On my limited sometimes when I am driving randomly and a car is in front of me but not far up my collision warning signal goes off.
It's only happened about 4-5 times and I am not sure what sets it off or how it even really works?
Have any of you noticed the collision warning popping up on the dash while driving? The first couple of times I missed what was popping up since I was busy driving and not getting into a collision. The last time, however, I did notice. A car was making a right turn up ahead and had almost stopped in the lane..
View 17 RepliesI have been using ACC a lot during my daily commute, it's really an effortless way to drive the car on a daily basis.
One of the issues I have been running into with it is that sometimes when the car in front (recognized by radar) accelerates and immediately decelerates to a quick stop my Sonata's ACC does not react and apply the brakes fast enough. The car will basically apply some braking power (~50%) while very quickly approaching the car in front, all the while triggering the rapid beeping of the Collision Detection system. Everytime this happens I have always had to manually intervene and apply the necessary braking power to stop short of hitting the car in front. This is pretty ridiculous to me since if the car KNOWS that it will crash without additional braking, and has the ability to apply the brakes, why doesn't it do so properly?
How do I turn up volume on this very important safety feature that i can barely hear. It's ridiculously low and the dumb ding dong I'm home nav notification blows my ears away.
View 21 RepliesAs I am driving the steering wheel will randomly lock for about 2 seconds. It has happened while changing lanes on the highway, also happening while making turns in intersections. Took it in to the dealer, all they did was clear the code and give it back to me. I have notified Hyundai Customer Care and they are supposed to contact me but right now the car is unsafe to drive.
View 50 RepliesWe have a 2015 Sonata 2.4 Sport that has developed an intermittent turn signal problem. When the left turn signal is turned on, the right signal will blink. When the right signal is turned on, nothing blinks. A new symptom that recently started is sometimes neither turn signal will turn on regardless of the position of the turn signal stalk. I managed to get the car to dealer #1 while the LEFT=RIGHT & RIGHT=NOTHING issue was happening but while troubleshooting it, they ran across an inactivated aftermarket alarm system that dealer #2 that sold me the car had installed. I guess the alarm they install is so cheap, it's not even worth removing if they are unsuccessful in upselling you at the time of purchase.
Since dealer #1 would not troubleshoot any further unless the alarm was removed, I retrieved the car and took it back to the original dealer #2 I bought it from. They removed the alarm and the turn signals started working again, however, this lasted about 2 weeks before the symptoms returned. I booked an appointment at the dealer #1 to bring the car in & half way during the drive there, the turn signals started working again. With nothing to show them, I didn't drop off the car. Now the problem is back. Since it tends to come and go, I have try and time when I can drop the car off so it's happening when they get it.
I have a hearing disability called Hyperacusis. if its possible or knows how to disable the turn signal sound as it causes me physical pain in my ears. Its for a 2016 model.

View 4 RepliesRecently a strange problem has started occurring with my car's radio (I've had the car for about 3 weeks). I usually listen to SiriusXM. When I start the car, it'll stay on SiriusXM for about 5 seconds or so and then sometimes it will randomly switch to either AM or FM radio on its own and I have to manually switch it back. I don't think it's a loss of signal issue as the radio will play SiriusXM just fine before it jumps to another band.
View 65 RepliesI am having issues with 2015 sonata sport. My car alarm has been going off randomly as well as lights flashing/beeping as if I was pushing lock button on key fob. I am not pushing any buttons and sometimes it will happen when The key fob is in my hand and I know I'm not pressing any buttons. When it does happen the little red light will flash on the key fob. I've tried using other key fob and have same issues with both. Also I have had to change the battery in both key fobs about 8 times thus far and I've only had the car a little over a year.
It does not happen all the time and I know if I take it in, my luck the car wont do it and they will tell me they don't see anything wrong. Sometimes the buttons wont work to unlock/lock the car and after a few minutes the car will beep and lights flash on their own and I will be able to then lock/unlock car again. This is getting very frustrating and it has become an annoyance for me and I'm sure my neighbors as well. I even will have people I work with come in and tell me my alarm is going off during my work shift.
So the past week I've noticed that on occasion my dash lights will get really dim then randomly come back to full on (to where I have it set at.). Is this normal?
View 6 RepliesAbout two months after I lowered my TCH I started getting a warning that my Pre-Collision System was malfunctioning.
I brought it into the dealer to have them investigate the issue, and after having my car for three days they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the system, and it's probably because I modified the ride height of my car.
The question that immediately came to mind was, why did it take two months for the error message to pop up? Why not right away? They didn't have an answer and just said, "If it's modified we can't do any warranty work, and can't say for sure what's causing the issue."
So I've adjusted the ride height back to stock and now I just need to take it back to the dealer to have them look at it again. If it really is the modified ride height, can i re-calibrate the sensors?
A yellow triangle with exclamation mark illuminated on my dash. Pg 3-100 of the manual has a picture of the light, and the description calls it the "master warning light" and continues: "This indicator light illuminates When there is a malfunction on the low washer, Smart cruise control, and so on. To identify the details of the warning, look at the LCD display." Later in the manual there are examples of the light going off together with LCD messages, so I know that's what this light is called.
There is no message on my LCD display. When I first bought the car, I set the car to remind me at 5000 miles about getting my oil changed (I drive mostly highway, long trips etc.) For the last week, the car's LCD has been reminding me that i'm due for service in X miles. Today, I hit 5000 and the messages stopped. Around 5050 miles on the clock, the yellow triangle warning light went off, with no explanation on the LCD.
Bluelink diagnostics also reports no errors. Is it just the oil change interval that I set and passed?
I got the Battery discharge warning massage today, I was listening to xm in the car for about 5 minutes on engine set to ACC and the Battery discharge warning massage came on and tells me to run system while the engine is running. Am I not suppose to be on ACC if I just want to listen to music?
View 17 RepliesThe airbag warning light came on last week and stayed on for my hour commute home. Later on that same evening, I took the car out again, and the light was off. Stayed off for about 3 or 4 days and now comes on intermittently. I called the dealership today to try and set something up, and they said if if it's coming on intermittently, check under the seat for anything obstructing the airbag sensor and whatnot. I looked today and found nothing (I keep my car extremely clean) but none the less found no issue. The service advisor from the dealership also said that I need not bring it in unless the light stays on all the time. But I'm insisting on bringing it in in the next few days. I'm just concerned that either the airbags may inflate without cause, or may not inflate in the event of an accident. Should I wait until the light stays on? Going into the service department at my local dealer is always at least a 2 hour ordeal and they don't issue loaner vehicles unless they absolutely have to. I just don't want to waste my time.

