I have a '11 GLS sonata, 56000kms ... Over the last few weeks I've noticed a 'vibration' rubbing sound while I'm making a right turn at med speeds or higher. I thought I heard it on the left side but not sure. Only notice the sound while turning.

Mine starts developing clicking noise under tight turns about 10k miles ago but the boots are absolutely fine. I just hope to buy some time on it before I can confidently replace those axles myself as I only have limited cash.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. There is a slight rubbing noise when I make wide turns and I suspect it is the wheel bearings. How much should it cost to replace these, and how thin is the ice I am skating on if I put it off?
View 4 RepliesMy 04 gli makes a rubbing noise when accelerating thru hard left turns.. but weird enough i can take the same turn at the same speed in neutral and have no noise at all. I changed both front wheel bearings and cant seem to find the answer. I brought it to vw and they checked the whole suspension struts springs cv's tie rods ect. and they all checked out good they said. the car used to have a exhaust and i just recently put it back to stock, could the exhaust make the noise perhaps?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata with the NAV package, and this morning when I started the car I found that I have no sound coming from my speakers. Stereo powers up just fine, all controls including nav and bluetooth seem to be functioning perfectly, and yet I am getting no audio.
View 63 RepliesOn my 2013 GLS i went to adjust the column back to me as my girlfriend drove on saturday night (octoberfest ) and as i pulled it back out the car shut off. i pushed it back in a little and the car started fine and has until i tested the issue again this morning when i got to work. i moved it about half way out and the radio shutoff. moved it a little more and the whole car shut off. it will not start until i push it back in some.
I am thinking that a cannon plug or something is either too short or routed wrong or something to that effect as i have the ignition on the column instead of the push button.
So...the trunk light will never turn off if the trunk is open? Just wondering, since a bottle of Shiner Bock broke in my trunk and i want to air it out. Yeah i don't feel like removing the bulb, i just wanted to know if there is a time limit or disable feature somehow.
View 7 RepliesMy wife couldnt get her 2011 SE to start this morning. It engine turns over strong but it wouldn't start. Brake lights worked. Brake pedal very hard. Tried several times but would not start. Finally I jumped battery just in case and it cranked. Don't know if this was coincidence or not. Car is two years old and only 30k. I checked for interior lights being left on or other things that might drain the battery.
Could a low Fob battery cause this? Brake switch? No codes thrown. Taking in to dealer but wanted to rule out a simple fix.
My wife has a 2013 Santa Fe. When she turns off her vehicle, her radio stays on until you open the door. To be honest that is how it works in most cars I have been in.
However it seems like in the Sonata 2013 it just turns off all together. Is this normal? Is there a feature to make it stay on until the door is opened?
Whenever I start my 2011 Sonata Turbo after it has been resting overnight, the brake warning light comes on and stays on. It's not immediate?it usually takes five to ten seconds, and whether the emergency brake was on when I started has no effect. Once it goes on, it cannot be shut off without shutting off the car and restarting?at which time it acts normally for the rest of the day. The braking system is fine.

