I've noticed that when I've driven, park the car in the garage, turn off the engine, trans in park, a loud popping sound coming from the transmission (?) It sounds as if the car is clicking, popping into gear, although it's in Park. The garage is level and the car is not being moved in any kind of way. I sometimes sit in the car to finish a song or a phone call and I noticed this yesterday.
View 46 RepliesWhile driving our car I heard a loud popping sound and had to call roadside assistance. I was informed that the frame had cracked which probably caused the axle to drop. The car is part of a class action suit for corrosion of the frame. Customer service says that they will cover any damages to the car as a result of problems with the frame. If the local Hyundai asks for payment, Should I have the car fixed and submit the bill to the main office for reimbursement?
View 2 RepliesI've got my 2013 sonata and have noticed over the past couple weeks that after the car has sat for a while and I shift out of park that it makes a thunk/shifting sound that's coming from right below the car. I think it's coming from the gear shaft but I'm not a car expert so I can't be sure, it's more prevalent when I shift into reverse. What it could be? The car is still completely under warranty so I'm fine with making it the dealer's problem.
View 6 RepliesJust replaced the front struts last week and the upper control arms this morning. After putting everything back together I drove her around the block and noticed a horrible popping and squeaking like something was loose. I quickly limped her home and double checked that everything went back on properly and was tight. Car is the V6 with eibach's and about 103,000 miles I have drain and filled the tranny every 30-40k.
What this sound might be? It goes away once I am above about 10-15 mph and sounds like it is coming from the center underside of the car. I will also try to get a video of the sound while I am driving.

I have an '04 Suzuki Aerio, and there is a loud popping or knocking sound coming from the front of the car when I drive it. I don't seem to hear it when the car is inert (i.e. idling or traveling in a straight at a constant speed). I hear it intermittently when I accelerate/decelerate or turn. I hear it in drive and reverse. The strange thing is that it seems to go away completely when it is raining, and then come back when it stops raining and things dry out. It has been happening for a month or two. I think it has been gradually getting a bit louder. What could cause this?
View 6 RepliesI have an issue with the transmission not allowing me to shift from Park if I drive for couples of minutes unless I re-start the car. Also, if I drive for couples of minutes while I'm putting the cruise control on Standby mode or ON, it will shut off by itself along with the light for the economy driving mode.And again if I re-start the car everything will work.

My car is GLS 2011 and has 85,000 miles.
My 2011 2.0t has developed an odd ticking sound from the engine bay that is audible when idling. I haven't been able to pinpoint the source of the sound because once I drop the vehicle in Neutral it goes away although sometimes I do hear random ticks when I do this. The ticking sound is intermittent and sometimes I hear nothing.
In the video at 11 seconds the ticking starts. At 18 seconds it ends as I drop the car in neutral. What this sound could be? I'm going to try to hit the handbrake and check myself or have someone in the drivers seat while I go check but have yet to truly pinpoint the source of the noise.