View 10 RepliesExperienced an incredible failure this morning when I went out to start my 2015 2.0t Ultimate. Foot on brake, press start. Engine starts and the car icon in the middle of the instruments shows the system scan. Scan completes and all warning lights stay on. The LCD panel starts to report system after system has failed ... SCC, EPB, FCW, RPD, LDW, a veritable alphabet soup of abbreviations. Put car in gear and pulled out of space to see if that would have any effect. Turning wheel very heavy as if power steering has failed. No effect from moving a few feet. Couldn't get back directly to my parking spot so carefully around the block to get back to my space. Rear view camera came on when in Reverse but it remained on after shifting into Drive.
Back into park. Turned off engine. Tried to restart. No dice, won't even go through the start cycle. just all the warning lights on and LDW Failure on the LCD panel. Arranged a tow to the dealer and when the tow truck arrived we discovered the Electronic Parking Brake had automatically engaged even though I intentionally had left it off and there was no way to release it. Battery appears to have plenty of power so unlikely it is a low battery issue ... the two times it did start it turned over without hesitation. It's behaving as if the computer has been totally scrambled. There used to be a joke around that if Microsoft made cars, all the instruments and warning lights would be replaced by a single big red light in the middle of the dash reading "General Vehicle Fault" and it seems like that's what mine is telling me.
I recently inherited an s10 that works fine but has a very quirky condition. The engine will stop randomly with no warning while driving down the road after turning off the ignition, wait a minute or two, turn it back on and it works fine for a few more days or couple of weeks, but has been driving me crazy, and isn't very safe The check engine light is on and the code read a bad crank sensor, so I got that replaced, and it didn't fix the issue so the mechanic said that the next step would be to replace the ignition module with the ignition coils.

Variable-Displacement Compressor (no clutch, anyway, so that's what I'm assuming)
Is it OKAY to drive the car without refrigerant to circulate lubricating oil, or am I going to be looking at a new compressor in a few years?
A week ago, a grasshopper put a hole in the condenser. Yes, a friggen BUG, complete with bug guts and wings stuck around the tiny dent and pinhole. I'm arguing with Hyundai over the warranty coverage, they say "outside forces" and I'm saying "defective part or crappy engineering"...
The dealer's service writer said there would be no problem driving the car while we wait for parts, as long as we didn't turn the AC on. Okay, it's not summer anymore, but doesn't the compressor want to be on in DEFROST setting? Supposedly the system won't try and turn on the compressor if it's low on charge, but...being a variable displacement compressor with no clutch...
As I am driving my car, the locks will randomly engage and lock all of the doors. There is no way I can repeat the issue manually. Some days it won't do it at all, other days, for instance this morning, it locked them over and over again about 4 times. This morning it locked, so I unlocked them, then it locked again and again every time I unlocked them, until I simply left them locked. There isn't a specific speed that it does it at, and it isn't related to the dealer setting up the computer to lock once I hit a certain speed because it does it at all speeds regardless, and it also does it at complete random times.
