Looking for pictorial descriptions / videos on how to replace the CV axles on 2011-14 Sonata 2.4? Mine starts developing clicking noise under tight turns about 10k miles ago but the boots are absolutely fine. I just hope to buy some time on it before I can confidently replace those axles myself as I only have limited cash.
View 3 RepliesMy wife has a 2013 Santa Fe. When she turns off her vehicle, her radio stays on until you open the door. To be honest that is how it works in most cars I have been in.
However it seems like in the Sonata 2013 it just turns off all together. Is this normal? Is there a feature to make it stay on until the door is opened?
I have a '11 GLS sonata, 56000kms ... Over the last few weeks I've noticed a 'vibration' rubbing sound while I'm making a right turn at med speeds or higher. I thought I heard it on the left side but not sure. Only notice the sound while turning.
View 2 RepliesI purchased a 2011 Sonata Limited Edition TODAY. It was a lucky find as the car has less than 30k miles. As I was driving home (back roads and interstate), I heard a clicking noise every time I hit the brakes. I do not hear this noise when I back up and brake, only when the car is in drive and I am braking.

View 2 RepliesOK, I recently noticed a fairly loud clicking noise coming from the transmission (or the gear lever?) when you hit the brakes and again when you release them (only when at or near standstill). I'm pretty sure that it's the lock for the transmission so you can't start it without hitting the brake, etc., but I never heard it before. Should it be that loud? At first I thought it was my CD's in the console hitting the side when I was braking, but realized it does it when standing still and you can feel it in the shift lever. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I've never noticed this in any other car.
View 20 RepliesRight this clicking noise is really annoying me now, every time AFTER i brake i hear this click, the faster i stop the louder the click is, also when I am in neutral and suddenly rev its clicks sometimes but rarely, I am thinking it could be a loose exhaust somewhere? Its definitely coming from under my foot area. When I brake cornering it clicks too. Checked my control arms and everything, that's not rattling at all? Need to get rid of this click sound!!
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata SE that I really like but it has a very loud clicking noise that comes from under the car. The dealer says that it is probably the cat converter expanding. I have contacted the Hyundai customer care and they say that this is normal.
View 13 RepliesMy husband and I almost bought a used 14 sonata SE last night, but it was contingent on the dealer fixing the clicking or pinging noise going on under the passenger front door. It was going on during the test drive and continued after the car was turned off. The car has 7,000 miles on it. So the dealer took it to a hyundai dealer this morning to have it repaired under warranty, and the hyundai dealer said its a normal new car noise and will work itself out with time - but there's nothing to repair.
I'm aware that sometimes exhaust systems or heat shields ping a few times when the car is turned off? Did it eventually stop? And when? It really is annoying. I'd like to get this car, but he refuses to buy it if it's making this noise.
I purchased a brand new 2014 Sonata Limited 2 months ago and took it to the local dealer last night for two issues.
The first issue was small rust spots on the sillplate and the second is a very slight clicking noise I hear from the engine compartment now when I turn the temperature dial.
The dealer just called and said that the clicking is "normal". The car didn't do it for the first two months.
So about a month ago my 2013 Sonata GLS started to make some clunking noise going over the littlest bumps over the road from the front end on both right and left side.
I brought it to one mechanic and they said the rack and pinion needs replacing which is an expensive fix. I couldn't believe that was the problem as I had no leaks and it was on their solid. I ended up taking it to my uncles mechanic and he stated its the stabilizer links on the front right and front left wheels. My way to work has a lot of bad pot holes... so I'm hoping that the stabilizers are actually the problem.
Anyways, tomorrow I will be bringing it to the mechanic to have them both changed. I know a lot have been complaining about this issue and instead of replacing the rack and pinion, I thought I'd try and see if it actually is the stabilizer links and provide a fix for some of the sonata owners on here.
When going down the road I notice a rattle noise coming from the steering column area. I took it to the dealer a week or so after noticing it. I purchased the car brand new and like I said I took it to the dealer a week after purchasing it and they said they could not find anything and said they zip tied the brake lines or some bs hoping that would solve my problem.
It is now kind of obvious and I am going to take it back in to another dealership that has a better reputation.

Heard wicked vibration from front of car (almost like I hit something and it jammed under car) pulled over to realize sound was still there when stopped. after a few seconds realized it was the fan running (on setting 4) now a couple days later sound isn't as bad but still vibrating, doesn't matter where it's blowing (feet, chest, windshield). I bought sonata 20 months ago and has just under 23000 miles...

View 1 RepliesMy 2013 Sonata GLS has a noise that is in the rear of the vehicle going down the road. I rotated tires from back to front and noise seemed to move to front. I moved them back to rear so noise would be behind me. This told me the noise must be the tires or wheels. The tires are a long way from being worn out so I keep running them. I have the stock alloy wheels but previous owner put 225/40R18 tires on car. Tires size on door jam label says tire size on this GLS is supposed to be 225/45R18.
Could it be the wheels and not the tires? Another possibility could be factory lug nuts on back wheels. I read in my street rod magazine that lug taper length must be shorter than the taper length on wheel lug holes. Lugs cannot be so long that lugs hit the wheel backplate leaving the wheels slightly loose and not centered leaving a slight tire wobble when driving. The article says the lug taper much be shorter than the taper in the wheels in order to snug the nuts. I did not switch the lugs when rotating tires to front. If this is the problem rather than tires or wheels, Hyundai had a lug supplier problem.
New Sonata GL owner. Just picked it up last week and I love the car. Great drive, great features. Only thing is I am noticing that there's a humming noise from the engine whenever I accelerate and when the car decelerates. It's not really noticeable during the day when the streets are busy and I'm listening to the radio etc., but at night when I'm driving on quiet streets its quite audible and it almost sounds like Diesel engine.
I read a few threads on this and people have attributed it to the direct fuel injection - is this humming sound normal? Do all sonatas sound like this? Or should I go back to the dealership and get it checked out?
I just bought a 2013 Sonata. There is a whistling noise from the passenger side vent closest to the door that appears at about 70 mph when in MaxAC mode. It is high pitched like a venturi. It goes away when switched out of MaxAC mode or when the speed drops below 70. I am guessing that it has something to do with the outside air being squeezed off.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata with the NAV package, and this morning when I started the car I found that I have no sound coming from my speakers. Stereo powers up just fine, all controls including nav and bluetooth seem to be functioning perfectly, and yet I am getting no audio.
View 63 RepliesI drive a 2004 Volvo v70 (non turbo). It died on me about 3 times in 5 years on tight turns ((switchback). It hadn't happened for a couple of years but now it has stopped 3 times in the last couple of months. It is very dangerous as the steering stops working and I have to totally stop, put my car in park and restart.
View 2 RepliesOn my 2013 GLS i went to adjust the column back to me as my girlfriend drove on saturday night (octoberfest ) and as i pulled it back out the car shut off. i pushed it back in a little and the car started fine and has until i tested the issue again this morning when i got to work. i moved it about half way out and the radio shutoff. moved it a little more and the whole car shut off. it will not start until i push it back in some.
I am thinking that a cannon plug or something is either too short or routed wrong or something to that effect as i have the ignition on the column instead of the push button.
So...the trunk light will never turn off if the trunk is open? Just wondering, since a bottle of Shiner Bock broke in my trunk and i want to air it out. Yeah i don't feel like removing the bulb, i just wanted to know if there is a time limit or disable feature somehow.
