Noticed the condensation from the exhaust seems to only exit on the left muffler when the vehicle is idling?
Is there an actuator that turns the right side unit on under heavier acceleration?
BMW uses an actuator on their exhaust system that opens up to create more airflow when above a certain RPM.
About 4 weeks ago my 2015 sports turbo developed loud exhaust, deep rumble, dealer replaced left rear muffler. Noise still there. I'm suspecting the center muffler.
View 5 RepliesHow much white smoke do you see coming out of the muffler? I've been seeing it while idling at stop light in my mirrors, and also see it in my backup camera while backing up. This is happening when the engine is already in normal operating temperature.
Been reading google and getting panicky about white smoke meaning that coolant is leaking and getting burned in the engine.
When you check your coolant reservoir, where between the F and the L is it normally supposed to be when the engine is Hot, or Cold?
Just as the title states, how do you start your vehicle if you are out and your key fob dies? Is there a method to start the vehicle without having the spare on you?
BTW, what is approximate battery life for the 2015 sonata key fob?
i have my 4 inch exhaust pipe cut just behind the rear of the cab right now with no muffler. If i cut it further up maybe jsut under the front seat or so what would this to the sound? would it make it deeper or louder?
View 7 RepliesI'm wondering if top tier gasoline is better for our car's. I had a 2002 Camry that stopped idling up with the A/C turned on. I was told that the only way to fix was to replace the throttle body after it was sprayed with some kind of cleaner. No adjustments as the idle is set by the car's computer. Don't want to go through that again.
View 22 RepliesExperienced an incredible failure this morning when I went out to start my 2015 2.0t Ultimate. Foot on brake, press start. Engine starts and the car icon in the middle of the instruments shows the system scan. Scan completes and all warning lights stay on. The LCD panel starts to report system after system has failed ... SCC, EPB, FCW, RPD, LDW, a veritable alphabet soup of abbreviations. Put car in gear and pulled out of space to see if that would have any effect. Turning wheel very heavy as if power steering has failed. No effect from moving a few feet. Couldn't get back directly to my parking spot so carefully around the block to get back to my space. Rear view camera came on when in Reverse but it remained on after shifting into Drive.
Back into park. Turned off engine. Tried to restart. No dice, won't even go through the start cycle. just all the warning lights on and LDW Failure on the LCD panel. Arranged a tow to the dealer and when the tow truck arrived we discovered the Electronic Parking Brake had automatically engaged even though I intentionally had left it off and there was no way to release it. Battery appears to have plenty of power so unlikely it is a low battery issue ... the two times it did start it turned over without hesitation. It's behaving as if the computer has been totally scrambled. There used to be a joke around that if Microsoft made cars, all the instruments and warning lights would be replaced by a single big red light in the middle of the dash reading "General Vehicle Fault" and it seems like that's what mine is telling me.
I own a 2005 F350 Diesel and I want to remove my stock exhaust and run a side exhaust with no muffler. Has any Diesel owners out there run a side exhaust system?

View 14 RepliesWhen I turn my car off there's quite a bit of noise coming from under the car. Basically the sound of the exhaust cooling off but I would say a little excessive. In fact one night I was dropping my son off and left the car running and went to get some stuff out and while it was idling you could hear it. Clink.. clink clink. Same sound when its turned off.
I backed the car up on some ramps yesterday after I had driven it a short distance to see if I can pint point where its coming from and It seems to be in two places. Both where the exhausts are bolted together at a flange. One where the Catalytic converter bolts to the pipe that leads back to the mufflers. And there the 2nd source where just after the Y pipe where it splits off into 2 mufflers.
Is this something that may subside after the car has gotten some miles on it? I'm still well under the first 1k miles.
I have a 2009 GX 470 and need to set up my easy exit (where seat goes back when car turned off and key comes out). I keep seeing posts that say got to the set up button and click on vehicle. I see a set up menu button but when I click that there is no vehicle option.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0 Turbo. I just noticed last night that when I'm idle at a drive through or just starting off, going maybe 5 mph if that, that there is what I think is an exhaust noise coming from outside the car. I don't notice this sound anytime else except when at idle maybe pressing on the brake letting the car coast through a drive through or when parking. Far from a mechanic here. I just joined to maybe find out if I should schedule service immediately for something like this or wait.
I'm worried I might have torn something on the bottom of the car because I have taken it down a normally dirt road that was covered in snow and ice and bottomed out several times. I only idled down that road, going slow enough that the speedometer didn't even register. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Last night however, I went up a small hill in a parking lot, just at idle speed and heard a scrape, so bottomed out again. Didn't hear anything until about 1 hour after I got home when I went outside to move my car for the plow guy.
It's strange because today I didn't hear it when I started up the car, but only heard it when I went through the Dunkin Donuts drive through. I had my foot on the brake and the engine idling and it sounded like exhaust or the mufflers or something. Could it be that maybe water and snow got in something on the underneath of my car, and the exhaust is trying to "spit" it out?.
Today morning I just noticed that while I was warming up my 2015 sonata 2.0T limited, I found there is uneven exhaust flow. Driver side exhaust has more flow than passenger side exhaust. I could feel flow barely from passenger side exhaust. I am just wondering if it is normal or I should take my car to service.

A friend I drove to work this morning even said "what's that noise?".... It reminds me of the sound you'll hear when there is a pinhole in a joint weld, or a clamp is loose? My car only has 2800km on it!

View 2 RepliesI just had my JUNBL exhaust installed over the weekend. Problem is, the left exhaust tip is touching the bumper. I was thinking of cutting the bumper part where it hits or changing the rubber mount to a longer one to bring the muffler lower (dunno if I can find a longer rubber mount) Everything was installed on the stock location of the stock exhaust with no modifications. Pictures attached. 2nd picture is on the left. Although not hitting the bumper, might have to modify that as well.

View 1 RepliesWhen I turn off my car I always get out within 10-20 seconds until today. When I shut it off after a errand I was checking messages on my phone and after about 45 seconds I started hearing this repetitive clicking noise from the left side of the dash near the vent area by the door. It clicked about 5 times and stopped for about 20 seconds, then clicked 5 more times, stopped for 20 seconds and again, 5 clicks, then it stopped and didn't start again. I am not sure if it is just the computer making adjustments, etc, but it is a little unsettling on a new car with 320 miles.
I thought maybe a bomb was in there. It was about 90 degrees outside and I had been using the A/C. I plan on listening again tomorrow evening when I get home from work and see if it does it again. (My car is a '15 SE 2.4L if that makes a difference). Maybe I am just paranoid, but you buy a new car to get rid of worries, not still have to worry if your car is breaking down, but I know new cars have a lot of features/settings/computers, etc and certain sounds may be normal.
When I shut the car off and just sit in the car, I hear a very odd tapping noise coming from the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It taps 3-4 times, stops for 20 seconds, and taps again 3-4 times. This process repeats a few times and then stops completely. What on earth could it be? I'm thinking its a bad relay or perhaps the car is possessed. I'm not sure I could reproduce for the dealer.

i dont care about the sound cause either way i go if i keep one it shouldnt get much louder right and either one will increase power/torque... im wondering which one bill better my mpgs the most im leaning towards muffler it will be easier and more legal...then again my truck already passed inspection
