I've had this issue 2 times already but I usually just turn off the car and power it back up.
When I first turn on the car the P doesn't show up in the indicator to show what gear im in and I'm unable to come out of Park with the break pedal depressed all the way down, (break pedal became stiff) turner off and turned the car back on and same thing....

View 6 RepliesThe past couple of weeks I have noticed my car is hard to shift out of park when I first start it after a few hours. After I get it out of park it is good until the next time I let it cool off for a little bit. It will sometime thump too when I shift to reverse no matter if im on an incline to parked flat. I have changed the transmission fluid twice and I have 60k on it so I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Also, is this something that could cause serious damage because if it isn't I don't really care about it but if it does I would like to fix it.
View 4 RepliesMy mom has a 2016 Sonata that recently has started experiencing some issues with the gear shift. A few weeks back my stepdad was not able to get the gear shift to move out of park. Finally, my step brother did get it to go into drive, but then could not get back into park (he could only get into neutral), so my mom took it to have it looked at. While at the dealer someone there was able to get the gear shift to work and we thought everything was okay. That was until today when my stepdad could not get it out of park again. I noticed today that button on the shift knob was fully depressed while in park. I did attempt to use the shift lock release per the instructions in the manual with no luck.
My mom is going to call Hyundai in the morning to see what they can do for her, as the car is parked at minimart right now.
I've had this ongoing issue where unless I first shift car from park to neutral and back again, the push button start will not work. After I do this car starts up fine every time.
View 1 RepliesI have an issue with the transmission not allowing me to shift from Park if I drive for couples of minutes unless I re-start the car. Also, if I drive for couples of minutes while I'm putting the cruise control on Standby mode or ON, it will shut off by itself along with the light for the economy driving mode.And again if I re-start the car everything will work.

I've got my 2013 sonata and have noticed over the past couple weeks that after the car has sat for a while and I shift out of park that it makes a thunk/shifting sound that's coming from right below the car. I think it's coming from the gear shaft but I'm not a car expert so I can't be sure, it's more prevalent when I shift into reverse. What it could be? The car is still completely under warranty so I'm fine with making it the dealer's problem.
View 6 RepliesI've noticed that when I've driven, park the car in the garage, turn off the engine, trans in park, a loud popping sound coming from the transmission (?) It sounds as if the car is clicking, popping into gear, although it's in Park. The garage is level and the car is not being moved in any kind of way. I sometimes sit in the car to finish a song or a phone call and I noticed this yesterday.

I read through all of the past articles relating to my issue with no luck of resolution.
When the car is turned off, the steering wheel never locks. Even when I rock the steering wheel left and right it never locks.
Can't find out how to remove the driver side front bumper grille. I could not see any screws or tabs holding it in. I'm hoping it can be removed without taking off the entire front bumper.

View 2 Replies2002 ford explorer XLT. Here is a pic of the issue. have a broken right front sway bar link that has broken on the top however the bottom is still attached. I am unable to remove it. The top portion is gone and I am unable to grip what is left enough to loosen the bottom bolt. I have tried pliers as well as vice grips to keep it from spinning as I loosen the bottom bolt. Nothing has worked. The outside plastic OEM piece is stuck in there so well I am unable to break that loose either. I have sprayed PB blaster hoping to loosen things up but here I am writing this.

View 4 RepliesMy car was running fine. I drove it 2-3 miles city & freeway a week ago to make sure. I was going to lend it to a friend and handed him the keys at a different location. When I got home he showed me that he was unable to move the car out of Park. I got in and the motor started fine. I checked and the battery was showing at the normal level,but I too could not budge the car out of Park. That was a few days ago.
Today I went out to start the car up and to my surprise, the battery is completely drained. The battery is only about 17 months old. I previously had had the motor rebuilt a couple of years ago and the car hasn't been driven but 2-3 thousand miles since.
What the problem may be? What kind of mechanic should look at it? (the friend admitted to pushing buttons but since I wasn't there I don't know if that was before he tried to move out of Park or after).
