I have been driving my 2014 Sonata GLS in Sport mode with no problem. However, two days ago the engine got extremely noisy. I checked the Comfort and Normal modes - definitely no scary noise. Is this common?

View 11 RepliesWhen driving in Sport Mode I have a violent down shift as the car slows and heads into second gear from third. It doesn't seem to matter if I am going 40 miles an hour around town or 70 miles an hour coming off the freeway. There has been a few times where the jerk is so hard that seatbelt tensioner tightens. Is this a normal aggressive function of the sport setting, or is this something else? Perhaps related to the transmission valve/hard second gear shift issue?

View 10 RepliesI am feeling disappointed just came out of a lemon law suit with a kia optima I bought two years ago. I figured we'll I should buy a better brand this time which my brother recommended cause I was going to buy another Infiniti I always had good things with those cars. But the last 2 nights I have been hearing a squeaking noise in my rear end of my brand new IS 350 F Sport. Only in sport plus mode. I was driving home from work at 2 am and driving through a canyon road cause I want to see how this car does as soon as the road got a little bumpy I was hearing a squeaking noise come out of the rear of the car. Then I get home and I hear it going over my speed bumps in my complex of my condos. So I think we'll that's odd. I take it out of sport plus mode and back to eco and drive around the complex again and it goes away. Remind you I have 484 miles on the car.
View 3 RepliesSo i noticed, when in auto mode, whether sport mode is on or off, it does the same thing. If i floor it from a stand still, the transmission takes noticeably longer to go from 1st into 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. 1st to 2nd takes like a good second, kinda like this:
1st VROOOOM.....................2nd VROOOM..3rd VROOOM..4th.....etc..
If I drive it in manual mode, then it shifts just as fast. So this only happens in auto.
Just picked up a new 2014 rx fsport and 75% of the time I release the e-brake it has a loud clunk as if metal smashing metal. I tried releasing it really slow and it still does the same. The vehicle is parked on flat pavement. It is not a low click noise that I am used to but a loud clunk.
View 6 RepliesI purchased a 2011 Sonata about 6 weeks ago. I like almost everything about it, but the engine is very noisy. I'm not talking about a loud growl when you accelerate, but it's almost sounds like there are 2 frequencies sounding at once. It's higher pitched and at times sounds like pinging or clattering. It's very hard to explain. Unfortunately, sometimes it's worse than others and when I've taken it to the dealer, it's not at it's worst. The dealer I purchased it from told me that it was normal, even though I drove another 2011 on their lot that did not have the sound. Another dealer told me that it was a loud fuel pump because of the high pressure of the injectors and that Hyundai is aware and is working on a new "cover" that should muffle the sound. When I contacted Hyundai directly, they did not know of any new "cover" being developed . Assuming I've described it well enough to know... The only thing I know to do is wait for it to get consistently worse, and take it in again.

View 14 RepliesThe last few days I've noticed an extremely rough ride when in Normal Mode. In sport + mode I noticed a bit of a smoother ride where the bumps weren't as harsh. Which is the complete opposite of what's supposed to happen. My tire pressure is 36 and reaches 39-40 when hot. No clue why this is happening, should I be worried ? Should I lower the tire pressure a little maybe to much air is causing the harsh ride? Or should I reset the battery because my car is stuck in sport + mode when it should be normal.