I noticed ever since I first drove it, when the tires are cold, and I maneuver in slow speeds, I hear a sort of rubbing noise over pavement. It almost sounds like when you drive a car slowly on an inside floor, like on a dealer's showroom - is it normal for them to do this? PSI is at the recommended levels, nothing seems to be rubbing. I think when the tires warm up the noise goes away, and especially at higher speeds it is not there.
View 4 RepliesThe light flashes then turns solid. I checked the pressure to find 32lbs in the tires. I pumped them back up to 36 front, 35 rear (per suggestions here to minimize steering wander).
The light remains on. Knowing the pressures were fine, I have driven it several days to see if the light goes out on its own. No dice.
While driving last week, the wife asked about this and we pressed the Blue Link connect button. The service rep who responded said she saw no pressure warning on her remote panel.
Over the weekend, I tried inflating the tires to 40psi, thinking that the higher pressure would reset the light and then I could lower the pressure to normal levels. That did not work, either.
So yesterday, I called the dealer and the service rep said the system warns of BOTH under pressure and over pressure. She suggested setting the tires to the "sweet spot," at 35psi. I did this, and the light remains on.
I guess I will need drive to the dealer and let them piddle with it. I like the system, or at least the idea. But I hope I don't have to drive to the dealer after every attempt to maintain the tires.
I discovered a few weeks ago that my 2009 Sonata 2.4L SE had a sticking caliper on the rear driver's side. It had gone bad on the passenger side as well, but not as bad. I had the calipers, rotors, and pads replaced on the rear yesterday. As soon as that was done, I started hearing a noise when braking that sounded like a rubbing noise, almost like a long "sigh." It happened at any speed as long as I pressed the pedal far enough to bring the vehicle almost to a complete stop.
I originally thought the calipers weren't the right fit, but the parts I confirmed the parts I ordered (Nastra) through Rock Auto were correct. I've driven about 80 miles since then and nothing has changed. I didn't see anything wrong when I took the tire off, but I don't think this sound is normal. Taking it in to the mechanic tomorrow. Could it be a wheel bearing? Wrong parts?
We have a 2013 Sonata. For a while now we have been hearing a thump-thump-thump from the back of the car. The thumping starts as soon as the car moves and it appears to come from the driver side.
We get the thumping in our parking lot, on local roads, on the highway - everywhere. The frequency of the thumping speeds up and slows down in lock step with road speed. The thumping doesn't get appreciably louder when we go around turns or when we apply the brakes. We feel no vibration through the brake pedal, or through the steering wheel, or through the seats or any other part of the car.
Six months ago we left the car with the dealer after taking the service advisor for a ride. He heard the noise but when examining the car they could not locate the source of it. They said the wheel bearings looked good, the tires looked good, the brake rotors looked good.
After that we replaced the old tires with new ones and had them installed and had the wheels and tires balanced at a shop that is known for doing this well. (They take care of a lot of SCCA weekend racers.) After all of that the thumping was still there, same as before.
Now the thumping is getting worse. We are planning to take the car back to the dealer to have them go over it again and start replacing parts to see if we can locate the source of the noise that way.
I have a 2011 F-150 4x4 5.0 with about 45k miles. When I drive at slow speeds (ex. 5mph) and turn the wheels left or right there is a rubbing/growling sound coming from sounds like the front end. It does it either in forward or reverse. It's not a squeaking, clicking, or metal on metal sound. It does not do it when the wheels are straight. I rolled underneath and couldn't see anything that stuck out right away. What could be causing this?

While making the turn i noticed a light rubbing scrapping noise when i had my wheel turned to the passenger side. I got out made sure nothing was suck to the wheel or under the car. Heard it all the way home, got up this morning checked car again nothing seemed wrong drove to school noise was gone.
View 10 RepliesI ask this because when on the hwy (60-70mph) you can feel some vibration in your hands. I can let the steering wheel go and it won't move a bit but when hands placed on it you can definitely feel the road, including bumps, and regardless of road conditions. Tires where balanced at 7500mi but it still happens. Regardless of temperature or PSI in the tire.
I thought we had electric/electronic steering and no hydraulics? Maybe unrelated but, when turning in my driveway, very slow, I can hear a slight clicking (maybe rubbing) noise coming from the steering wheel column. Everything else has to be silent to be able to hear it.
2011 ISF with clunking and rubbing noises coming from the passenger front side, especially when making right turns or hitting a pot hole. It really does sound like something is loose and bouncing around when hitting a pot hole, and its the same noise when taking a right turn at any speed. It doesn't make any sense!!! Could be engine bay or could be in the tire well, unsure. We took the tire off today and found nothing wrong and no rubbing points around. We checked the control arm, strut, sway bar, backing plate, wheel bearing for looseness. Cant find anything wrong at all...
View 12 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata 3.3 V6 GLS (CDN model) with 102k km (63K miles). Recently, I am noticing a rotational metal-like grinding noise from the front left wheel / engine area when engaging in hard right and left turns - usually a long looped highway on-ramp or sharp 90 degree turns. The interesting thing is this only happens when I am accelerating through the turns - when I left off the gas and cruise I don't hear it anymore.
On the side, I am also getting a single clunk noise when shifting from Park to Drive and vice versa from the same area (front left wheel) - not sure if this is related (i.e. if this is all related to a failing CV joint or wheel bearing).
I have a 20th with 106k on it and I notice mostly my right front rubbing on hard turns. Suspension is totally stock other than a 28mm rear sway. Is it possible that's causing it or is my suspension just getting old? No spacer on the fronts.

Starting to think maybe a bad cv joint. Is their a way to check if a cv joint is bad? How hard would it be to replace a cv joint and shaft?
