Is it normal for the rear defroster to only defrost the middle of the window. The top and bottom don't defrost. Does this have to do with the antenna?

As soon as I turn off the defroster, the reception comes back to normal. This is on a '09 Sonata limited - this did not happen on my previous '08 Azera and '06 Sonata LX...
View 5 RepliesMy rear defroster on my sliding glass window doesn't work all the time. I make sure the window is completely closed. It sometimes comes on and other times it doesn't. Sometimes it comes on and immediately shuts off. The dealership says I will need a new window. The truck is 7 months out of warranty. I think a $52,000 truck should have a rear defroster that works a heck of a lot longer than 43 months, especially when it has only been used 3 times since I bought it. Is this a problem that any of you have experienced with you F-150's ? I love my truck and will live with the rear defroster not working before I replace it. I just feel that Ford should have better quality than that.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited. The rear defroster light on the dash does not light up. The rear window defroster DOES work, but the light does not light up. I took it to the Hyundai dealer and they ordered and replaced some module. They saw the light still did not light up. The service manager said she called other dealers and discovered that none of the 2012 Sonata rear defroster lights lit up, so concluded it was supposed to be that way.
View 4 RepliesNow that the weather has gotten very cold, I used the rear windshield defroster a couple of times this week. The smell that it emits is absolutely disgusting, I had to turn it off. The front defroster isn't much better. What could be causing it? Also the rear defroster, when working, defrosts the window in a "V" shape, meaning the center is clear but the sides and top/bottom are still frosted. I have a 2014 GLS.
View 21 RepliesI was driving to work but Sonata stop in the middle of the road acting like ran out of Gasoline. But the fuel gauge showed 1/4. I was tried to crank few more times but didn't start. Called road side assistant, tow truck took it to nearest Hyundai dealer. After they inspect, your fuel gauge sensor is wrong, fuel tank is empty.
My 2013 sonata is showing 61500 miles on it. They asked me $450 to replacing the sensor because bumper to bumper warranty covers up to 60,000 miles.
I decide to fix it later, put little bit of gas and than fueled up all the way to the top at nearest gasoline station. Fuel gauge works again, it is now showing full tank. I do not know how long it will last but it is scary.
When driving my 2013 Sonata with the rear windows open the deck below the back window starts vibrating horribly. You can actually see it moving up and down. If I also have the stereo on the vibrations distort the sound something awful. Close the window and the vibration goes away. Is it a defect, and is there a quick fix? Only problem with the car so far.
View 2 RepliesI've been noticing sometimes that when you try to roll up the right rear window, it won't work. It goes down fine, but sometimes, the button won't make it go up. I'm not sure if it's just the rear switch or both the rear and the driver's switch.
View 5 RepliesOn both my front windshield as well as my rear window I see small shiny speckles in the glass when the sun is shining thru the glass particularly in early morning and later in the day when the sun angle is low. At first I thought it was tree sap but a thorough cleaning did nothing to improve it. So I used a claybar on the window thinking it may be some other type of contaminant and that did nothing either. The speckles are still there. I have not tried polishing the windshield and rear window.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2011 sonata and the rear window film is bubbling/peeling off the window to the point where it is hard to see through. The car is a month passed the warranty. I can't tell if this film is part of the defroster grid, or something separate that can be peeled off easily and replaced, or if I need a new window.
View 16 RepliesWas out cleaning my windows today, and had the key turned to the accessory position so I could lower and raise the windows while I cleaned them. The passenger side rear window wouldn't lower (either from the switch on the passenger door itself, or the switch on the master panel on the driver's door.) The other 3 windows worked just fine. I immediately started planning on when I could get the car to the dealer
On a lark, I started the car to see if that made a difference and the passenger side rear window worked just fine. I then shut off the car, put the key back to the accessory position, and the window continued to work just fine.
I've a got a 2006 sebring convertible. I replaced the rear window defrost tab 2 years ago & it has come un-stuck again. The dealership has tried adhering it 3X and after the 24 hour cure time, as soon as I turn on the defroster, the tab comes off the window. Dealership is telling me to replace the ENTIRE rear window!
View 5 RepliesSo the rear defroster tab has popped off the window. I purchased this kit from O'Reillys but when I clipped the wire back onto the tab it popped the tab right back off. I even waited 48 hours instead of 24 so it had plenty of time to set, even with the cooler temperatures. Okay, so I forgot about it until I took the stroller out and noticed the trim laying in the back of the X... but still, plenty of time to bond well. I'm thinking of calling a glass shop & seeing what they'll charge to reattach.

The fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side doesn't have it marked and the local dealer can't tell me where it is either. They want me to bring it in, of course! Exactly where this fuse is located?

So for a while now I have noticed that I often have a great deal of static on my radio during my ride to work. I was stumped because it only happened occasionally and affected every channel, AM and FM. Today I discovered what was changing to cause the static. Whenever I have the rear window defroster on, there is static on the radio. Turning the rear defroster off, stops the static immediately. I have checked all other electric devices in conjunction with the radio, and it is only caused by the defroster. My understanding is that the antenna is built into the rear window, so the cause and effect seems obvious.
2005 Excursion..... When the switch is pushed, the relay clicks. The light on the switch does NOT come on.
I have switched relays for testing. The fuse is good. The truck has heated mirrors. Are they related to the rear glass issue?
Bought this in June. No winter use yet. Is a freezing temperature required for operation?

My rear window defroster does not work. I have no power to the switch. on the reply I do have power to terminal 30 on the relay. If I use a jumper wire between 30 and 87 it works. I think the problem is terminal 86 should have power when thever key is in run position but it doesn't. I have the factory wiring diagram book but am at a loss. It seems to me it is more of a mechanical connection inside the junction box but there are other components on the circuit that work.
A couple of days ago I noticed that one of the elements in the upper rear window defogger/defroster isn't working. It's the fifth one from the bottom I believe. All the other elements on the top and bottom seem to be working correctly. Is there a way to correct this without taking it to the dealer?

I had them look at when it was in for other warranty work and the dealership says it is not covered by the ESP. I looked up the ESP and it states that it covers heated back glass(electrical only). The dealership says it is considered glass and it isn't covered. If it was the outer sides of the back window it wouldn't bother me, but it is the center piece.
I had it looked at a while back when the truck was in for different warranty work and they supposedly fixed it, it was never fixed but I just thought I would get it fixed next time I was in there instead of just going in for that. Last time I was there I was under the 60K mile warranty and it is covered under that, but not the ESP supposedly. Bad dealership or just live with it?
I have a 2014 sonata gls with about 20K miles (have only owned it for about 3K miles) and have noticed that no matter what position the selector switch is in, the air only comes out of the defroster vents. None through floor vents, nor front vents... just the defroster. What i should check or do?
