Having suspensions creaking sounds coming from the back left/right side? A friend of mine has the sonata too but is having the sound coming from the left, mine is on the right.

There is a loud groaning/creaking noise coming from the front suspension area. At low speeds, this noise dominates all other noises and is directly related to hitting the gas or pressing the brakes, which produces a forward or backward force on the front suspension and chassis. I can sometimes hear it briefly just by pushing against the parked car.
My hope is that I can just tighten up some bolts and make this go away, but other posts suggest it may be struts, stabilizer links or other non-obvious sources.
2006 Sonata 2.4 GLS. My car has done 60000 miles and has developed a creaking/knocking (metal on metal clunk) sound at the left rear. it is only noticeable at low speeds when accelerating and decelerating in stop start traffic.
It is not the shock as I have removed the shock and driven the car and the noise is still there, I have also looked at all the bushes and nothing is obvious. I have also checked tightness of all bolts/nuts.
Sometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.
I owe a GTI autobahn 2015! I have problems with the front suspension (left side) sounds like is all loose, took the car to the dealer all they did is tight a bolt that is part of it! Problem still remain!!
When going over speed bumps and pot holes the front suspensions hit very hard like the shocks are not doing their job property!! This is causing the body of the car to start coming loose! I can hear some noises like an old car!!
Is normal or they need to be replaced,, i always drive in sport mode!!
I've got a 2012 Hyundai Sonata LTD and have been loving it for the past year (bought it certified pre-owned last February). I've noticed, however, that there is a clicking coming from the passenger-side AC vent or general passenger-side dashboard area. It seems to be somewhat tied to whether I have the air recirculation (outside air) button turned on or not. I typically use my front defrost a lot, which, when enabled, shuts of the air recirculation button. This seems to encourage the clicking sound, whereas if I turn on the air recirculation, the clicking eventually goes away after the car warms up and after ~10 minutes.
From my internet research, it would seem that other types of cars have reported a similar issue and it's been attributed to either a bad actuator or something called recirculation failure. I have pushed the back windshield, and haven't gotten a peep anywhere, so it's not that. It's coming from the outside, because it is so much louder driving slower with the windows down. It appears to be coming from the rear left of the car. It's a definite "creak," and not a "thunk." Sounds like creepy stairs being walked over repeatedly...I haven't investigated hard enough to really pin point the direct spot, but it would sound to me like it has something to do with the suspension in the back left. However, it's not any more prominent when I hit a bump than it is just accelerating or decelerating, so that also leads me away from it being a suspension issue. I know I should look further into it to locate the spot.

On mine a few months back I started getting a creaking noise on the right side when I pull into my drive way, The dealer looked at it and said it would have to go to their body shop to re do some welds...
View 21 RepliesMy wife has been complaining of sounds that are almost musical in nature coming from the dashboard area of the car. She said the sounds occur periodically and are a Duh-Duh-Duh type of sound that is almost musical. She says she can't tell exactly where the sound is coming from. It is almost like some kind if warning sound and just last occurred as she pulling into our driveway a few minutes ago. She said the MPG box in the center was pulsing in sequence with the sounds.
I have never had this happen to me to me. Taking this too a dealer would, most likely be futile, unless the problem could be replicated while at the dealer. She listens to Satellite Radio and I do not. Could this be of any consideration?
I have this noticeable creaking noise that pops up every now and then on the front passenger side of the car. Problem is it is hard to replicate to the dealer. I usually notice it going over dips at some times, and most when I make a right turn into a raised road. Otherwise, not a peep out of the car.
View 19 RepliesDeveloped a very annoying plastic creek/ tapping sounds from the passenger side C pillar. Almost sounds like it coming from between the c pillar and the rear window, but can't be sure. It's definitely trim related and not suspension. Also how difficult it would it be to remove the C pillar Plastic cover?
Lastly, how many have had success in getting rattles/ squeaks worked out after the 1 year adjustment warranty? I did mention that on a service visit when it showed up right before the warranty expired, but it was very warm that day and the rattle went away.
ok, its been 9-10 months now, and i have only 3500 miles on my gx.just looked at the back wheel wells.
The left side of the truck in the back is sitting about 1.5 inchs higher than the right rear? I measured the distance between the rims and the edge of the panel in the back. I am baffled. I raised it, lowered it, and still unequal height. Its going to the dealer on wednesday.
I got my Sonata at 27k, its now at 76k and the cars been great although I had the following issues.
I've noticed sometimes when I startup and shift into reverse the car jerks a bit and its not a smooth transition. However other times the car is very fluid in switching gears. Should I take it in to have a look at it?
Also when I am turning onto a unleveled road (usually a higher road), I notice a creaking/knocking noise coming from the front of the car, also notice it when I reverse into a parking space sometimes.
After I heard this sound thats sounds like a light knock coming from the left side of the car both front and back, i went to check it out.
Toyota Dealership mechanic : Definitely strut mount
2nd check from private mechanic : Definitely sway bar links (he wanted to change all four and sell me new llinks for $100 a pair.)
3rd check from sears service : Sounds like sway bar links, but it might be the struts, I cant say. I dont think its the mounts though(i asked of course). He checks sway bar links and says he doesnt notice any thing different from the ordinary, he thinks its tight. (but also thinks its possible its the problem). Basically left me more confused that i was.

