The air bag light in the dash came up, and stays up. I checked for connections under the seats, and tried the battery disconnect thing. N/G. It's my son's car, and until he brings it in to get the code read, is there anything I can do in the meantime?
View 4 RepliesTPMS sensor has recently came in and stays on. However i checked all 4 tires and the pressures in them are at the appropriate values. I am assuming this could be related to maybe the system just not "seeing" one of the sensors or something. I heard if you use an OBD2 adapter you can see the values reported and it will show exactly what tire is reporting the problem.
View 13 RepliesWhenever I start my 2011 Sonata Turbo after it has been resting overnight, the brake warning light comes on and stays on. It's not immediate—it usually takes five to ten seconds, and whether the emergency brake was on when I started has no effect. Once it goes on, it cannot be shut off without shutting off the car and restarting—at which time it acts normally. The braking system is fine.
View 4 RepliesJust purchased the 2012 GLS this past Saturday and everything is good except for one thing. My dome light even in the "door" position stays on after starting the car and driving. I have to manually switch it to off to turn the interior light off, which is annoying. I called the dealership today and they had no prior experience with that problem. BTW, I did have a sunroof installed.

I didn't have problems until I took it to a car wash a few months ago and I think one of the workers did something by accident because it hadn't worked since. I have to keep it OFF at night but I hate entering my car at night and no light comes on.
View 1 RepliesSometimes when I start my car, parking brake light fails to go off. I know this is usually indicative of low brake fluid, but mine is not low. I rarely use the brake so I don't think it's the parking brake switch either as it only happens if the parking brake is not engaged. Never happens on the occasional use of it.
Restarting doesn't seem to work unless I set the brake, restart, then disengage it. Very strange problem. Not a big deal but is a bit perplexing. I never see a CEL or any codes generated at all.
I recently (July 2016) bought a 2012 2.0T Limited with 14K miles. Got an awesome deal on it and really love the car. About two months ago the car had a total loss of power/boost. I took it into the dealer and they performed a wastegate actuator adjustment (something I will be doing on my own now if it becomes a problem again). Now at about 21k miles I'm having a different issue. Here is what's happening:
Accelerating from a stop the car feels as if it's falling out of gear intermittently. Once it happens and I press the gas more/floor it, the car doesn't respond. If I let off the gas and then press it again, the car will then start to accelerate again. On the highway cruising at 70ish, the same thing happens and it even oscillates with constant throttle like its down/up shifting. The ESC light came after a 20 mile highway trip of this oscillation. No CEL. When I got off the freeway, the navigation screen said there may be a problem and I should press the bluelink button.
When this is happening the cruise control either doesn't work at all or the "cruise" light will come on but I can't set a speed. Tonight I noticed in the rear view mirror that the brake light stays on or even flutters after I brake which corresponds to when the cruise is or isnt working as well as when the car intermittently falls out of gear/oscillates falling out of gear with constant throttle. If I notice the brake light is on without actually braking, I can take my foot and pull the brake pedal towards me which turns off the brake light and then the car seems to work correctly as well as the cruise control. The car is driveable but definitely something is wrong.
I should mention that I checked the voltage for the wastegate actuator and it is 3.97v which I believe is within tolerance. All of these issues with no CEL.
I just had my oil changed today and while driving home the red airbag light came on in the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag light on the dash started flashing. When I connected the passenger seatbelt the flashing light went off. While in the dealer also tightened some screws in the center console. I have an under the seat subwoofer that is VERY snug...could that have damaged something when the seat was slid back?
View 10 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited. The rear defroster light on the dash does not light up. The rear window defroster DOES work, but the light does not light up. I took it to the Hyundai dealer and they ordered and replaced some module. They saw the light still did not light up. The service manager said she called other dealers and discovered that none of the 2012 Sonata rear defroster lights lit up, so concluded it was supposed to be that way.
View 4 RepliesI just got the Hyundai Sonata SE 2013 and it's great so far. I have a question about the recycled air button. It seems to be controlled by the internal computer for different scenarios.
My issue is that when I have the air turned on and let's so that I turn it off (set to 0) the recycled air mode disables and I start smelling the outside air coming in. So I have to manually push the button to enable recycle air to close the outside vents.
Also, when I turn off the car and later start it back up again recycled air is disabled again! How can I get the mode to stay on recycled air (or the mode it was previously on) when I start the car!?
2-3 times a month the yellow TPMS light with exclamation point comes on, blinks about 10 times, and stays on steady. It's been doing this pretty consistently since I got the car, with one exception. I have a separate set of wheels & snow tires for winter and those have their own sensors. When I had those on the car for 2 months, I never saw the TPMS light. As soon as I put the OEM wheels back on, it lit again.
