Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2014 - Rear Windows Won't Go Down
Sep 9, 2015
So the car is a 2014 hyundai hybrid limited I had all the door panels off cause i was upgrading all 4 door speakers putting everything back to gather and a few days later I went to roll the rear window down and neither one works the front to works but both back will not go down or the heated seats in the back wont work. I check all connections and the fuses and they all seem fine what else can be the problem....

Now that the weather has gotten very cold, I used the rear windshield defroster a couple of times this week. The smell that it emits is absolutely disgusting, I had to turn it off. The front defroster isn't much better. What could be causing it? Also the rear defroster, when working, defrosts the window in a "V" shape, meaning the center is clear but the sides and top/bottom are still frosted. I have a 2014 GLS.

Twice in the past few weeks my Sonata's windows were covered in moisture so bad I had to use paper towels on every window to be able to see out of it, even had to wipe up water dripping onto the dash board, took it back to the dealer and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. I purchased the car in April, now has 3,000 miles on it, I'm thinking that the change in the weather (cold nights) are why this has now shown up.

2011 Sonata SE
So I noticed some pretty extreme fogginess and internal condensation on my windows the past few days (spring has sprung, but we have had some colder days in SE Pennsylvania). Then after taking a bag out of my passenger side floor I noticed it was soaking wet. Couldn't figure it out until I saw that my passenger side carpet was soaked.
It can't be a leak from the windshield or above because only the bottom part of the bag that was touching the floor was soaked.
We did have a pretty rainy day about 2 days ago, and I did use my AC for the first time in a while as well in the past few days so not sure if it's an AC tube problem or seal and drainage problem somehow.

Had spilled little bit of gas in trunk, wiped it off and closed the trunk.
After opening the trunk next morning smell of gas in trunk and back seat of car
Left all car windows open 24 hours and trunk 6 hours, gas smell subsided 90%
While coming back from mall, while driving lowered both rear windows to maximum...as I was driving @ 50 MPH..Extremely annoying sound started coming from back windows area....it was unbearable annoying...so closed the windows and sound was gone.
Checked oil and it was full. What is this UFO sound with rear windows down.

Just took my 2014 F150 FX4 to the dealer for a rattle in the front and rear passenger side doors that rattle with the windows down . Sounds bad when you close the door. Dealer told me it was normal. So here I am with a 50,000 dollar truck with 5,000 miles on it and they say that's normal even tho the drivers side doors do not make this noise. Not really happy with FMC these days.

GF has a 2014 2.4 that suddenly stopped blinking the lights when you lock the doors. Car still honks and locks fine, just not blinking to confirm. Headlights, turn signals, etc. still work otherwise.

I've finally logged about 3000 miles into my 2014 Sonata. In the last few weeks of driving, I've noticed during stop and go traffic, that initial stepping on brake pedal decompresses kinda weird. It's almost like its too squishy on the initial few mm's of stepping on it. It seems to go away after pumping the brakes after i turn off the car. But it comes back randomly, sometimes on short drives, mostly noticeable in traffic where you brake more than usual.
I brought it to a hyundai dealership to get looked at initially but the service manager played with it and didn't notice anything out of ordinary so he did not request it to be serviced. But since it came back and starting to annoy me more and more.. i need to drop it off and have it looked at. I haven't even gotten my first oil change either.

Having issues regarding Moisture in the car... I have a 2014 Sonata SE and i live in Seattle and here most of the time is a rainy and my car is producing lot of moisture inside with in couple of minutes after drive or if i parked outside also. I am not Re-circulating the air and switching on the Air condition every time when ever fogged. But, today i have switched on the A/C for almost 5 minutes and put on Exhaust mode. Some how moisture is still inside the car. This problems i am seeing at the time of i bought the car. I have noticed most of cars are not fogged but do not know why the new Hyundai Sonata is pretty fogging.

I have a 2014 Sonota GLS purchased in February of this year. Kept all service dates and oil changes. Have a problem with engine noise? Not like low oil knocking or anything, just cheap engine loud?

2014 Sonata had issues with the driver and passenger seats only getting warm? We just bought the car and the seats never get hot. The seats are warmer when I get in the car at the end of the day than they are when the heated seats are turned on.

4400 miles on it. Over last few days the transmission started to slip. First gear engages fine, but the change to 2nd involves a rev....(with no acceleration) till it finally grabs.
Reverse into my garage up my slight incline of a drive does same. Slip rev....slip rev... No gear noises.
Tried to check fluid level...(that's what it sounded like to me) but sealed system.
Taking it in for warranty check/work.

I've been noticing sometimes that when you try to roll up the right rear window, it won't work. It goes down fine, but sometimes, the button won't make it go up. I'm not sure if it's just the rear switch or both the rear and the driver's switch.

I have been driving my 2014 Sonata GLS in Sport mode with no problem. However, two days ago the engine got extremely noisy. I checked the Comfort and Normal modes - definitely no scary noise. Is this common?

2 days ago, and again twice today, I have had an issue when I need to change lanes and speed up, but when I hit the gas pedal (not flooring it, but significant pressure) I have had the car jerk 3 times while the rpm needle goes up to 6. Then the rpm drops to 2, the acceleration finally kicks in, and a huge puff of grey smoke makes the cars behind me completely disappear.
I've read threads about the smoke with the acceleration, but no one mentioned the jerking and not wanting to actually accelerate at first.
There are 33,000 miles on my car.
I called the dealership and they said it only sounds like it's an issue that something in the engine needs to be cleaned out, and they want to charge me $200 if that's the case.
Should something need to be cleaned out at only 33,000 miles? (mind you I also just had the dealership tell me I didn't need my 30,000 mile tune up yet after doing an inspection).

My 2014 Sonata GLS has definite air conditioner problems. It takes some time for it to get cold. I had no problems with my 2011 Elantra - I never had to turn the air conditioner to its highest level. In addition, it cooled almost immediately. However, I have to turn on the Sonata's air conditioner to full capacity and wait several minutes before I get some cool air. When it's 95 degrees out here in Florida, a few minutes can seem like a long time.
Haven't had my car checked yet.

I have 2011 Sonata Ltd. As I cross over 60 mph, I hear a whinning sound from the rear wheels. I have 50K miles on it and is still under warranty. All 4 tyres were recently mounted and balanced by another dealer.
Dealer checked and said it is from tyres, but also said the tyres look good. Rotated the tyres but I am still getting sound from behind. At times it is quite loud.

I am looking to reduce the weight on my rear suspension. I have H&R springs and I rub on bumps. Fenders need to be rolled but the inside of the tire is being rubbed on the strut housing. My subwoofer box doesnt work for my situation either, saw a thread already about this but he was recommended coils. I rather not go that route. Ive already removed the rear seats(foldable part, bench is still there) ...

A week into owning my Sonata, I noticed the right tail light had become ajar, with the plastic fittings completely snapped off.
I had to take it to the dealership to get it serviced, whatever, problem solved. Right? Yesterday, the left tail light snapped off in the same way.
I have not been hit or gotten into any kind of accident for that matter. I got it serviced again today and asked if this was some kind of a defect in the car.
For both tail lights to snap off is really a mystery to me.

Sometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.

My wife has a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with about 75K miles and the rear parking lights will not turn off after I turn the car off and make sure all illumination is set to the off position. It completely drained her battery over night. I have done some research on here and think it is probably a relay in the engine compartment fuse box. Whenever I pull the STOP LP 15 Amp fuse (listed on page 7-57 in the manual) the lights finally turn off but that's obviously a temporary fix since I won't be able to convince my wife to do that every time she turns the car off.
