View 9 RepliesI went from 2014 Sonata Limited to 2016 Sonata limited. Have had the 2016 for a day now. On balance I like the changes with one exception. On the 2014 if I had Keyfob in pocket there was button underneath trunk lip I could press to open trunk. On 2016 that button is gone. Trunk is to automatically open after x seconds if Keyfob is present.
The problem is the trunk will automatically open as I walk past trunk to enter driver door. Then sometimes if I want to open trunk it never opens when I am standing next to it. I think they thought this was a cool upgrade but it is worse. I may have to turn that feature off.
As the title says....sometimes the trunk does not latch unless I close it hard. Is this normal for a SC? Why?
I took some pictures of the hook and the latch so what is wrong:
First, the hook:
A couple of views of the latch:
I cannot tell if something is wrong....other than a slight dent on the outside perimeter of the latch housing?
Noticed that the A/C blows harder when you are braking? Is this normal or should I take it in? I have a 2016 Sonata Sport.
View 19 RepliesTrunk not open all the way when using the button on the remote, inside the car, or the smart sensor? It is pretty useless if your hands are full and the trunk opens a few inches and you still have to manually open it the rest of the way.
View 5 RepliesI got extra rubber strip. All you do is put it at them bottom of the trunk lip all around. It will reduce water pouring into the trunk.
View 13 RepliesI have had my car for a week and use the trunk every day. Tonight the trunk wouldn't open. Brought it to service and they were just closing, but technician looked quickly and didn't know problem and told me to come back tomorrow. I called Blue Link and they didn't have a clue either. I tried the remote, the trunk release in the car and the release under the trunk itself. I hear a click but it won't open. I even tried the second remote.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2015 sonata sport and every time I close my trunk it makes a long beep sound and then goes off. The sound is almost like if you close the car door and leave the keys in the car, almost like a warning sound.
View 5 RepliesI bought a 2016 ES 350 last month.
The doors (especially the rear doors) require quite a solid push to close them, or they just come to within an inch or so of closing and don't close all the way.
Want to know if this is a problem with the production of my car in particular, or if the model is just like this.
I've driven 32k miles now, and I'm having an acceleration problem. It does not happen everyday, maybe once a month. but once I start accelerating hard to merge onto highway, it shifts down and rpm goes up but the speed remains the same.
View 7 RepliesI'm on my second '15 Limited Turbo. Only have 2k miles, but I've noticed an issue with acceleration. When under hard acceleration, especially in 3rd or 4th gear, around 5k RPM the engine starts hesitating. It feels like it runs out of steam. This feeling lasts through beginning of next gear, then the car picks up again. It is actually faster when applying less throttle.
What it could be? It did it since new, I took it to the dealer once, but got some stupid response that it was just rev limiter kicking in (at 5k, right), unfortunately had no time to leave it with them again/show it to them. I also thought it might just go away on it's own, plus I don't usually drive it that hard anyway...
I've been noticing that when I need to make a hard stop, I will feel a sudden engine vibration for about 1 second as soon as it comes to a complete stop. The same feeling you might get when the RPM drops too low. It only does it for like 1 second though. I am not sure if it is the gears shifting down that is causing this. I won't feel it if I am making a gradual slow stop. Only fast sudden stops.
View 27 RepliesI have one problem, my trunk does not close, I close but it is not closed, the system does not close and the door is open.
View 7 RepliesI've noticed that when it's cold out when i open the trunk it won't close... you can slam it, be nice, hold it down, nothing... I have no issues when it's not cold out say 45+ F. Anything lower than that forget it....
View 5 RepliesJust got back from the store and the trunk will not close. Goes about 2/3 the way and stops. On inspection it seems the cable enclosure from the body to the trunk lid is not retracting(?) properly and causing the pinch protection to kick in as the cable appears to be very rigid.
Two questions: Could this be due to cold weather (less than 20F)?
I am driving a 2007 Lexus LS. Yesterday, the battery died, so I had to jump the car.
The battery was easily jumped, but now the trunk of the car will not close. I am able to push it all the way down, but the latch will not grab and attach.
Also, the automatic trunk button does not work either. When I press the button, I can hear a "click", but nothing happens.
Trunk won't close. Car has 101000 miles, new struts last year as well as belts and hoses.
View 8 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2013 Corolla and the trunk won't close. I have taken the latch mechanism from the top of the trunk and it will engage when I latch to the bottom, but when I put it back on the trunk it will not.
View 1 RepliesMy wife has a 2007 LS460. Some dummy at a big box store tied down the trunk to get a chair home by threading rope through the latch mechanism. Needless to say, the trunk will not close. Not with the button or manually. I tried the disconnect battery thing. Nothing. The lid goes all the way down.
View 14 RepliesSo, for about the last year, the whole time I have owned the car, the trunk latch wouldn't close when I shut the trunk. Basically I just lift it up again and try closing it, then it closes fine.
However, this morning, it took about 5 tries to get the trunk to latch. Now I am getting a little concerned. I have the bentley manual that I'm gonna have a look at ...
OK, Two days ago, at random, my lock stuck and would not open. I looked on this site and the best solution was to try to reset by disconnecting the battery. However, yesterday before I could get home and try it, the trunk starting opening and would not shut.
This morning I did the battery d/c. I notice the latch would pull the trunk down and then release several times. It appears about 5 times and then stopped in the open position. I put a screwdriver in the latch hook to see if that would stop the latch. It would not. I did the battery d/c about 5 times and no avail. I also checked the emergency pull inside the trunk and it is fine. I checked the latch release inside the car as well as in the glove box and they both appear to be in good working order.
So, I am led to believe I have either a wiring harness or a motor problem. I am leaning to the wiring harness because the pull down motor for the soft close is also not working.
