THis is about the 5th or 6th time in the past year (2X in past 2 weeks) that the A/C will not come on. Two times took to Dealer & it worked just fine. Ir worked when I drove it, then parked it for 2 hours, and then it wouldn't work. Parked it, and then it worked fine again.
Dealer has no knowledge of this being an issue.
Similarly, my iPhone does not connect on an intermittent basis - again, always connects when at dealer.
I just replaced my OEM battery with a duralast from autozone. The battery had 138,000 miles. Shortly after, the check engine light came on and code says P0106. Map Sensor. Seems like to much of coincidence that this happened. Have read that disconnecting battery cables for 3 hours may do the trick.

View 8 RepliesJust picked up a 2012 GLS two weeks ago. So far I like the car. Unfortunately, I do about 40 miles a day of traffic driving. I have noticed the car seems to downshift from possibly 4th to 3rd right around 35mph. This downshift is noticeable and the engine has to rev to match the change. It is not a high rev, just a noticeable engine braking. Is this normal? I dont feel like anything is wrong just seems like the computers are not sure when to downshift.
When the car comes to a complete stop with your foot on the brake, does the car lower its rpm by 100-200pms? Seems like this is a gas saving technique. I have noticed it when While at a light and I lift my foot slighty the car feels like either the brakes are grabbing or the rpms are to low.
Sometimes when I put my AC on it makes a hum. It starts soft, gets louder and louder then fades away.. It's not all the time, one of those hard to diagnose intermittent noises..

I am having one problem with my car though. Both of my key fobs work for a few minutes after the car is turned off. Then they will not unlock the car. When I hit unlock the lights come on inside, but it does not unlock the doors. The lights come on with the fob regardless of how long it has been since I started the car. If I unlock the car with my keys the car alarm goes off and the engine is immobilized. I can then get out of the car, lock it with the key and unlock it again and it works. I can also start the car if I unlock the door and wait a couple of minutes before I attempt to start the car.
After this the key fobs work again for about two minutes after the car is turned off. The key fob batteries are new and the car has a brand new battery. The dealer replaced the central locking mechanism thinking that was the problem. It did not resolve the issue.
My car is a 2011 Sonata GLS with nav/dimesion. I have 55K miles on it and still have warranty.
If the speedo shows me going 40MPH, my phone GPS and radar signs show me going 37-38MPH.
Is this something I should have the dealer correct or just roll with it? I've seen others post similar results, so wondering if ALL Sonatas do this?
OEM 18' wheels/tires.
I have 90K and the SRS light came on a few months ago. What could be causing it?
View 2 RepliesI bought my New Sonata in March 2012 and loved the Nav Bluetooth. I could say "call name" it would ask who and I would say a name from my contacts and it would connect no problem. One day a few months ago it just stopped working? I took it into the dealership and after 3 service members and the guy who sold my car to me couldn't get it to work they told me my Nav system needed to be replaced. I brought it back a few days later and left it for many hours. They called and said it was ready. I went to pick it up and they told me that it wasn't the Nav system that an "update" needed to happen? The service guy said that it should be a few weeks. Me knowing nothing about iPhones and Nav systems left confused. fast forward two months later it still isn't working! I also brought it in for an oil change a few weeks back and ask them if they have any update and they said no.
View 44 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS and my fog lights wont turn on with the HIDs installed but they turn on with my regular halogen bulbs? I installed HIDs on the low beam headlight and they work perfect with the computer warning and anti-flicker. when i installed the fog light HID kit on my fog lights, they just make a quick flicker for like 1 second then they turn off. I have switched ballast, reconnected wires, and thought of switching polarities. Haven't done that yet because power is reaching the bulb.
View 20 RepliesI have owned and driven a 2011 Sonata for the past 9 months (12,000 kms). In the last two weeks the eco light on the dash has delayed coming on until the car has been driven for five minutes or so - usually around three kilometers. Once it comes on, it will function in the normal manner and will come on the moment the car moves even after it having been parked for a while. My thought is a sensor problem or a loose connection but I am not sure.

