Have a cracking noise coming from the rear windshield/deck when going over bumps when the car is cold? I've had this consistently since I got the car. It also has been consistently cold so there have been no warm days for me to tell if this noise goes away when it's warm out or not. It is extremely annoying though and I can't really pinpoint what it is either.
View 2 RepliesI have an 05 avalon. There has always been this rattling noise from the rear deck lid (i suppose). The noise is so annoying. I suspect its coming from that deck lid. I also have a buzzing rear electric shade that has refused to go down. Just removed the fuse

View 1 RepliesOn both my front windshield as well as my rear window I see small shiny speckles in the glass when the sun is shining thru the glass particularly in early morning and later in the day when the sun angle is low. At first I thought it was tree sap but a thorough cleaning did nothing to improve it. So I used a claybar on the window thinking it may be some other type of contaminant and that did nothing either. The speckles are still there. I have not tried polishing the windshield and rear window.
View 8 RepliesNow that the weather has gotten very cold, I used the rear windshield defroster a couple of times this week. The smell that it emits is absolutely disgusting, I had to turn it off. The front defroster isn't much better. What could be causing it? Also the rear defroster, when working, defrosts the window in a "V" shape, meaning the center is clear but the sides and top/bottom are still frosted. I have a 2014 GLS.

View 10 RepliesWhen driving my 2013 Sonata with the rear windows open the deck below the back window starts vibrating horribly. You can actually see it moving up and down. If I also have the stereo on the vibrations distort the sound something awful. Close the window and the vibration goes away. Is it a defect, and is there a quick fix? Only problem with the car so far.

View 7 RepliesI drive a Sport and have installed a subwoofer and amplifier to work with the stock head unit and speakers. However, I find the subwoofer sounds a bit muffled and I think I need to create a bit of an air flow between the trunk and the cockpit.
I did notice the rear deck has a big hole where the 8 inch subwoofer sits in higher trims. The hole is however, covered with a plastic dummy or cap or placeholder or whatever it is Hyundai calls it. If I can remove that, I can make some air flow and believe the subwoofer might sound better. How to remove it?
I have a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. At speeds of 50 mph or more, there is a high pitched whistling noise which seems to emanate from the passenger side windshield area. I believe the noise is caused by a faulty windshield seal. I recall a similar whistling noise when I had a windshield replaced on a vehicle years ago by. I called Safelite Autoglass back, and to their credit, they sent someone out to re-seat the windshield, which resolved the problem. So I'm assuming the dealer will be able to do the same. I hesitate to call it wind noise because all cars have that to one extent or another.

the car is lowered about an 1.5 inches and and sit on a staggered wheel set. 18x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 in the rear. Just want to know if I should be worried.
I recently purchased a 2009 Camry with 95,000 miles. The Camry was purchased new at the dealer that I bought it from and all of the maintenance had been done at the same dealer so I have records of everything.
I did not notice any rattles when I test drove the Camry but driving it the next day I noticed two rattles. The first rattle was the deck area behind the back seat. That was easily fixed with some card board shims placed the right places. I will do a permanent fix later.
The other rattle was driving me crazy. It did not do it all of the time and to me it sounded "exactly" like it was coming from the area around or in the glove box. I took the glove box and the area around it off and could not find the source of the rattle. I had my daughter drive the car while I set in the passenger seat and the rattle never occurred.
I finally found the source of the rattle. It was the lid for the center console. The lid originally had two rubber bumpers. Both of the bumpers were either missing or worn completely down. When I had my elbow on the center console lid the rattle did not occur. I fixed it with stick on drawer stops.
Have a noise from cold starts in the morning when it is cold outside? Mine does a ticking noise, no not the normal ticking noise, but a different ticking noise like something is tapping something. Could this be that the fuel injectors or cold so it makes a louder noise? Another noise is constant clicking when I decelerate or am going very slow. It only does this when it is cold outside and it lasts for about 10 to 15 minutes and then the noise becomes a lot quiter. Is this normal?

View 5 RepliesWe bought a 2014 hyundai sonata on 28th of october. every thing worked fine. When we test drove we didn't notice the road noise. but yesterday we did notice it and it is unbearable. it sounds like it is coming from the front. I called the dealer and told them this is too much. We asked if we could return the car. we only had it 3 days. The dealer says he can fix it. We think it is a design problem. We just sold our 2009 sonata which was a very good car.
View 24 RepliesSometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2012 Sonata, just last December I started hearing like a ticking noise as I was driving. At first I didn't think nothing of it as it stopped. a few days later and moving forward the noise becomes intermittent. I took it to the dealer several times and they couldn't hear it until I had a technician drive with me and he heard it. As they began to examine my car I was told that the noise is coming for the high pressure valve and it is normal. The thing is the car has never made this noise until last year.

My 2013 Sonata GLS has a noise that is in the rear of the vehicle going down the road. I rotated tires from back to front and noise seemed to move to front. I moved them back to rear so noise would be behind me. This told me the noise must be the tires or wheels. The tires are a long way from being worn out so I keep running them. I have the stock alloy wheels but previous owner put 225/40R18 tires on car. Tires size on door jam label says tire size on this GLS is supposed to be 225/45R18.
Could it be the wheels and not the tires? Another possibility could be factory lug nuts on back wheels. I read in my street rod magazine that lug taper length must be shorter than the taper length on wheel lug holes. Lugs cannot be so long that lugs hit the wheel backplate leaving the wheels slightly loose and not centered leaving a slight tire wobble when driving. The article says the lug taper much be shorter than the taper in the wheels in order to snug the nuts. I did not switch the lugs when rotating tires to front. If this is the problem rather than tires or wheels, Hyundai had a lug supplier problem.
I have a '06 sonata 3.3 v6. Let me first describe what was happening to the car before the noise started. When I first started the car and put the ac, the first time turning the steering wheel in either direction the steering wheel would tighten up and the battery indicator light would come on and the fasten seatbelt light would flash even though I had the belt fastened. It would only happen the first time I would make a turn and after that I could turn with no problem. So in recap, it would only happen on the first turn and only when the ac was on. Now when I start the car up there is a noise coming form the pulley/belt area. I wouldn't classify it as a squeaking noise more like a grinding. I've looked at the belt and it seems to be fine. After I start to drive the car the noise goes away. If I start the car again after a drive within about 2 hours the noise doesn't happen when I start it. What this noise could be? and also could the noise and the steering wheel tightening when the ac is on be connected?
