I drive an '01 Tahoe Burb....latley once I hit about 45 and faster theres a roaring sound...a better description is this...Like a truck thats been lifted with big tires....that kind of roar or hum that the tires make the faster it goes....only I have regular tires..and it isn't coming from the tires....its coming from under the hood.

It has 65k on it and my wife drives fast and hard.
Prius owner. I have 200,000 miles on the car and have done nothing except change the oil, tired and battery. No other maintenance was performed.
While driving straight the front wheel seems to vibrate some and make a whirring/roaring sounds. When turning to the left the noise is greatly reduced. When turning to the right it still exists.
Any potential causes? Possibly the struts? They as well as all the front end components are original.
When starting my car first thing in the morning, for the first few minutes there is a loud roaring seems like. The sound subsides and the car sounds normally after a little bit. The next issue is when I start the car after it is already warm. It starts very strange...It is a little hard to describe. As soon as you hit the starter it just turns over instantly, seems almost prematurely. And when you go to shut the car off, it just seems like it makes a loud noise and the motor abruptly shuts off. I am not too educated with vehicles, and I am just looking for some input. I just purchased this car a week ago with 82,200 miles on it I have never driven a Buick before so these things may be normal.
View 4 RepliesI gotta a roaring noise coming from my right front while turning. Planning on replacing just the wheel bearings tomorrow & not the whole hub assembly(2008 2wd). Is there a thread that lays out the steps and other parts I may need? I've seen alot different stories on the net on how to do it. Everthing from I can press new bearings to I have to do 4x4 hub conversion. Seems to be some confusion.

View 16 RepliesMy wife's car is an '05 Camry SE, V-6, 60K miles. Just recently, I start to hear a roaring sound starting about 35-40 mph. It sounds like a rear wheel bearing. I jacked up the front end and ran the car in drive, but did not hear anything unusual. I jacked up the rear and shook the wheels in and out and did not notice any play or wobble. I drove about 45-50 on a straight road and swerved gently from right to left and vice versa, but could not determine where the sound is coming from. How do I narrow my inspection to determine if it is a wheel bearing, and which bearing is bad?
View 11 RepliesI hit a pot hole. Front left tire went flat and wheel damaged. I changed tired and wheel. After that humming or cyclic roaring sound is coming from front of car when speed goes above 30mph. Front middle or front-right side I can't really say for sure exactly from where it is coming but it is front. What it could be. It's not bad so far. I can still drive at 65mph.

View 8 RepliesI have a 2009 Sonata (4 cyl) with 110,000 miles.I have a loud roaring noise coming from my right front end. Jacked car up several times, all seems very tight and wheel spins smoothly. This has been going on for over 5000 miles and I have been waiting for the ailment to show its self more clearly in order to diagnose. sound does not change when turning in either direction or breaking. sound increases with speed and is quite loud at 55mph. Had to replace a tire and put it on the right front to see if it was tire wear and there was no change. sounds like loud road noise.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 GMC Senoma 4WD. I have recently noticed a roaring noise in the area of the left front wheel, The noise is associated with rotation of the wheel. There is no unusual tire wear or shimmy. I rarely use the 4WD however when I engage the 4LO option the noise gets louder.
View 3 RepliesWhile on a recent 800 mile trip, by the end of it (on interstate driving) a roaring noise was coming from the from tires. A quick inspection showed nothing amiss. It's a 2001 Volvo XC70 with 108,000 miles. The Michelin tires were new at 100k. No shimmering or shaking at higher/lower speeds or changing lanes. Just the annoying new roar as the car gets going over 20mph.
View 7 RepliesOn my 96' Explorer 4wd, 4L V6, auto tranny the front end makes a roaring noise when slowing down from 30mph to stop; no shimmy or shake or any other noise, it has 133K miles on it, original wheel bearings; just wondering if it is wheel bearing assembly and are these pressed on or can you remove them and replace with new assembly fairly easily. Are there any threads with the procedure here.......
View 11 RepliesI have a 2003 f350 4x4 lariat lifted 3 inches on 35s. I am getting a a roaring and vibration in the right side of the front end when I make a hard left turn. Don't get it going straight or right and get it more in the throttle. My mechanic and I thought it was the front right hub bearing/assembly. So we replaced it and the noise and vibration is still there and now there a shimmy in the steering.
View 14 RepliesI got an 08 F150 2wd. I noticed lately a mild roaring noise coming from right front wheel, but it only does it when I'm turning left. There is nothing while driving straight or during right hand turns. Only happens during left hand turning.
View 1 RepliesI have a 97 F150, 2wd, 4.6, auto bought for a great price agout 3 months ago.... I installed a cold air intake (air raid) and a throttle body spacer with the swirling cuts.
Since the cold air intake add, the truck occasionally makes a load "roaring" sound from the intake system. At same time rpms increase 500-1000 rpms...
it doesn't do it all the time, mostly at low throttle, and a quick jab on the accelerator usually stops it. sometimes such as when parking, holding the brake and applying a bit of throttle with load from the brake will also stop it.
Guys at local garage seem to think it has something to do with lower outside temps, (denser) and addition of cold air intake. it made the noise before the throttle body spacer.
I have fairly new brakes on my 97 Chevy Tahoe with 202,000+ miles. For the last several months when I come to a stop, sometimes the brakes make a grinding sound (or 'boy-yoi-yong' sound- it's hard to tell) and the brake pedal feels like it 'slips' although the brakes do always stop the car. The brake don't always do this but it happens at least once or twice a day. Sometimes the problems is very mild, other times it's very noticeable. have it checked by two mechanics and they can't get the brakes to misbehave so they can't find the problem. All they did was flush the brake fluid twice and tell me it MIGHT be the master cylinder or the ABS system. My husband got laid off from his job and I am disabled. We can't afford to start fixing everything the mechanics THINK might be wrong with the brakes.
View 3 RepliesSo today while driving, on pavement, I noticed a low humming coming from my right front tire, looked under the car, everything looked fine, the boot ect. The hum starts at about 25mph and speeds up consistently w/ my driving speed. The truck itself is riding just fine, normal, no issues, but the humming almost seems to have gotten more noticeable throughout today. What could it be? How do I go about diagnosing it?
View 3 RepliesI have an '04 chevy tahoe, only 70k. Very recently the front end of the car has started to shutter while driving. This happens when I am going generally above 45mph- more so going up a hill. It feels a little bit like I am driving over unevenness/ripples in the road- even when it's smooth flat pavement. When I take my foot off the accelerator and just coast the vibration stops. I got new tires put on front so it is not a wheel balance issue. The car does not pull left or right either like out of alignment. And the engine rmp's do not fluctuate/strain when the shuttering starts.

View 7 RepliesI have a 2004 Z71 Chevy Tahoe with 192,000 miles that runs great. The issue I have though is the electrical system is going haywire (no pun intended). The front A/C and heater stopped responding to the level knob, therefore doesn’t blow, the dash lights will periodically dim and go off, the horn doesn't work when I want it to, and the A/C would sometimes blow warm air when it did work. The A/C used to work on all levels of the dial, and then over time, level by level, they stopped working; however, the back blower works well on both A/C and heater, which is operated by the overhead control knob. I open the front vents to allow outside air in, rather than recirculated air, and the air coming out of the vents is A/C air, but it only blows when I'm driving of course.