View 1 RepliesLove the car; hate the noise. Very quiet up front, well-isolated engine and wind noise. Perhaps that is why I am hearing a bunch of road or tire noise from the REAR only. Noise varies somewhat with speed but it is driving me crazy. Somewhat muted with the stereo at volume level 12 (or higher). I have not been to the dealer yet but am wondering if something is NOT properly sealed or undercoated in the rear. I noticed the wheel wells are partially coated but mostly plastic. Plus, since this is a GLS, there is a large void in the underbody where the second muffler & associated hardware/piping goes on the SE. Not sure if the LIMITED model has additional sound deadening material but my GLS is too noisy.
View 42 RepliesI travel this interstate route often that is somewhat hilly. I always use cruise control. When I got my 2007 Sonata (I4) 4 speed A/T and traveled on this road I never noticed much down shifting. Later my daughter bought a 2010 Sonata (I4) 5 speed A/T, and on this road I noticed the Xmission downshifting sometimes. When I got my 2013 (I4) 6 speed A/T, I started noticing it more often downshifting. I'm sure thats since the final drive ratio is much higher in each successive car. When my wife is driving she doesn't notice but I can tell even from the passenger seat. I can stop the downshifting by putting it in manual mode. but I see the RPMs increase somewhat. I assume thats from the TC lockup disengaging and the CC trying to maintain speed if a long hill. I suppose if the hill was long enough and steep enough that I would eventually lose speed but that doesn't occur(very much). If that is more economically that letting it just go ahead and downshift. Am I the only one annoyed by this constant up/down shifting?
View 21 RepliesI was coming back from work today and it was about 75 degrees out. Turned the temp control as low as it would go and without pressing the a/c button. When I got home I saw fluid marks where I pulled in on the concrete pad. Looked under the car and there was a good sized puddle of water dripping from the car like the a/c had been running but I never turned it on.
So I guess my question is, when you turn the temp control as cold as it goes or close to it, does the a/c automatically come on even without pressing the button or the light for it coming on?
I just wanted to bring in cool air in just running the fan to reduce road noise and not using a/c, and thought the air was pretty cold and at 75 degrees it shouldn't have been that cold. I didn't notice any power loss which I had been used to with my other car running a/c as well.
I picked up my 2012 limited Turbo last night but noticed there's a rattle of some sort when I accelerate around 2k rpm, it kind of sounds like a bunch of metals being shaken up. Is this normal? I am also trying to test for the left/right pull, but with all the bad roads here in the city its getting kinda tough.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata and have had trouble getting it started. A few days ago it kept turning but wouldn't start. I tried jumping it and nothing. Then it randomly turned on. I thought it was the battery and switched that out today but now it won't start at all. Sounds like it's trying to and then has a noise that keeps going for about 10 seconds after . I've seen other posts about issues with the 2.4L engines and am wondering if I'm having the same problem. I have a video for it here: [URL] .....

No code in the ECU. 2011 Sonata 2.4L.
I read that pulling the fuse will reset them but I don't see the fuses being labeled with 'ABS'. Which fuse controls the ABS and TC?
I found ESR along with several ECU but nothing that jumps out at me.
I was checking my oil the other the other day and it has a pretty strong smell of gas. The car has 2700 miles and still on the original oil. I drive about 20 miles to work one way and don't make a lot of short trips. I checked tho oil when the car was new and didn't notice the smell. Whats going on? Is this normal for a GDI engine? I will take the care in this week to talk to the service manager but wanted to get some input before i went in.
View 8 RepliesI bought a HID kit from XenonSupply a few weeks ago, installed it following their video exactly, and it's been working fine so far but yesterday the left bulb stopped turning on.
I opened the hood and made sure everything was still connected and it was. After opening the hood, I noticed the passenger side ballast (the working one) was buzzing and the driver side ballast wasn't buzzing (and not working).
After getting in my car, I turned my lights off and on about 10-20 times and FINALLY both turned on. But now, sometimes when I turn my car on, they both turn on OR only the passenger side turns on.
I called XenonSupply and they told me it's a bad connection with the grounding wire, but my friend who knows a lot more about how cars work than I do looked at it and told me the connection was fine, but the ballast is probably bad.
I have replaced the battery, a fuse and the car will not start in park. When I shift in to neutral the car will start.
