What to do with the ECS light being lit up after changing the steering column? Checked everything and can't figure out why the light is on, it's the light with the car that looks like it's sliding WITHOUT the ''off'' underneath. I'm assuming it just needs to be reset.

View 1 RepliesOn my 2013 GLS i went to adjust the column back to me as my girlfriend drove on saturday night (octoberfest ) and as i pulled it back out the car shut off. i pushed it back in a little and the car started fine and has until i tested the issue again this morning when i got to work. i moved it about half way out and the radio shutoff. moved it a little more and the whole car shut off. it will not start until i push it back in some.
I am thinking that a cannon plug or something is either too short or routed wrong or something to that effect as i have the ignition on the column instead of the push button.
I bought a 2011 Sonata (GLS 4dr Sedan with the 2.4L 198hp engine). Till now i got a lot of issuses like the knocking in the steering gear column etc but i fixed all by myself. Now i am looking for a new or used but in a good condition oem exhaust. Because always I am revving really light from 1000rpm to 15000rpm I am hearing a loud rattling sound. Like something in the exhaust is not fixed and is vibrating out of that thing.
View 2 RepliesWhen going down the road I notice a rattle noise coming from the steering column area. I took it to the dealer a week or so after noticing it. I purchased the car brand new and like I said I took it to the dealer a week after purchasing it and they said they could not find anything and said they zip tied the brake lines or some bs hoping that would solve my problem.
It is now kind of obvious and I am going to take it back in to another dealership that has a better reputation.

So out of no where I have a Clunk type sound coming from my steering column. But only when I turn the steering wheel five percent either way. Steering is still 100 percent responsive though.

View 5 RepliesI am working on a salvage car that I bought recently. It was stolen, they cut the wire harness to the GPS system and messed up the steering column. I replaced the steering column with a 2012 GTI steering column and steering wheel. I bought a RNS 315 but I dont have any luck finding a wiring connector for it. After I installed the steering column, when I turn the ignition key nothing comes on in the gauge cluster. I know the car wont start till the key is programmed. My question is do I need to fix the wire harness so that when I turn the key ON the cluster will light up? Where I can find the connector for RNS 315. Regarding the airbag, will a GTI airbag work on a Golf TDI?

View 4 RepliesBrand new 2011 tiguan SEL with the Kessy keyless entry and ignition system. Today it wouldn't start. Had it over at my brothers house, vsited for a bit and then were heading out to dinner. The steering wheel light on the tach face was flashing red and beeping at me. Foot on the brake, finger on the engine start/stop button and nothing - the red steering wheel icon just flashes and beeps. The frustrating part was since the car is brand new, I had the owners manual on the dining room table at my house, an hour away It was just a few minutes after 6, so I was unable to get anyone in the service dept at the dealer I bought it from. Luckily, the salesperson returned my call (go Francisco!) and grabbed a manual from another Tiguan to tell me what the flashing light means. Basically, it means the car won't start. Very frustrating, the car has 268 miles on it and is only 6 days old. Having it towed back to the dealer for diagnoses and repair. CSB?
View 13 RepliesI did a search on all three of these and did not find anything.
1) Odd noise coming from steering column while turning.
2) Vanity mirror on driver's side, the lid/flap thingy does not stay open.
3) Trunk only opens when using key. Using FOB of door button does not work. You can hear movement but it does not open.
I ask this because when on the hwy (60-70mph) you can feel some vibration in your hands. I can let the steering wheel go and it won't move a bit but when hands placed on it you can definitely feel the road, including bumps, and regardless of road conditions. Tires where balanced at 7500mi but it still happens. Regardless of temperature or PSI in the tire.
I thought we had electric/electronic steering and no hydraulics? Maybe unrelated but, when turning in my driveway, very slow, I can hear a slight clicking (maybe rubbing) noise coming from the steering wheel column. Everything else has to be silent to be able to hear it.
This started today, when I turn off the ignition and remove the key the radio stays on and the steering column does not lock. The guy at the dealership suggested spraying wd 40 into the ignition. No go.

View 18 RepliesYesterday while changing the bulbs in my door on my 2011 Sonata to led there was some sort of short and all the door lights, dome lights, clock and temprerure light, key fob stopped working. My tire pressure lights came on and every time I start my car the radio resets. I checked all fuses and all my tires have the right tire pressure.
View 1 RepliesPossible to change the setting for the auto mode for the headlight to come on when it gets dark? I've always thought that they don't come on soon enough, particularly in heavy rain or towards sunset when I see many other cars with headlights on.
Couldn't find a section in the manual, but wondered if there was any undocumented tweak I could perform to get the lights to come on sooner so I can leave in in auto mode and not worry about it.
While trying to troubleshoot a suspension noise (knock on potholes and when changing from drive to reverse) I found my outer tie rod end to have alot of play. This is similar on both passenger and driver sides.
Is this normal? I couldn't see any other issues with the other components including the bushings.

To make things short.. took the car in last month for the recalls and now the steering column lock just came up with the steering light flashing. Never happened.. ever until I did the dam recall. Taking it back to the the dealer to see what it is. Maybe a loss connection.

Lately I'm getting the sound inside the car. It feels like a loose bushing or something.
So recently I took in the sonata to get the inhibitor switch replaced at the dealership (faulty switch causes loss of the gear indication and the car doesn't move when in gear). After getting the car back, it now buzzes when I put it into reverse or drive. It never did this before. Is this normal after getting the inhibitor switch changed and if it will go back to normal after a while.
