The volume control on my stereo stopped working today. The radio turns on, but the volume controls do not increase/decrease the volume. It is stuck at whatever volume it was at before this problem started. When I turn the volume knob, I see the volume level numbers increasing and decreasing in the upper right corner of the touchscreen, but obviously the volume stays put.

Sometimes the volume button on the stereo nor the buttons on the steering button do not increase or decrease the volume. I can turn the stereo on and off - still the same. If I turn the engine off and on - this issue goes away. It's only just started happening in the past few weeks.
View 7 RepliesI have the stock radio in my sonata and the radio volume will randomly decrease until its at zero. When I attempt to turn the volume back up it will continue to go back down. It does this regardless of weather the automatic volume control is on or off. From time to time none of the buttons on the dash for the radio will work either. The volume controls on the steering wheel are also messed up. The volume up button mutes the radio, the volume down increases the volume and the mute button changes the mode. I tried pulling the fuse to reset everything and that didn't fix it.

View 11 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS with 55,000 miles. I was told to replace the plugs and battery by my local automotive shop. I decided to do it myself to save a couple of dollars just this past week. I filled up the car today and noticed the MPG dropped significantly. Normally a full the tank shows I have 420 miles to go. Today it showed 370 a difference of 50 miles.
I have two ideas why this happened:
1) Replacing the battery has caused the computer to reset and as a result it is showing the wrong mileage. After a week or two of running the correct mileage will show. I drove the car about 150 miles after changing the battery and thought this would of been enough time for the computer to figure out the MPG if this was the problem.
2) I caused damage to the Iridium plugs when I gapped them and did not notice it. I used Autolite XP6203 model and gapped them at .044. Autolites do not come pre-gapped I was told. The car is not hesitating and runs smooth. I am thinking this is the problem but not 100% certain.
Is my idea about the computer valid and I should give it some time to recalculate MPG? I am thinking to give it a couple of tanks of gas and see if the car fixes itself
Since I got Prius I've noticed that driving at 50mph returns 80+mpg , 90+mpg if I let it gently glide at -1mph per 1 mile. As it gradually slows down, the mileage starts to decrease. By the time I get down to 45 mph the mileage shows around 70mpg,
I get down to 40mph, I'm only getting 50mpg. When I keep my speed between 40 and 45 I get about 52-55 mpg for the day. If I keep my speed between 45 and 50, I get 55-60mpg for the day.
My Santa Fe is doing a pop sound, like a clunk, when I increase or decrease the speed. It is just one time noise every time the speed changes. Like when the "gravity center" changes from the car front to rear or vice-versa.
I notice already that doesn't happen when it's shifting, neither when I go over a speed bump.
It happens in all gears, but is more noticeable up to the 4th gear.
Also, usually I can hear this noise, a little bit lower, when I'm stopped and change the gear from P to R or vice-versa.
My Santa Fe is a 2011 model with 70K kilometres ....
How do you decrease/increase the sensitivity of the Remote Touch Interface (console-controlled pointer)? I'm really missing the mouse pointer I had on my previous ES, and am sick of overshooting my target in making a selection.
View 8 RepliesSymptoms : You will hear a squeaking noise from the passenger side of the car. It will increase and decrease with engine RPM, and apparently can be heard from inside the car as well. This noise is from the tensioner bearings failing...which, if gone untreated, will then cause the serpentine belt to fail.
If the belt fails, it seems that the battery light will come on, followed by engine coolant temperature spike (overheat).

Recently my speedometer has been acting wacko...and continues to do so. Two to five minutes into a trip it will slowly increase or decrease in mph's and randomly stop (or continue) as it pleases regardless of how fast or slow I am traveling. Several mechanics checked it and test drove it and no one could figure it out. The devices they used to check the speedometer indicated it was functioning properly.
View 4 RepliesI turned on the climate control this morning when I started the car and tried to change the temperature, then for some reason until the car was warmed up the climate control went to lo and seemed like it was locked there.
Once I the car got warmed up, the climate control worked was normal. It seemed like the increase/decrease controls were locked.
2004 Prius and I have lots of static in the AM radio. Some days it is worse than others mostly I am unable to listen to it. If the car is in accessory, the static in the AM radio is not there. As I drive the car the static will increase or decrease based on the proximity to the overhead wires. There are days however where the static will be hardly noticeable. I've owned the car since 2006 and have always had this issue.

View 63 RepliesI currently have I45, 2 years old, that recently when driving at 100km approx 1.5to2K revs, loud noise like tyre has blown but was is happening the motor goes up to 3k revs, I have to pull over & stop the motor & restart otherwise if I keep driving the motor is revving at 3k revs unable to increase speed.
View 1 RepliesYesterday when getting into my vehicle after being out of it about 20 minutes and everything working fine, my stereo was on the fritz. A CD was playing but on my display it was giving me a message about an error with the bluelink and needing to hit the bluelink button. I did so which did nothing. I tried to turn off the stereo and it would not turn off. The volume controls and all other controls were inoperational. I could not eject the CD either.
So I drove to my destination and turned my car off and on again. This time my stereo was black. Nothing would work to turn on the stereo at all. I tried multiple times to see if the stereo worked and it did not last night or this morning.
So the other day I was waiting on my friend outside her job, but the car was on off, I got bored and pushed the Push Start button twice without holding the brake so only the stereo will turn on. However when I turned on the car again to driver off the stereo shut off and wouldn't turn on. It's been three days now and I was hoping it was some sort of glitch that would fix itself out, but it hasn't. Its a 2011 Sonata without the Navigation, Just the simple bluetooth fm/am radio with CD.

View 15 RepliesI have a 2012 GLS and on the way to work this evening I noticed that the volume/channel buttons on the steering wheel for the radio will not work. The mode button still works properly, so I attempted to change the radio station on the radio itself to no avail. No buttons other than the volume work on the radio as well.
View 11 RepliesMy Gen 1 stereo volume doesn't work at all anymore. Everything on the display is normal, the cassette player isn't making weird noises, but no radio or ipod hookup volume whatsoever. I'm worried someone who was testdriving it last week might have been pressing random buttons, but we've tried pressing most of 'em and still no dice. But also, it has been very humid this past week. Is this what happens when speakers die? Anything I should try?
View 8 RepliesI just replaced the vacuum motor that opens and closes the Max Air door as it's diaphram was ruptured. Now it is working correctly, however when I go from normal to max the volume of air coming out the vents doesn't seem to increase. The door hasn't been working for about a year and I didn't realize why. Should the volume increase going to Max or just the air get colder from recirculating? In my Dodge the volume increases consderably. Could there be trash (leaves, things dropped through the defrost vents) partly blocking the air through the evaporator? How do I access to check and clean out? Remove the blower motor?
