View 21 RepliesI have this noticeable creaking noise that pops up every now and then on the front passenger side of the car. Problem is it is hard to replicate to the dealer. I usually notice it going over dips at some times, and most when I make a right turn into a raised road. Otherwise, not a peep out of the car.
View 19 RepliesI got my Sonata at 27k, its now at 76k and the cars been great although I had the following issues.
I've noticed sometimes when I startup and shift into reverse the car jerks a bit and its not a smooth transition. However other times the car is very fluid in switching gears. Should I take it in to have a look at it?
Also when I am turning onto a unleveled road (usually a higher road), I notice a creaking/knocking noise coming from the front of the car, also notice it when I reverse into a parking space sometimes.
Having suspensions creaking sounds coming from the back left/right side? A friend of mine has the sonata too but is having the sound coming from the left, mine is on the right.
View 6 RepliesWell I had the rear lower control arms replaced for the recall. My car creaks and pops when i go over uneven places like from to road to driveway or up a steep incline since the swap. the noise is loud and comes from the back of the car.
View 1 RepliesSometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.
In the drivers seat, when I lean forward, the seat makes a creaking noise. Not when I go backward and rest, but when I come forward. I just got this problem and I've barely put more than 7,000 miles on it

There is a loud groaning/creaking noise coming from the front suspension area. At low speeds, this noise dominates all other noises and is directly related to hitting the gas or pressing the brakes, which produces a forward or backward force on the front suspension and chassis. I can sometimes hear it briefly just by pushing against the parked car.
My hope is that I can just tighten up some bolts and make this go away, but other posts suggest it may be struts, stabilizer links or other non-obvious sources.
So a noise has come up in my Sonata. Sounds like it's behind the dash. Only happens when the car is idling in drive and the AC is on. With the slightest increase in rpm, it goes away. Doesn't happen in N or P. Sometimes goes away, but also sometimes gets louder than what I recorded below. I've only checked the dash and glove box so far. [URL] ......
View 5 RepliesWhile trying to troubleshoot a suspension noise (knock on potholes and when changing from drive to reverse) I found my outer tie rod end to have alot of play. This is similar on both passenger and driver sides.
Is this normal? I couldn't see any other issues with the other components including the bushings.

I have had my car for two weeks and I noticed a rattling noise when I pull out in drive (DSG). It only rattles sometimes and at very low rpm for about two or three seconds and it goes away. The dealership has looked at it twice and didn't find anything. Of course, when I drove around with the mechanic it didn't rattle. Someone posted a video with some flex pipe noise which is very similar to what I am experience but it was mentioned on it that the rattle should go away after some miles. I already have 700 miles and still rattles. Dealership said the exhaust wasn't loose.
I finally got my GTI after having a hard time letting my beloved Rabbit go away and this noise is keeping me awake at night.
My vehicle: 2013 Sonata Limited - 4500 mi. When I park on an incline, set the parking brake then release the foot brake, hear a 'creaking' noise from rear. Dealer says "it's normal and nothing can be done" ? I don't think so...
View 6 Replies2012 Sonata Limited... I purchased my car in November of 2011. It had allegedly been driven for 5500 miles by a salesperson at the dealership.
Within a week, both my husband and I noticed that the cruise control would simply not go on every once in a while. The dealer claims to have taken apart the cruise control, looking for problems, but says there are no problems; that I should come back in after docummenting problems more specifically.
I also continue to hear the creaking noise in the sun-roof area. Allegedly, the Body Shop adjusted the headliner clips, but I still hear creaking.
I am most concerned with the cruise control, but annoyed at the dealer for keeping my car for over two weeks and having achieved nothing. I like the car, but this kind of a start with it makes me want to sell it and go get either another Honda or a used Volvo.
Had this issue with my Kia Optima 2013 pertaining to the brake pedal, now with my 14 Sonata Limited. When in stop and go traffic, parking lot driving, or pulling into the garage that requires a lighter touch on the brake pedal, the pedal has a creaking feel to it, like when closing a creaky door. I can make this happen of course when I push the brake pedal slowly with my hand. This also happens when letting up on the pedal slowly/lightly. Kind of annoying, but the brakes work just fine and dandy
View 3 RepliesWhenever my car go over a bump or uneven road, it causes a thumping noise in the rear driver. I have ultra racing rear sway.
I have re-lubricated the bushing, and changed the oem end links to moog.
Have little wind noise on the driver side door up by the top. My wife's 2010 elantra has it and dealer couldn't hear it.
View 5 RepliesSo I backed into a pole in a parking lot the other day with my 1996 Honda Accord. After that I've noticed a creaking noise when I get into my car and when I'm driving it, EXCEPT when I take hard turns... then there's no noise. I can reproduce the noise by pushing on my bumper. The only visible damage to my bumper is a little scraping around where the exhaust pipe is. Is this just the bumper itself making this creaking noise or could it be something more serious?
View 2 RepliesJust got a 2012 Limited 2.0T about 3 weeks ago. Didn't notice until last week that there is a noise coming from drivers front tire area at low speed (15-20mph). It sounds like a thin piece a metal is getting snagged and then snapping back into place. Took it back to Hyundai and they pulled the wheel and said everything looks fine and that it's due to new brakes needing to "wear in". At the time it was very limited when you would hear it, in the past week it's increased to an almost constant noise until I get over 20mph. I've searched and can't find anything dealing with this particular noise, what exactly I should look for when I pull everything apart? I'm more inclined to try and fix myself than believe the dealer. I can't seem to isolate it to a particular thing when driving, it does it on turns, going straight, stopping, accelerating.
View 9 RepliesIve got a 2011 Sonata GLS with 111k miles. I purchased the car new. For the past several months the brakes make a crunch or creaking sound when the pedal is being pressed OR released. The funny thing is it only happens when driving forward. When I apply the brakes while reversing, the brakes are silent. I did a pad slap at 68k and have taken everything apart, cleaned and re-lubed to no avail. The sound can be heard at the front wheels when someone else works the pedal while the car is parked. Pads have about 50% thickness. Pads? Calipers, master cylinder?
View 27 RepliesI have a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. At speeds of 50 mph or more, there is a high pitched whistling noise which seems to emanate from the passenger side windshield area. I believe the noise is caused by a faulty windshield seal. I recall a similar whistling noise when I had a windshield replaced on a vehicle years ago by. I called Safelite Autoglass back, and to their credit, they sent someone out to re-seat the windshield, which resolved the problem. So I'm assuming the dealer will be able to do the same. I hesitate to call it wind noise because all cars have that to one extent or another.
View 9 RepliesI just bought a 2013 Sonata. There is a whistling noise from the passenger side vent closest to the door that appears at about 70 mph when in MaxAC mode. It is high pitched like a venturi. It goes away when switched out of MaxAC mode or when the speed drops below 70. I am guessing that it has something to do with the outside air being squeezed off.