So finally I went to the dealer today. I figured it was a bad sensor. Naturally the light wasn't on when I got there. They scanned it and saw in the history a communication failure with all four wheels. They called Hyundai, then came back and told me that electronic equipment that I'm driving past can set it off. They mentioned banks & cell towers, among other things.
I don't think this is my issue. I travel the same route every day. The light comes on intermittently, sometimes when I'm on a rural highway away from any electronics. And I drive by plenty of banks and cell towers without it coming on.
So they didn't do anything for me. I'm at 43K. My concern is once I hit 60K and the warranty is done, if the TPMS brain croaks, I'll be on the hook for it.
After spilling coffee down emergency brake lever the airbag light intermittently stays on. OBD showed no codes.
Found a couple of recalls that deal with airbag problems. One messed with the wiring harness under neath both front seats. The old wires hung down to low. The 2nd added a cover to not allow liquid to get on the connector/airbag electronics. The airbag electronics connector is directly below the emergency handbrake lever.
My nephews 2002 had the carpet extended over the connector/airbag electronics and that was suppose to protect the connector from getting wet.
Found sticky coffee on connector/airbag electronics.
Used screw driver to pry up on console tray. Then removed 3 screws on both side of console. Disconnected battery then used contact cleaner on connector and electronic module. Took plastic lid from 42oz round container of oatmeal and used double side tape to secure over connector/electronic module.
Airbag light is off and connector/airbag electronics has better protection from spills.
Got in my car yesterday and the airbag light on the dash stays on and a airbag fault message pops up in screen next to the speedo. What could be the problem?
View 3 RepliesI own a 2002 excursion and my dash light for door ajar stays on, I pulled all of the contacts off the rear doors and hatch and found that there are no electric hook up to what I thought would be the contacts i needed to be looking at. So what relays the signal to my dash that the doors are in fact closed?
View 14 RepliesOk so i have an 02 F350 7.3 with 89k on it ... Ive had the truck about 2 years now and ever since i bought it the ABS light has been on. So finally i got to scanning it and codes popped up for the front speed sensors and the rear speed sensor. So i went ahead and just put all new MOOG hub assemblies in the truck which come with the speed sensor already in the them and i also replaced the rear speed sensor, which was difficult!!! Becuase the bolt was seized and i ended up have to drill and tap a new one and even then the sensor seats in the hole in the diff but doesn't seat flush with the housing if you really tighten it down, and it leaked a little fluid at first but i ended up loosening up the bolt a little to make it seat better and then i put silicone around the bottom of the sensor and it stopped leaking... Anyway I've fixed both the code issues and cleared them, BUT, the rear speed sensor code pops back up immediately after clearing it and the ABS light on my dash stays lit .... Idk what to do at this point because I've fixed everything and it still pops the code for the rear sensor, I just want the Light on my dash to go off thats all ! ...
View 6 RepliesTwo years ago I replaced the rear turning lights with LEDs and updated the flasher. Last week as the headlights came on I saw on my dashboard the left turn signal was on. I stopped and checked, the rear left turning light was on, not flashing and the front parking/turning light was off.
When the headlight are off, there is no problem flashing. The right side is flashing with HL on or off. I replaced the left side rear turning light with a bulb and the problem went away. The front bulb and rear LED are good. What is going on?
After I turn the car off the "PARK" light in the Dash stays lit for about 6 seconds after all the other lights have turned off. Is this normal?
I will advise, I have the parking brake set to auto and the car seems to be functioning normally.
What the code "32" means for the airbag? Lately my airbag light on the dash will blink 3-2 for several cycles then stays on solid til I shut down the truck.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2011 Santa Fe 3.5 6, FWD, 54k miles, that has been having the check engine light go on and off. Recently with in the pass month and a half the dealership has perform the recall adjustment, changed the manifold intake assy, changed the ECM with all visits rendered a P200A code. After changing the manifold assy, check engine light was off and fuel gage was at a 1/4 tank. Stop by a gas station and filled up and the light comes on. Remove gas cap after turning off engine and secured gas cap as directed on the cap of one click and light stays on. Turning into the dealership for the 4th time.
View 4 RepliesI got all my recalls done a couple of months ago. The dealership should have fixed a recall regarding a bad gear shift. It was fixed for free. However, I seem to be getting a bad gear once in a while. The gear on the dash goes blank. The problem is difficult to reproduce with a test drive. Now I wonder if the dealership will charge me this time, since it was already fixed once.