I've had it for 4 days now, and I've never had a brand new car so maybe this is a moot point. But the car simply feels heavy and sluggish. I'm at a little over 300 miles and the car just doesn't have much zip compared to my 2010 IS. Also, when I had the clear bra done at Lexus they gave me an identical loaner (2016 IS300 AWD) with around 800 miles and it felt totally different.
I remember with my 2010 reading that the car has to "learn" how you drive, etc. With my 2016 it'll go from a dead stop, them a couple of shifts in it drops to a super low gear. Even in sport mode it feels sluggish. In ECO mode... Well, lets just say that feels laughable.
Why was my loaner (which was identical to my new car) much zippier in the normal mode? Is this something I should be concerned about? The car runs fine, just no zip (yet).
just bought a 2014 is 350 with f sport package. previously had 2011 is 250. i notice more engine noise, like a rumble or slight knocking at idle. service tells me this is normal for the 350 engine and the same engine in the new gs. My 250 was very quiet. the new is 350 is still quiet but there is discernible engine noise at idle.
View 14 RepliesI now have 1025 miles on my SE with the 2.4L. I will admit that I drove the car very easy during the first 800 miles. The car has always wanted to shift into higher gears way too quick even in normal mode. I was told that the computer may have been "trained" to be being a conservative driver. I am not a speed racer, but I do not drive like I have nowhere to go either. I have tried driving a little more aggressively (holding down the throttle and making it shift around 2500-3000 rpm when I can), but it still has not worked. When I make a certain turn and up a hill, the car chugs up the hill until it finally decides to downshift into a lower gear and it will finally go. If in sport mode, it does fine. I cannot leave in sport mode however because I do a lot of freeway driving and it will not shift into overdrive in sport mode, at least my car don't which I find odd??
Another problem area is when I first start out, I go up a grade on a highway. I have to literally press the pedal down about 3/4 way to even get it to speed (55 mph) within a reasonable amount of time... it was only around 2300-2500 rpm and I was almost flooring it. I pressed down the pedal more and it finally kicked into a lower gear and hit up to 3300 rpm and finally took off. Something is not right and I am not happy with my brand new car that I paid almost $19,000 for. I enjoy driving my 1991 Cadillac more than I do this new car and it is a heck of a lot faster than my Hyundai. I do love the MPG I get with the Hyundai... around 31 mpg on average versus 19 mpg on the Caddy.
I just don't know what is going on with my car. I am wondering if I need to get the computer reset or something?
I recently traded in my 2013 Audi TTRS in a very limited edition color. For my 2008 Lexus ISF... With 71k Miles. And I feel as if the car is very sluggish and up shifts are slow even with sport mode on! My buddy has an ISF as well and he even said mine shifts slower than his. I was wondering if maybe the previous owner skipped a few key maintainence things to cause such an issue. And yes I know how to drive a care, yes it's in sport mode and yes the vehicle is warmed prior to stupidity. The last recorded maintenance was at 60K miles.
View 14 RepliesRecently I started driving on eco mode to have the smoothest ride/acceleration. However, yesterday I wanted to get my dose of sport mode and WOT, so I switched to sport mode and stepped on the gas and during a small curve I felt the car steering is stiffer than usual, so I thought it could be due to speed. After that I reduced my speed and tried switching between sport and eco back to back and the sport mode steering actually is stiffer and more responsive! . I was surprised because my car is not the F sport, it is the normal is350 with tech package, and Lexus didn't mention this when describing the sport mode.
View 14 RepliesSo, when the 2008 Sonata Limited (4cyl) was started yesterday, the + sign by the shifter lit up (first time ever since we had never used Sport mode). The car was indeed in Sport mode and wouldn't come out of it regardless of how you moved the shifter or to which gate, etc.
Took the car to a local well-regarded auto shop today and they said when they started it up it was not in Sport mode and worked correctly. I picked it up and sure enough, the plus sign was off and the car was in normal auto mode. On the way home, the + sign lit up again and yes, it went into Sport mode again and won't come out.
Btw, this Sonata has 68K miles and has already had two full brake jobs. It has nothing to do with this issue.
Experience a grinding noise at around 1500-1800 rpm when driving?
The noise sounds like the 2nd gen valve spring start up but not as loud.
The dealer was able to replicate the noise on my car but they don't know what is causing it.
They called the regional guy to come look at it but he doesn't have a clue where or what is causing the noise.

Noise starts at around 10K-15k miles and dealer couldn't replicate it then but I hear it everyday.

Have a 13 Sonata Limited 2.0t and for some reason it won't start.
Also brake pedal is extremely stiff. Tried to push start button several times while pressing brake, and dash lights just blink several times.
When I hit bumps, yank to the left, or go above a certain speed my steering wheel will start shaking and a loud clicking noise happens.
