Had a really cold day here, got on the highway and from around 80-100 km/hr the car had bad vibration, would be unbearable for any extended time. I got up to about 120 and the vibration lessened.
View 5 RepliesSo I have a weird situation. My Sonata GS with the 2.4 engine has trouble starting ONLY during cold weather (-2 or colder) if it's been sitting for a few hours. If the weather is warm, then it starts fine most of the time. The car tries to 'fire' for about 45 seconds before it does; and 'fires' with no hesitation at that point. The car runs fine, no hesitation or rough idle. I've cleaned the intake system to make sure it's not clogged or dirty, replaced the air filter, cleaned the MAP and throttle body. My battery died a few weeks ago, so I've even replaced that. What this could be? Everything I've researched or looked into would throw a code, or have symptoms while driving...yet it runs fine once it's started, and no codes/lights are showing. Don't want to just start swapping parts hoping to find the problem...
View 14 RepliesMy idle seems to always be somewhat rough whenever I put the heat on in cold weather. While in drive I'll come to a red light, heat will be on and I'll stop. The. my idle will bounce down then back up. I shut heat off to test and it only does it while heats on.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2011 Avalon Limited and live in the Dallas area. Are used the auto setting on my thermostat all the time. I noticed that in cold weather, the AC almost always switches on as part of the thermostat function. I don't understand that. For example, its 30 degrees outside, & I select Auto and set the temperature to 70 degrees, and the green AC light goes on. I want to avoid using more gas than I need to use, so I'm wondering why this might be so. It's a simple matter to simply press the AC and turn it off, but I'm wondering why it goes on in the first place.
View 1 RepliesOk so I replaced my upper strut mount and my struts in the front along with the shocks in the rear.......... the squeak is still present when i go over a rougher bump and it is cold ..................SO i went on hma service and saw this...................
Symptom "Squeak or grunt-noise from the front suspension, occurs more in cold ambient temperatures-more noticeable over rough roads or when turning"
Suspect Area "Front stabilizer bar"
Remedy "Under these conditions, the noise is acceptable."
Wow so not acceptable i am going to try and lubricate this piece... Will report back