I took my car in to get this checked out, but they say they can't hear it.
Sometimes when I turn my car on right after I turn it on, there's a loud humming sound like a compressor or something is kicking on and it's not fully engaging. And it only makes the sound for maybe 3-5 secs. Sometimes it won't happen when I turn the car on, but when I'm driving and I let off the gas and go to touch the brakes, it'll start.
The best I can describe it is a 'hum'...but it's loud, and I can feel it as if it's near the gas pedal right behind the firewall.
Dealer thought maybe it was the ABS switch testing itself..but they could never reproduce....I got in after they replaced my rims and checked it...and it did it 4 times when I started it, then turned it off. He came out to check, and it was almost as if you couldnt hear it outside of the car.
So, what the sound might be...I can't reproduce it anytime I'm there. Figures...... but I hear it almost daily. He put some foam tape on the firewall behind the gas lines saying the 'pulsing' from them might be doing it...but it did it again this morning.
2001 hyundai sonata has a loud squeaking sound when you start the car. i had just bought it so i'm not sure what problems it has but it didn't have any engine oil when i checked it and now when you drive it it seems to be missing not getting speed.
View 7 RepliesIn my 2014 Sonato Turbo model, I notice the sound of a vent opening and closing while driving. This is noticed when starting to drive or if the car has been placed in park while idling. My wife drives this car primarily so, I really can't tell when it started or if it has always done it. I have wondered if it has something to do with keeping fumes out of the car maybe. One thing I have noticed though is that it sometimes seems to also make the noise if you hit a bump.
View 3 RepliesI own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with ~40,000 miles (certified pre-owned). I heard a metallic pop sound while driving but did not see anything on the road or in the rear view mirror. Then I got on a highway and couple of minutes later there was no response from the engine (i could feel the car decelerating). Then the engine started responding again. A couple minutes later, again there was reduced response but this time I got a bunch of lights (oil pressure, abs and a few others). I pulled over and tuned off the car. by this time only the oil pressure light was on.
I checked the oil which was near empty. I walked to a nearby gas station and bought oil and filled 2 quarts. Then I noticed that all oil was draining right through in a steady stream.
I had the car towed to a nearby Hyundai dealer. The dealer diagnosis was that there is no drain plug which may be because the last place the oil was changed (around 2-3 months back) did not install the plug properly. He also said that the engine is ruined and will have to be replace and asked me to contact my insurance company.
The last oil change was also done at a Hyundai dealer (a different one than the one that provided diagnosis). I checked my driveway and there are some oil stains, I haven't driven the car much recently and have recently moved into this place so am not sure if these are new or old. What are my options. I don't have the the thousands required for a new engine.
I got my coilovers installed, love em....but now I have a clunking sound. Oddly enough it happens when I'm on flat pavement...not when I'm going over bumps.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2013 Santa Fe, 2.2 Diesel AWD and have recently experienced this popping sound. The sound is normally noticed within seconds of switch off the engine and is loud enough to make people jump with surprise. When I originally complained I was told this was normal ... nonsense I said as having owned vehicles from various manufacturers(Nissan, SAAB, Renault, VW, Chrysler, Mazda, Lexus) over the last 25year I've never experienced anything like this. Car is back in for a 90K klm service and repeated my complaint - lets see what happens. To me this is coming from the catalytic converter and when I look at the box underneath the car it has numerous bump/dents on it yet has never been offroad.

View 17 RepliesI have been experiencing loud popping and static/feedback sound from my front left speaker or tweeter. I replaced the jbl speaker with used jbl speaker. But it seems that my tweeter is done for as well. No sound comes out of it. Is it best just to replace it with a new jbl tweeter or are there better options that fit with not a lot of work.

View 33 RepliesI'm experiencing a really annoying issue with my 2007 3.3L sonata. Whenever I am making a right turn (with the breaks applied), I hear a knocking or "popping" sound from the driver's side front end. It's not a single "pop", but multiple "pop"..."pop"..."pop". The noise does not occur when making a right turn without the breaks applied, not does it happen when making left turns. Also, during a right turn, if I release the breaks, the sound will immediately stop. The car only has 64k KM (about 40k miles).

View 29 RepliesThe past couple of weeks I have noticed my car is hard to shift out of park when I first start it after a few hours. After I get it out of park it is good until the next time I let it cool off for a little bit. It will sometime thump too when I shift to reverse no matter if im on an incline to parked flat. I have changed the transmission fluid twice and I have 60k on it so I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Also, is this something that could cause serious damage because if it isn't I don't really care about it but if it does I would like to fix it.
View 4 RepliesMy GMC Envoy is making a loud reviving sound upon start up and while driving getting louder the faster I go. It also makes this noise while in park. I have Manuel transmission however it almost sounds like the car is in need of shifting to another gear... I'm hoping it's not an expensive problem!! There is no engine light coming on alerting me to a problem. It's a very loud revving almost whining sound.