Now basically its a judgement call, but i'm planning on changing the RSB and replacing with UR RSB, so i might as well change those links.
I bought this car about three months ago. And got alignment done twice. Thought may be first time he didn't do properly. After alignment second time, having same issue.
Car pulls to left. I have to keep steering wheel pulling to the right all the time. When I leave it. It slightly turns to left. And car starts going to left.
But in even roads it turns to left. Where some roads are tilting to right. Steering wheel turns to left as usual. But car goes straight. If I take my foot of the accelerator it does less. But when I accelerate or have cruise control ON on freeway it does this more.
From home to destination my hand always pulling steering wheel to right. I have also rotated the tyres. Alignment is done twice. What can be the problem.
So I started hearing these random squeaking noises coming from the front suspension its what it sounds like. This only happens thou when i drive up into a drive way that is slanted. Or any kind of slow making slanted turns (~5-10mph)
I'm not 100% positive but it sounds like the suspension because it only makes noise when the car moves a little when ever i go up a drive way.
I got a brand new 2011 Mazda 3 i Sport 4 door sedan in May and it's been great so far. Lately though, I have started to hear a sound coming from the back left hand side of the car. It really closely resembles the sound of tapping one's finger on a counter top. When I'm stopped, there's no noise but when I go I can hear it. As I go faster it goes faster as well and when I slow down it slows down. What is going on?
View 2 RepliesI have a 1997 Impreza wagon, 168K miles. There is a creaking noise from left lower suspension. Mechanic lubricated lower control arm bushings and front sway bar links. That lasted about 1/2 mile. It seems to go away when the temperature is high 70's or higher. Steering, etc., seem unaffected. When will this become fatal, if at all?

After opening the trunk next morning smell of gas in trunk and back seat of car
Left all car windows open 24 hours and trunk 6 hours,gas smell subsided 90%
While coming back from mall, while driving lowered both rear windows to maximum...as I was driving @ 50 MPH..Extremely annoying sound started coming from back windows area....it was unbearable annoying...so closed the windows and sound was gone.
Checked oil and it was full. What is this UFO sound with rear windows down.
I just have a couple questions. First one I have a creaking in my front suspension when I go over bumps if I'm doing 50+mph it isn't heard anything slower you can hear it especially over speed bumps in parking lots. What could that be exactly? And also I'm looking to upgrade my headunit already got a single din but I'm wanting to replace the factory subwoofer. Can I replace it with a low power 8" aftermarket sub for better sound?
View 7 RepliesI just purchased my first VW, a 2012 Tiguan SE in Night Blue Metallic. The level of fit and finish, handling, and general feel are miles ahead of my old '04 Jeep Liberty.
Anyway, I've had the car for about 250 miles and have noticed a clunking/rattling noise coming from what sounds like the front passenger side suspension arm. The noise is fairly quiet but seems to consistently happen when turning left over uneven pavement.
I plan on taking it to the dealer this weekend and it is only a minor annoyance, but a shame since the rest of the vehicle is so quiet and refined.
