Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Fog / Condensation On Windshield
Jan 7, 2016
I have noticed here lately that I seem to be getting fog/condensation on my windshield. It goes up about 4-5 inches and stops. Is there a seal that I can check?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata and has trouble with the windshield seal or if it is usually just sunroof issues.

So I noticed some pretty extreme fogginess and internal condensation on my windows the past few days (spring has sprung, but we have had some colder days in SE Pennsylvania). Then after taking a bag out of my passenger side floor I noticed it was soaking wet. Couldn't figure it out until I saw that my passenger side carpet was soaked.
It can't be a leak from the windshield or above because only the bottom part of the bag that was touching the floor was soaked.
We did have a pretty rainy day about 2 days ago, and I did use my AC for the first time in a while as well in the past few days so not sure if it's an AC tube problem or seal and drainage problem somehow.
I am not impressed with the headlight angle of the 2011 Sonata. There is a "black line" across my windshield where the low beams project and totally disappear. If you drive in the city, you would not notice it. In the rural areas- dark hilly and curvy roads, it definitely cuts into visibility. One can only see about 50 feet ahead. Last Friday night I hit a black tire on a black road as I did not see it in time. My 2005 Sonata did not have this problem.
View 2 RepliesMy car is at 63000 miles and the windshield washer just stopped working and wondering if this is covered by warranty? when i press the lever little bit of liquid squirts out and nothing and when i press the lever again all i hear is the motor spinning. Also if this is not covered by warranty how much do you think the dealer will charge to have this fixed?
View 11 RepliesWhen I am driving and the sun is hitting the top of the dashboard, I get a reflection of the dashboard in my windshield. I have the gray interior, so it isn't terribly distracting. However, it would be really nice to tone it down some. The interior of my new Sonata is nice and I don't want something tacky. I have done some looking at dash mats on the web but I don't know how well they fit, how well they work, and if they would pass my tackiness test.
View 36 RepliesOn both my front windshield as well as my rear window I see small shiny speckles in the glass when the sun is shining thru the glass particularly in early morning and later in the day when the sun angle is low. At first I thought it was tree sap but a thorough cleaning did nothing to improve it. So I used a claybar on the window thinking it may be some other type of contaminant and that did nothing either. The speckles are still there. I have not tried polishing the windshield and rear window.
View 8 RepliesNow that the weather has gotten very cold, I used the rear windshield defroster a couple of times this week. The smell that it emits is absolutely disgusting, I had to turn it off. The front defroster isn't much better. What could be causing it? Also the rear defroster, when working, defrosts the window in a "V" shape, meaning the center is clear but the sides and top/bottom are still frosted. I have a 2014 GLS.
View 21 RepliesI've noticed that often in the morning, my Touareg has condensation forming on the inside of the front winshield. I don't drive the vehicle daily. I have looked for a moisture source inside of the vehicle but it is bone dry.
View 3 RepliesAs stated in the title I'm having condensation on the inside of the windshield, but I only notice it when I get off work and go out to start my car (I work second shift and get off at 11:30pm) but when i go out in the morning or afternoon I don't notice any. I pretty much roll everywhere with my windows up so I'm not getting rain in it other than when i open the doors to get in and out.
View 6 RepliesOn the lower part of the windshield I get condensation. So the cool windshield blower takes it off. But what causes that? Mine is a Ford Taurus 2010 SEL.
View 1 RepliesLooking for a solution to the windshield condensation problem found in humid states. I took my Touareg in for the TSB but it has not worked much.
View 9 RepliesHave a cracking noise coming from the rear windshield/deck when going over bumps when the car is cold? I've had this consistently since I got the car. It also has been consistently cold so there have been no warm days for me to tell if this noise goes away when it's warm out or not. It is extremely annoying though and I can't really pinpoint what it is either.
View 2 RepliesI have a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. At speeds of 50 mph or more, there is a high pitched whistling noise which seems to emanate from the passenger side windshield area. I believe the noise is caused by a faulty windshield seal. I recall a similar whistling noise when I had a windshield replaced on a vehicle years ago by. I called Safelite Autoglass back, and to their credit, they sent someone out to re-seat the windshield, which resolved the problem. So I'm assuming the dealer will be able to do the same. I hesitate to call it wind noise because all cars have that to one extent or another.
View 9 RepliesI'm getting condensation on my windshield and on not even blowing air there..
Also my car air vents smells. Tried to clean it twice with Klimaclean foam spray but both times, no water came out from under the car.
I've come to the conclusion that the drain plug is clogged. Where he drain plug is located? It's easier for me to look for it if I kind of have a general location rather than to search the entire car.
About a month ago, I traded my 04 V6 for an 07 V6. Everything was fine except that this morning I turned on the A/C for the first time (had been in Econ) and what happens? Condensation on the lower portion of the windshield just like in the 04.
View 3 RepliesI have only 3 days with my new Treg and I cannot make the A/C to stop blowing cool air off the upper vent into the windshield. So the cold air makes condensate water on the outside and I have to use the wipers to wipre it out, appearing again in few seconds. The A/C settings are either AUTO at 70F or manual and making sure the air is directed to the front.
View 18 RepliesOn my 2011, I have been running AC in the normal setting and in max setting, but don't get the water dripping on the ground like I am used to seeing, especially with the high heat and humidity. My 2000 truck used to make lots of water and the wife's '09 Flex does too.
Is this normal with the new trucks?
Noticed the condensation from the exhaust seems to only exit on the left muffler when the vehicle is idling?
Is there an actuator that turns the right side unit on under heavier acceleration?
BMW uses an actuator on their exhaust system that opens up to create more airflow when above a certain RPM.
So I purchased a 2011 Jetta SE last Saturday 6/18 mainly for my wife to drive around. It has 200 miles on it, she picks me up from work today we notice that there is a 7" crack in the windshield behind the registration and emissions stickers. It looks like something may have hit the edge of the windshield (probably a rock) and started the process. She doesn't remember anything specifically.
I drove a Mazda 3 for four years on the same roads with no damage to the windshield. The VW windshield couldn't take one rock?
So the insurance company says over 6", not repairable, I will have to pay my $500 deductible and have it replaced. I plan to call the dealer tomorrow to see what my options are, if any, besides replacing it.
having just picked up a new 2011 GTI 2-door. Got a fantastic deal and couldn't be happier. I was a previous MkIV R32 owner and a vortex member, but the admins haven't responded to my request to get my old userID reinstated (it's attached to a forgotten password and an outdated email address).
So while I'm thrilled with the new GTI, I'm having some growing pains. It's cold here in MD and so my clear bra install didn't go do well. Still, the paint is protected and I'll redo it in the spring.
But today I drove the car in the sunshine for the first time (took it home at night) and found two small scratches in the windshield right at driver's eye level. They are thin, but they are there (you can just barely feel them with your fingernail), about 2 inches long and about a half an inch apart - given the arc, they were probably caused by the windshield wipers.
My question is this: the car has 47 miles on it and I just got it home, so these scratches were likely there when I bought the car (it had never even been test driven). Which option would you all pick???
1. It's a brand new car, call the dealer and make them buff out the scratches or replace the windshield, or,
2. Accept that new German windshield glass is SUPER soft and it is going to get scratched anyway, and just enjoy the new GTI.
As you can see, I'm obsessing a bit, as one does with a brand new car. I was really bummed out about the clear bra install failure, and now this.
