The other day was putting gas and when I replaced cap and tighten it, it no longer clicked. Is this a sign that I need a new one? So far the check engine light hasn't come on at all since this has happened.
View 9 RepliesCharged battery, tried adding my 100amp charger "jump" mode on when starting, took off ground and ground down to metal where it attaches, cleaned all the contacts, tried a known good battery. Yet the car still clicked when trying to start it. I removed the starter and wired it with appropriate gauged wire, and had someone turn the key while I held the starter and it operated as it should, no clicking. What should I try next before I re-install the starter, so I don't end up having the system clicking like there is a dead battery again? Because I certainly didn't fix anything.

I live in southern Ontario, in Canada and the weather is starting to drop here in the mornings and nights.
The mornings are not 0-3 degrees Celsius and at night a little bit colder.
I have notice that when I start my car in the morning it seems like the engine takes a little big longer to start. It takes no longer than 2 seconds to actually start, it just sounds like its struggling a bit more.
I notice once i drive the car for a bit, park and then start the car again it seems like it fires up quicker and without ease.
Is this due to the drop in weather? or something else at play here.
Also it seems like in the mornings when the car has been sitting for like 9 hours, after it starts the engine sounds louder than usual.
When I turn my Cruise Control "On" it will light up green on my dashboard, However when I press the "set" button to set the speed nothing happens. It was working fine a few weeks ago. Could it be a fuse? If so what fuse? How I can fix this? 2011 Sonata
View 17 RepliesI have a 2010 hyundai sonata -- I purchased brand new in May2010. I've recently been having an issue with filling up my gas tank -- the nozzle clicks off too early! I live in NJ (so i'm not pumping my own gas), so I usually tell the attendant that it should take roughly $40 worth, and they'll restart it.. but sometimes it clicks off multiple times! It's becoming more and more frequent, also! And, yesterday, I got to the point where I just told the attendant to forget it, because it clicked off 3 times in a row! But, when I started my car, I only had between half and 3/4 of a tank??
I've filled up at multiple stations and have had the same problem consistently. I commute over 100 miles a day to/from work, so I'm filling my tank every 4 or 5 days.. the car currently has a little over 20k miles on it.
I have a 09 sonata NF. The gas pump continually clicks off while filling the tank. I saw this issue discussed here before but I cannot find it. Has to do with a vapor canister and valve?
View 1 RepliesThe speedometer on my 2002 Hyundai Sonata usually works, until it doesn't. This happens most often on longer trips. The speedometer starts fluctuating between 0 and my current speed and eventually gives up entirely. I've asked several dealers what the problem might be, but they've all said they can't find anything (of course it's always working when I take it in.) When the speedometer is not working, neither is the odometer or the cruise control. What could it be?
View 1 RepliesI recently bought this CPO Azera that came with 100k mile powertrain warranty. I noticed startup rattle that occurs when the car has been sitting for 30mins and longer. It usually lasts 2 - 4 seconds.
I wanted to take it to the dealership but I want to make sure that I approach them the right way and won't be sent home with "this is normal behavior" as it happened in many cases when I was researching it. I suspect chain tensioner but I might be wrong.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4 Cylinder with roughly 100k miles. The car runs great, shifts great, drives smooth. The only issue I have is starting the vehicle. When turning the key the car cranks sometimes longer than normal and sputters a bit before fully starting. I feel somewhat of a jolt like the engine is firing but its not what I call smooth. The other day it cranked longer than normal started for 1/2 a second then died and I had to turn the key again to start. I have already replaced the spark plugs and air filters. A while back we had the fuel filter/pump replaced but I'm not sure what else to do considering that the car runs fine otherwise. I read something about an EGR valve and maybe it's a vacuum hose?...
View 8 RepliesI screwed up installing LED taillight assemblies in my 2011 SuperDuty and pinched a couple of wires against the body. The result of this (at least I think that this cause) is that my backup lights no longer work - neither the backup lights in the tail light assembly nor the reverse light power on the trailer plug. I have checked the fuses, etc. and nothing. I brought it to a local shop and they could not figure out the problem, either, but said that it was probably the "control module" that got fried when the wires got pinched. They said to take it to the dealer. The questions are, what "control module" might they be referring to, or what to check?

