it looks like the blower motor could be on it's way out? Can this be true? Car has 11,000 miles on it.

2003 Hyundai Elantra.
Driving on the highway and thought I heard a belt squeal. Looked at temp gauge, overheating in the red. Stopped car. Antifreeze on passenger side sprayed around, hard to tell from where.
Waiting a while, put a good amount of water in it as there seemed to be no anti-freeze left. Drove a bit more and it started going up on temp gauge. Pulled off highway on an exit, temp gauge went back down before I could pull over.
So I continued on the highway. The temp gauge would go back up to 3/4, then I'd put it in neutral to cost to a better place to stop, and the gauge would go back to halfway.. continued this for several miles to get home. Never overheated again, but kept getting "hot"(3/4) and dropping back down to normal (1/2)...

I had my Prius for almost 4 years and I'm used to all the hybrid noises: brake pump after opening the door, emission control pump hours after driving, high pitched inverter noise in EV, etc. This is different. Very faint and I only noticed it because I opened the hood right after driving. The car was completely off, but there was some small electric motor activated somewhere inside the engine. Is this electric coolant pump?

My 2001 Saab 9-5 has 156,000 miles and is generally in fine working condition. An irregularity in starting began about two months ago which will happen say once every twenty times the car is driven for more than twenty minutes or so.
The car always starts when the engine is cold, first time each day. After driving for awhile then stopping for a quick errand, more than 90% of the time the car will restart, less then 10 % of the time it does not. The engine does not crank at all, only a faint click noise. I can try starting again a number of times with the same noise and result.
However, after 20-25 minutes have passed the car will start as it normally should. Seems to me somehow the problem relates to the cooling off period. Does this make sense?
Is it a switch, a loose wire on the starter, internal wear on the starter motor? Is it a clue that it takes about the same amount of time before it will restart?
