I just discovered a flat on my 2006 Sonata (4 cylinder - 93k miles) - I changed it and put the temporary spare on - as soon as I got in and started it, the ABS light and the ESC off light came on. Is that normal? I plan to get the tire fixed tomorrow and to put it back on - just curious why those came on.
View 2 RepliesMy 2009 Sonata Limited always has the front window defroster come on in cooler temps when the climate control is set to AUTO. This is aggravating since it shouldn't do that. I took it in for service last year at this time and they didn't find anything wrong and I gave up arguing with the dealer about it.
Is there a sensor or something that is out of adjustment? It comes one when the temp is about 40F or lower and you just start the car after it's been sitting cold. I don't notice it so much when I am out on multiple errands.
Another thing that I notice is that I can never just turn the fans on for air circulation when the temps are moderate, not needing A/C or heat. If it turn the fan on, it always seems to blow cold air feeling like the A/C is on, even if it is not in AUTO mode. I complained about the same thing and the dealer said the unit is operating OK.
My wife is driving my 2012 GLS today. I have the keys with the remote with me. Shes at a friends house and only has the key, no remote.
She just called me and said the car wont start and when she opened the door using the key the alarm is going off. She said she can't turn the key all the way forward to start the car
My plan is to go by her friends house on my way home from work and use the key with the remote. However WTF with this situation???
I just did a quick google search and found how to get the alarm to stop going off by leaving the key in the ignition for 30 seconds while its turned ON.
I went to Jiffy Lube and got an oil change, fuel system cleaning and cabin air filter replacement & sanitizing. I drive an '09 Sonata with 112K miles. When the car came out, I pulled away and noticed that the airbag symbol on my dashboard was lit and the center console was flashing that my passenger did not buckle their seat belt (I didn't have a passenger or anything on the seat). I went back in and after they looked at it, they said they couldn't find anything that could've happened at anytime and was a "horrible coincidence."
Hyundai ran a diagnostic tests and one of the 4 things that came back was B1389 (in addition to B1516, B1324 and B1515). B1389 signifies "Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Failure." If the guy changing the oil damaged this (does this even get touched on an oil change), could that have offset the sensors for the airbags?
I just don't see how they done the above listed work and coincidentally my airbags are all deactivated afterwards. I'm reading a lot of bad reviews online, including quite a few for NOT putting oil back in the engine after the change.
I got my car back finally and on the way down the belt way i started sliding around a big turn and I get home to see my temp gauge way up and all the coolant went all over my engine .
I took it to a shop the did pressure test and that was fine, But the also found jell around the thermostat. The other thing they said is that it had air bubbles in it too. They said exhaust bubbles. But when they ran it it didn't heat up any more. They said its the early stages of blown head gasket ..
I took it to the dealer right away and they are telling me they cant find any thing wrong. Both places asked if i put stop leak in there but I never added anything to my car. So I am lost and don't know what to do.
I have a 2010 Sonata. The fuel and temp gauges stopped working. Tank is full and engine temp is good. Both dont move when you turn the key on. Tried to find a fuse that they may be on but couldn't find it.
View 2 RepliesMy engine light came on the other day and the code given was P0711, which is the transmission temperature sensor. I went to the dealer and bought one so I can quickly replace it. My question is, where is that sensor located? My haynes book doesn't even mention it. I called the dealer and was put on eternal hold.
View 5 RepliesThe ambient temp gauge on my '07 Santa Fe stopped working, all I was getting was flashing bars across thee bottom. Someone in a thread said there was a TBS about that. I went to my Hyundai dlr and got a copy of the TSB. It was actually pretty easy to take everything apart. The problem was that there were no wires the color I was looking for, also, there were no wires connected to the terminal as shown in the TSB. I went back to my dealer, and after a little research, found that the TSB did not pertain to my car because it was a late model year production. I was told that to fix the problem on my car, all for the fuse blocks would have to be replaced. Shortly after that, I started getting erroneous readings, eg:126 degrees. Now it is reading correctly, but who knows for how long.
View 1 RepliesI have water in my Jetta's tail lights and its really annoying. I just had them both out on the weekend and checked out the foam gaskets and they were both fine but i replaced them with an older pair I had that looked in even better shape but basically the same condition...
Rained pretty hard last night and now there is like more water in them then before... I made sure I tightened them down good because they were not that tight when I originally took them off.
There is water condensation in my spare tire well and making my carpet wet and starting to fog up my rear windows..
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The a/c air vent is not working on the passenger side. The vent on the drivers side is working. I believe it is the temp door actuator? Can we fix this on our own? Mileage is over 60,000 miles? That is the only problem I have had with my car.
View 1 RepliesOn longer trips, over 20+ minutes that the interior temp does not hold the current set climate control temp? If using sync on both sides, the temp in the cabin seems to creep down and you have to keep upping the setting and then reduce it because its too hot.
We have an older 2001 Infiniti I30 and it keeps adjusting to hold the right temp.
Which way can I go here for a spare key fob that no longer works? Will I have to buy a brand new one or can I just replace the battery inside?
View 3 RepliesI love my new 2006 Phaeton (white/beige) and have been trouble-free so far for first 2 months of ownership (12,000 miles) but now I get a Spare Tire Pressure Warning every time I start the car, that now stays on when I drive around. I don't even know where the spare tire is! It did just recently get cold in Chicago area suburbs, but I keep my car in the garage at all times.

Is it related to the STOP LAMP SWITCH issue? Would Hyundai honor the recall? [URl] .... If not, how to re-install a new switch?

The turn signal bulb has 2 filaments and 2 contacts (1157 bulbs) and yet the only ones that light up are those for the turn signals. No park lights when the switch is in park position or headlights on position.

View 1 RepliesSo I was following my wife today and noticed she had no brake lights. We just had the car in for servicing a couple months ago and at that time they noted all brake lights were fine. I wouldn't expect all of them to burn out at once, but I did replace one just to see (had an extra from last time since they come in twin packs) and that one isn't working either. So I was searching and I'm guessing it is the brake lamp switch.

Then lights shut off and all the while the car operates fine. The dealership thinks it's a Hydraulic pump...
View 11 RepliesReceived a battery jump in the dark from a friend who mistakenly had crossed the polarity. It blew the 150amp alternator fuse which is now replaced. Now, the ABS, ESC Off and brake lights stay on after starting. I have checked all fuses and the main relay, both under the hood and in side of dash, and cannot figure out what is causing this. The auto shift lever is locked out and I don't want to override it not knowing if it will cause any damage. Also, what protocol OBD system would this auto fall under?