Noise question. I have a 2011 super duty f250 xlt, and my question is I have a grinding noise that does not sound metallic and only shows up when its below freezing, only in drive and for about 50 yards.
View 6 RepliesSaturday I picked up a set of OEM staggered 18 inch genny wheels and tires. rims are perfect, no curb rash. Tires all have about 8/32 tread on them. I mounted them myself and I had a horrible vibration that started around 50mph. Sunday I took them down to one of the only local shops that are open and have the TPMS swapped and balanced. Vibration is still there. Monday I take it to America's Tires to have the wheels and tires checked for dents, out of round,etc. and balanced again. One of the rears (245/45/18 had water in it. They removed the water and remounted and balanced it. Vibration still there. It's definitely better but still shaking at around 55-60mph. Today I went to another shop that had the Hunter road force balancer. Got all four done and alignment. Boom...another wheel had water in it. this time it was one of the fronts (225/45/18). Still vibrating.
View 8 RepliesMy gf just bought a 2011 sonata limited and so far we love it (only 2 days old but you know). So yesterday I was pulling out of the driveway and had to cut the wheel all the way right to clear my neighbors truck and the curb. Just as i got moving forward I heard and felt 2 loud clicks which sounded like a bad axle but just deeper.
I hope nothing broke already, drove for 10 miles perfectly fine with no pulling or anymore clicking. Then I got onto the highway and felt a pretty significant vibration coming through the dead pedal but only above 70-75 mph. It happens all the time now (at that speed) and I will be taking it to the dealer but I like to research before I go so I can prepare for their onslaught of BS.
My 2011 Camry is giving very weird sound with vibration on every morning or whenever the engine is cold. I checked with 2 Toyota car dealers, they are saying, could not replicate this issue and car is normal. This is certified car bought 4 months before.
Camry vibrates only when it is Drive/Reverse gear. car is smooth when Neutral and parking.
When engine cold RPM stands in 1000+ (Vibrating)
When engine become normal RPM stays 600-700 (No vibration).
I just bought this car, selling this car now will be big loss.....
I get a pretty severe vibration from the front suspension when braking. Here's what's been replaced:
Rotors
Brake pads
Steering coupler
Where do I go next? LCA/ball joints? Tie rods?
I have a 2013 Sonata gls, 5200 KM on it. I was recently experiencing an issue where at highway speeds my car would not go straight. I took to dealer, and they saw that 3/4 tires were not within the specs of alignment. Any way The dealer put the car in alignment however, now It seems like I have steering vibration in my steering wheel. It appears to go away when I put foot on brake but when I let go and at an speed I can feel a lot more vibration in my steering wheel now then before. It doesn't actually shake the steering wheel but its now annoying to feel when holding the wheel. I can also feel vibration in the seat as well.
View 10 RepliesI recently drove to work last week and the downtown roads suck, ever since noticing this it seems like my brand new sonata is very bumpy. Its like now I am noticing all the bumps. Tires seem to make a lot of noise too.
Also when accelerating it seems like i can feel it in my foot on the gas pedal. I would say like vibration but not a vibration if that makes sense.
Any sonata owners notice when they have their foot on the gas pedal its not so smooth. Can you feel the engine working through the pedal?
This is a brand new car with less than 2,000 km on it.
I got my d2 coils installed yesterday, everything looks good, however when I'm in throttle it shakes a little. When I'm coasting its fine.
I'm getting an alignment tomorrow they said it could fix the problem a little but the cause of the vibrations is because the angle the axels are in now. Thinking of raising it a little if after the alignment it's still there.
2011 2.4 L Sonata. So when I drive the car onto pot holes and rough roads I get some vibration sound from inside the steering. If I hold the steering tight while driving into a pot hole I don't hear the sound. Steering is tight but within the steering there is a part that is vibrating badly and makes cheap sound.
View 3 Replies2011, 2.0T, with 58,000 miles, and everything's perfect, nothing but synthetic oil changes and premium fuel. But, Over the last month, I get a new vibration when I come to a complete stop, and stay in Drive. Once I shift to Neutral, it naturally goes away, and it shifts normally. I've never done anything to the Tranny.
The car has always been like this but this new vibration is bad, I can feel the pulsing in the brake pedal and you can hear it in the engine. What's making me take it to the Dealer is when my wife drove it, she said she noticed it, I said it must be bad.

View 3 RepliesHeard wicked vibration from front of car (almost like I hit something and it jammed under car) pulled over to realize sound was still there when stopped. after a few seconds realized it was the fan running (on setting 4) now a couple days later sound isn't as bad but still vibrating, doesn't matter where it's blowing (feet, chest, windshield). I bought sonata 20 months ago and has just under 23000 miles...
View 8 RepliesMy daughter just bought a 2106 Hyundai Sonata Sport loaded. Within one week of driving it she noticed a lot of front end vibration at highway speeds. She took it back to the dealer. They test drove it and figured it needed an alignment. It didn't fix the problem. Hyundai corp was notified and the gave permission to put on 4 new tires in case there was damage from the original wheels sitting. Still has not corrected the problem. They have one more try before I demand lemon law and require a new car replacement.

Not a major issue. Tried pushing car into neutral to see if it made a difference... Nothing.
I have 2011 Sonata Limited 2.4L I have a rattle that seems to come from the engine compartment near/thru the dash/driver area. I am getting pretty good at replicating the issue. When I accelerate or decelerate thru 1500 - 1700 rpm the rattel/vibration happens. If I can continue to keep the same rpm level the rattle remains. It tends to be even more frequent when the AC is on. I have had the dealer look at 2-3 times and they cannot seem to remedy the problem.
View 2 RepliesCrossing 90K soon and noticing some vibration in the steering wheel. Have also been trying (in vain) to locate a clicking suspension noise in the rear.
Decided to pop the Red Sled up on stands and tighten stuff up. Few loose nuts in the rear (sway bar end links and the trailing arm bolts) so retorqued those. However, noise has only decreased, not gone away.
In the front, things are even worse. Tie rods are due for replacement (boots broken and right one had water in it) as well as ball joints. But the worse part is that the steering rack is whining when turning in either direction.
Thinking of tackling the front end work aside from alignment. Doesn't look hard so I do not fear that. But the steering rack is another beast entirely.
