Sonata NF (2006-10) :: The 2 Side Mirrors Not Adjusting
Oct 23, 2010
The 2 side mirrors get "lazy" after not adjusting them for a while, and won't respond to the electric lever on the driver's door. Even in the summer, I find myself playing with the lever for a long minute before it starts responding at all, usually I'll be moving it vertically all the way up and down, before it will respond also to any horizontal adjustment....

Got car back from inspection with driver mirror folded in. I popped it back out and tried to adjust, but it would only move up and down a little, and wouldn't move side-to-side at all. I then checked the passenger mirror, which hadn't been touched, and it didn't adjust at all (though it clicked once each time I pressed). When backing up, the driver mirror dropped to the curb position properly, but the passenger mirror didn't budge. Both mirrors had worked well previously and stopped working at the same time.
It seemed unlikely that the motors would give out at the same time, so I first wondered if it could be the switch, but the click seems to indicate that the mirror is getting a signal. So back to things affecting the actual mirrors...
In reading several posts, I came across one poster who seemed to be saying that he had this problem only on hot days, but not on cool days. My problem started (or at least I became aware of it) on the 1st over-90-degree day of the season, so that got my attention. This evening, after the outside temp dropped to the mid-80s, I tried again. This time things were somewhat better, but inconsistent. The driver side mirror moved up and down quite well, but side-to-side just intermittently. The passenger mirror moved slowly in all directions at first, but then stopped working again. I tried again when the temp dipped to 77 - left moved okay in all directions, right moved side-to-side, but not up and down. So it definitely seems to be affected by the outside temperature. I've had the car since March of 2015, and did not run into this problem last summer.
I'm wondering what this all means. Might something be gunking up from the heat, or are parts swelling or warping? I'm thinking of trying the fix posted by LS400_96 on 6/28/15 - if it's the same for an LX - though I truly am scared of breaking something. Or is it possible that it's somehow due to it being the FIRST hot day of the season? Might it adjust to summer if I just leave it alone?

I have a 14.5 and my fiance drove it today and informed me that she couldn't adjust the mirrors... Thought she might be crazy, but when I went out there, sure enough, they wouldn't move. Seems like there's no power. Neither the left or right move... It was too late (and dark) to check the fuses, but there shouldn't be fuses blowing already on this car. Door locks, BSM, windows all work. Which fuse controls this or is there anything else I should check before I bring it in to Toyota?

I believe it is a great feature to automatically adjust the side view mirrors downward when the car is put into reverse. One question, Does the passenger side mirror the only mirror which adjusts downward? My drivers side mirror does not move at all.

I have a 07 GS 350 and my side mirrors don't point down all the way in reverse than when I put it in drive the mirrors don't adjust to my preset.

When shifting from reverse to park or drive, the mirror tilts back up but not in the position it was prior. It is actually quite irritating because I would start driving and have to adjust the mirrors back to the desired setting. I've also just sat there and shifted from park -> reverse -> park and recalled the memory setting and I will see it make the adjustments.

My 1995 C3500 has a 60/40 bench seat, both adjusting knobs on driver and passenger side (to recline and pull forward for rear seat access) are missing. I've tried the manufacturer and these items are discontinued. Where I can find them or what would be compatible from another vehicle?

So I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!

I have an 09 Limited with the dual automatic climate control. It finally got cool enough to start running the heater. The passenger side vents are throwing cold air instead of warm like the drivers side. This includes the windshield defroster. I'm thinking there is a diverter "somewhere" that is not working properly.

I read in another post that when that person put their car in reverse, the back up camera came on, and the outside mirrors pointed down to assist with backing. My outside mirrors dont do this and I havent found anything in the settings to enable this. Is this only available with certain trim levels? Do mirrors move when you put your car in reverse?

I have a '13 sonata. I really like the turn signals that newer cars are doing on the outside edges of the mirrors. Without swapping everything out with new mirror shells.
Clarification: Note I want to add the lights to the outside front facing of the mirror buckets Not the ones they do have that attaches behind the mirror portion facing back. so oncoming cars can see the signals......

2006 v6 Sonota had the passenger side CV axle break apart. I have the wheel spindle moved away axle but off and all that. There is a bearing mid-way on the axle which I have removed 3 bolts attaching it to the motor. The bearing just seems to not want to come off the motor. This is how it's done right? How to remove this bearing and get the axle out?

I'm replacing tow mirrors on my 2004 F250 with 2008 mirrors. Both are factory Ford mirrors. Need wiring diagram since connectors and wires are different. They both have power mirrors, turn signals, heated mirrors, but are not power retract or fold.

I have a 2003 Camry LE. A replacement drivers side exterior door handle was installed yesterday. The battery was disconnected. Today neither of the side view mirrors work.
(re: checking fuse. Where located & initials on the cover? I don't see it in the manual ).
PS- My girl has 189,000 miles. She has never stalled, sputtered, hesitated. A testament to regular basic upkeep.

I purchased an '04 Silverado V8 with 50K miles for my wife and then got an '06 White V8 for myself. In the owner's manual there is an oblique reference to the side mirrors angling down while in reverse to aid parking. My wife's car seems to do this whereas mine does not. I assume I need to set up this feature somehow but I can't for the life of me find it in the manual.

If you have turn the engine off if there is a way to close the windows and the side mirrors without putting the key in the lock. Under the steering wheel there are 2 small switches, left and right. When I press the one on the left the light on the steering wheel goes on and off. What the one on the right do???

Dunno about you but during a rainstorm I cannot see a damned thing. It's something about the aerodynamics of my car that causes the water to run up the window in such a way that the side mirrors become moot.

I have not found a way to fold them. But if not, is it likely to be damaged during automatic car wash?