My A/C seems to take longer and longer to start cooling/ When it does start cooling it seems that is is actually colder than it has ever been (original owner) and the control is more sensitive to the touch when moved. Being a 4 cyl it's easy to detect when the compressor kicks in and it seems each time it is taking longer to do so. If I stop the motor, it goes thru the same cycle of time or longer before cooling (compressor kicking in) again. No codes, No unusual noises.
View 5 RepliesI just replaced my OEM battery with a duralast from autozone. The battery had 138,000 miles. Shortly after, the check engine light came on and code says P0106. Map Sensor. Seems like to much of coincidence that this happened. Have read that disconnecting battery cables for 3 hours may do the trick.
View 8 RepliesTHis is about the 5th or 6th time in the past year (2X in past 2 weeks) that the A/C will not come on. Two times took to Dealer & it worked just fine. Ir worked when I drove it, then parked it for 2 hours, and then it wouldn't work. Parked it, and then it worked fine again.
Dealer has no knowledge of this being an issue.
Similarly, my iPhone does not connect on an intermittent basis - again, always connects when at dealer.
Should I do an Oil change? I never noticed this before. I have 5897 miles on the oil now.
View 8 RepliesJust picked up a 2012 GLS two weeks ago. So far I like the car. Unfortunately, I do about 40 miles a day of traffic driving. I have noticed the car seems to downshift from possibly 4th to 3rd right around 35mph. This downshift is noticeable and the engine has to rev to match the change. It is not a high rev, just a noticeable engine braking. Is this normal? I dont feel like anything is wrong just seems like the computers are not sure when to downshift.
When the car comes to a complete stop with your foot on the brake, does the car lower its rpm by 100-200pms? Seems like this is a gas saving technique. I have noticed it when While at a light and I lift my foot slighty the car feels like either the brakes are grabbing or the rpms are to low.
Sometimes when I put my AC on it makes a hum. It starts soft, gets louder and louder then fades away.. It's not all the time, one of those hard to diagnose intermittent noises..

I am having one problem with my car though. Both of my key fobs work for a few minutes after the car is turned off. Then they will not unlock the car. When I hit unlock the lights come on inside, but it does not unlock the doors. The lights come on with the fob regardless of how long it has been since I started the car. If I unlock the car with my keys the car alarm goes off and the engine is immobilized. I can then get out of the car, lock it with the key and unlock it again and it works. I can also start the car if I unlock the door and wait a couple of minutes before I attempt to start the car.
After this the key fobs work again for about two minutes after the car is turned off. The key fob batteries are new and the car has a brand new battery. The dealer replaced the central locking mechanism thinking that was the problem. It did not resolve the issue.
My car is a 2011 Sonata GLS with nav/dimesion. I have 55K miles on it and still have warranty.
If the speedo shows me going 40MPH, my phone GPS and radar signs show me going 37-38MPH.
Is this something I should have the dealer correct or just roll with it? I've seen others post similar results, so wondering if ALL Sonatas do this?
OEM 18' wheels/tires.
I have 90K and the SRS light came on a few months ago. What could be causing it?
View 2 RepliesI bought my New Sonata in March 2012 and loved the Nav Bluetooth. I could say "call name" it would ask who and I would say a name from my contacts and it would connect no problem. One day a few months ago it just stopped working? I took it into the dealership and after 3 service members and the guy who sold my car to me couldn't get it to work they told me my Nav system needed to be replaced. I brought it back a few days later and left it for many hours. They called and said it was ready. I went to pick it up and they told me that it wasn't the Nav system that an "update" needed to happen? The service guy said that it should be a few weeks. Me knowing nothing about iPhones and Nav systems left confused. fast forward two months later it still isn't working! I also brought it in for an oil change a few weeks back and ask them if they have any update and they said no.
View 44 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS and my fog lights wont turn on with the HIDs installed but they turn on with my regular halogen bulbs? I installed HIDs on the low beam headlight and they work perfect with the computer warning and anti-flicker. when i installed the fog light HID kit on my fog lights, they just make a quick flicker for like 1 second then they turn off. I have switched ballast, reconnected wires, and thought of switching polarities. Haven't done that yet because power is reaching the bulb.
