Looks like the front parking assist and auto emergency braking are inoperative. I have them selected in the settings but get no beeps or warnings. The back sensors are working and I get a display warning and tone. 2016 Sonata Limited ....
View 2 RepliesHow to install the Toyota Intuitive Parking Assist system in a US 2015 Camry XLE? Apparently, this system is sold with the 2015 Camrys elsewhere (I checked in TIS, and it is included in the 2015 Camry service manual), but not in the US.
I would dearly love to have this system in my car, because I find it difficult to judge how close I am in front to another car or other obstacle.
Noticed that the A/C blows harder when you are braking? Is this normal or should I take it in? I have a 2016 Sonata Sport.
View 19 RepliesI've been seeking opportunities to try out the parking assist features in our 2016 Prius Four Touring, as it is rather weird to have a car steer itself and it's a little tricky figuring out what to pay attention to. The parallel parking assist works quite well.
To engage the back-in parking assist, you're supposed to line up your car correctly--in a T across the back of the vacant space--and push the parking assist button twice. The first puts it into parallel parking mode, the second into back-in parking mode if available.
My parking brake light came on while driving. The car would coast at a low speed OK, so I think the brake was not on.
This happened in Yellowstone National Park at altitudes above 7,600 ft. and happened 4,000 miles ago and hasn't happened since. Taking the car in for an oil change today and I am going to ask about it.
I meant to ask a while ago if other people hear it too, it's right after you park and turn off your car you step out and can hear the metal ticking/clanking/tapping sounds from all over the car. I hear it all seasons, cold or hot days.
Is this just steel parts like the exhaust tubes cooling down? I never heard this much on other cars I've had so that's why it seems strange to me.
i just realized that when i apply my paddle emergency (parking) brake, the light on dash does not come ON. However when i turn the key on i can see there is parking brake light on dash and it also comes on.
Why its not showing the light when the parking brakes are engaged ? is it safe ? is it could be a fuse or cable from lever?
I was filling up my tank, as I was running in fumes a few days ago (just 14 miles before death as per trip computer) and to my surprise, when I filled my tank, it only went roughly up to 16 gallons (15.9xx to be precise) before the nozzle kept shutting off. Was the nozzle defective (or was I in a rush for not waiting until the vapors leave the tank?) or the 18.5 gallon tank has a ~2.5 gallon reserve that even the instrument gauge doesn't account for, as it was all the way in the E with the yellow gas pump icon on?

View 13 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0 Turbo. I just noticed last night that when I'm idle at a drive through or just starting off, going maybe 5 mph if that, that there is what I think is an exhaust noise coming from outside the car. I don't notice this sound anytime else except when at idle maybe pressing on the brake letting the car coast through a drive through or when parking. Far from a mechanic here. I just joined to maybe find out if I should schedule service immediately for something like this or wait.
I'm worried I might have torn something on the bottom of the car because I have taken it down a normally dirt road that was covered in snow and ice and bottomed out several times. I only idled down that road, going slow enough that the speedometer didn't even register. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Last night however, I went up a small hill in a parking lot, just at idle speed and heard a scrape, so bottomed out again. Didn't hear anything until about 1 hour after I got home when I went outside to move my car for the plow guy.
It's strange because today I didn't hear it when I started up the car, but only heard it when I went through the Dunkin Donuts drive through. I had my foot on the brake and the engine idling and it sounded like exhaust or the mufflers or something. Could it be that maybe water and snow got in something on the underneath of my car, and the exhaust is trying to "spit" it out?.
Whenever I park on an incline whether it's upward or downward the car seems to roll about an inch or so after engaging the parking brake and then taking my foot slowly off the brakes. When I engage the parking brake I have the transmission set in neutral so the weight of the car doesn't put stress on it.
View 26 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata 2.0t limited with 12k miles. Just few weeks back I started hearing a noise when I would step on the accelerator after a full stop, when the auto hold feature was turned on.
With the auto hold feature off and my foot on the brake, I don't hear that sound when I release the brake. It only happens when the car is stopped and the auto hold is on and i step on the accelerator.
I took it to the dealer and he is saying the brake calipers need to be cleaned up. I'm not convinced it's the brake because I don't hear the sounds when I don't use the auto hold. What can I do to fix this?
I've been noticing that when I need to make a hard stop, I will feel a sudden engine vibration for about 1 second as soon as it comes to a complete stop. The same feeling you might get when the RPM drops too low. It only does it for like 1 second though. I am not sure if it is the gears shifting down that is causing this. I won't feel it if I am making a gradual slow stop. Only fast sudden stops.

Though the turn signals do work. I tried doing a quick search but wasn't really able to come up with anything as to a reason why.
View 7 RepliesMy parking assist does not work any more. red lights and and one tone front and rear when the car starts, after that I just get red lights going forward and red lights going in reverse. Any way to reset the whole system? I pulled the fuse but that didn't work.

View 5 RepliesThere are a few threads on a sticking parking brake resulting in the warning light remaining on. Mine has developed to a stage that it requires a toe under the foot pedal every time to silence the alarm.
I finally stuck my head in the footwell this morning to look at the mechanism, expecting to see a strained spring. However there was no spring in evidence and I saw that when the parking break is released, the cable remains with some free play above the contact point with the pedal: i.e. there is no tension on the cable when the pedal is released, there is about 15mm of "free cable", leaving the pedal almost "floppy".
Observations
1) The pedal has no spring to return to it's correct position. Based on self study guide SSP_277 this is not as it should be as on page 37 this discusses a spring mechanism in the pedal
2) I would image there should be tension in the cable even when released; I feel the rear mechanism requires inspection as there are springs there.
3) While the parking brake works fine, It has a lot more travel that it previously had. Thus something is worn, stuck, or the self adjusting mechanism is not working.
4) For the record, car has 110K miles, the temperature is above freezing, the behaviour is not weather dependent and the parking brake has been routinely used (2008 car).
5) My recollection from new is the parking brake was released with a significant spring action: quite abruptly.
If the hydraulic brakes go out what is the best procedure to brake in a Prius? No, I don't envision this happening just a "what if"?
View 18 RepliesMy wife has a 2012 ES-350 with the Parking Assist feature but NO NAVIGATION. You have to get within about 2-3 feet of an object before the warning (visual and audible) detects an object in front or the year of the car. Can the "Sensitivity" be adjusted up so it will recognize a danger long before 2-3 feet ? My LS-460 has a Sensitivity Setting in The GPS settings but since her car does not have GPS, I don't know how to adjust the sensitivity to give her more warning of getting too close to another car or object. How to do this ?
View 11 RepliesWhere the parking assist sensor is in the front. I placed my license plate too far on the left I am assuming and the sensor is going off. For now I have just turned off the PA until after work. (is the PA a small visible circle?).
