It seems my sunroof will open all the way and close but it will NOT raise up in the back those couple of inches it used. it just doesn't respond to the pressure on the switch....
View 7 RepliesI have a Canadian 2011 Sonata 2.0T with sunroof. I am thinking of installing a dashcam. The power for the dashcam is supposed to be USB 5V.
I was thinking of tapping into the power for the sunroof. This way I will get power while ignition is on. I do have a 12V-5V DC converter on order.
How to get to the wiring harness? And how to tap into it? Another option could be the dome light, but I am not sure whether that power is on all the time or not. I only need power while ignition is on.
Yesterday, while traveling 65 MPH in 32 degree (Fahrenheit) dry weather, my closed and locked sunroof exploded. It sounded as though as shotgun had been fired. Suddenly the sound of flying glass and gushing wind. I have a 2011 Sonata Limited with factory sunroof. Upon examination after pulling off the middle lane of the interstate, I saw that what was left of the glass was pointing upward, confirming that the explosion came outward, not inward as if something had hit it. There were no vehicles immediately in front of me or in back of me, and nothing in the roadway immediately prior to the explosion.
I have since read on the internet that this has happened to several 2011 Sonata owners and hundreds of Hyundai Veloster owners with sunroofs. After many cases on the Veloster, a recall was made on the 2012 model Veloster, but nothing yet on the Sonata. I have contacted Hyundai who advised me to take it to the dealer to see if the glass was defective. All of the other cases spoke of the same type of explosion where it sounds as though a shotgun has been fired in your car. Any other member here experience the same and what has the dealer done for you. My car has 80,000 miles. Going to the dealer Monday with a hole in the roof.
2011 2.4L Limited leaking at the sunroof area? On a rainy day after my 60,000 mile service I noticed my driver side floor mat was wet. Took it out, vacuumed the water out and asked the dealer to check it at one of my other recall visits. They could not find the source so I took the car to a body shop who confirmed the source of the leak as being in the sunroof area, but are not able to find a solution.
View 8 Replies2012 Sonata Limited... I purchased my car in November of 2011. It had allegedly been driven for 5500 miles by a salesperson at the dealership.
Within a week, both my husband and I noticed that the cruise control would simply not go on every once in a while. The dealer claims to have taken apart the cruise control, looking for problems, but says there are no problems; that I should come back in after docummenting problems more specifically.
I also continue to hear the creaking noise in the sun-roof area. Allegedly, the Body Shop adjusted the headliner clips, but I still hear creaking.
I am most concerned with the cruise control, but annoyed at the dealer for keeping my car for over two weeks and having achieved nothing. I like the car, but this kind of a start with it makes me want to sell it and go get either another Honda or a used Volvo.
OK, I thought I saw where people were lubing certain areas for a clunk but it was a squeek.
Seems like over rougher terrain my 11 sunroof tends to clunk. However the painful part is I can't reproduce it on demand, clunk or a rattle. Its deeper in tone for sure and not a squeak.
Creak coming from their overhead courtesy light/ sunroof control area? Can't figure where it's coming from.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 5.0 and every time I change the oil filter the oil runs out the front and back of the cross member. That welded on oil catch plate doesn't work. The suspension is stock and I'm wondering if I lift the rear of the truck with a floor jack will it get the oil from the filter all run out the front of that catch plate?
View 9 Replies2010 Explorer XLT. The left rear power window lowers, but does not raise back up with the driver's master control switch (the 4 switch control on the driver's door). It does, however, lower and raise fine with the single switch on it's own rear door. Thinking it was a bad master switch module on the driver's door, I replaced it and the same thing still happens - works fine with it's own single switch but will only lower and not raise with the driver's door switch. All the other windows work fine. This has me totally stumped.
View 11 RepliesI bought my first vehicle last October, a '99 F-250 with a 6.8 V10. I later found out (AFTER hauling a big load of rocks in a dump trailer) that one of the bottom leaf springs was broken. So this winter I have been thinking on what I want to do about it when it warms up. This is pretty much on top of the "to do" list for my truck. I did make a thread about putting 1 ton springs under it, but I think I'll just stick with the regular 3/4 ton springs. So now this is where I have another question, and I think this pic will tell some of it:
Now I'm not sure if those rear springs are stock, but that rear end is way the heck up there! The truck itself is not level, the front looks to be correct height, but not the back. A buddy at school and I were talking about a leveling kit for the front. But the more I look at it, I think the rear end should come down. I don't want to get bigger tires, as I just put brand new Transforce AT's on the back and plan to put new ones on the front in the near future.
Another question of mine is, would this have been a truck ordered just for pulling a camper? It has holes for a fifth wheel hitch in the bed, the rear end sits high, and it didn't come with a tow package. The PO told me that he put the receiver hitch on it. I'm fixing up stuff on it one thing at a time. Springs just happen to be next on the list.
My 2013 Sonata came with a sunroof wind deflector. I'm somewhat hesitant to install it, since it might increase wind noise. It also might affect MPG. I like the looks of it, at least the pics I've seen of it.
View 12 RepliesSo today, when I rolled down my passenger window (2007 Sonata GLS) to talk to someone, I heard a popping sound and the window refused to roll back up. I got the car home and started tearing into the door panel (okay, not literally). By viewing different threads here, I have the door panel off, outside handle is off, all screws loosened (including the 3 for the door latch) and am trying to get the inner sheet metal panel off.
From everything I've read, you need to roll the window up the whole way in order to get the inner panel off; however I cannot get the window up the whole way! By lifting up on it, I have it about 2/3 raised, but it won't budge any more. I have been able to see that the window cable is broken (which explains why the window won't raise), but am at a loss on how to proceed. I'm leery of trying to force the window up any more. I'm tempted to try to pry the inner panel back enough to get the two bolts holding the window loose, but don't want to force *that* either.
So, how to get the window all the way up? And/or the inner door panel off?
I've had this ongoing issue where unless I first shift car from park to neutral and back again, the push button start will not work. After I do this car starts up fine every time.
View 1 RepliesMy 2011 sonata here recently start acting up. When driving at night, the headlight with the dash will blink like it jumping back and forth. The the switch is set on auto. Almost as if the sun was coming out then they switch to night. It will do this several times.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 limited last night while driving when I would turn my turn signal on the headlights would flash off and back on. I tried it a few more times and it did this quite a bit. I do have HID lights which I have had for about a year now but never had an issue before.
View 8 RepliesWhen driving my 2013 Sonata with the rear windows open the deck below the back window starts vibrating horribly. You can actually see it moving up and down. If I also have the stereo on the vibrations distort the sound something awful. Close the window and the vibration goes away. Is it a defect, and is there a quick fix? Only problem with the car so far.

While coming back from mall, while driving lowered both rear windows to maximum...as I was driving @ 50 MPH..Extremely annoying sound started coming from back windows area....it was unbearable annoying...so closed the windows and sound was gone.
Checked oil and it was full. What is this UFO sound with rear windows down.
Having suspensions creaking sounds coming from the back left/right side? A friend of mine has the sonata too but is having the sound coming from the left, mine is on the right.

View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Azera with a sunroof problem. Went to open the sunroof and found out it would not slide back, it would only lift up in the back. Went to close it and it would lower some, but not all the way. It goes to lower but then there is a click in the mechanism and it won't close completely. Tried the manual close to no avail.
