What this can be? Haven't heard it before until it started getting cold. Only happens when I go over bumps and I'm pretty sure it goes away after I drive for awhile (seems after the cars heated up or I've driven for awhile It disappears)...

Well I'm pretty surprised. It was around 30 degrees out last night and driving and there was some squeaking heard the first time from the right front of the car it sounded like when hitting pot holes or certain dips in the road. Couldn't tell if it was the dash or suspension. Sound's like Styrofoam squeaking. Pretty sure its the suspension. First time I've ever heard any noise since I've had the car, bought used with 20k now has 107k on it.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.4L. This problem started several weeks ago. When I turn on the ignition on the car, I hear a squeaking noise coming from the engine initially. Once the engine warms up, the squeaking sound lessen but does not go away. When I shift my automatic transmission to DRIVE, and press the accelerator, I hear squeaking noise coming from the engine again. I stopped my car and opened the hood. I could hear the squeaking noise coming from the front left of my car, if you are facing forward the front of the car. I do not know much about cars but I think it is coming from the fan belt/serpentine belt, or possibly alternator but I am really not sure.
Presently, the sound has gotten worse so I want to fix this as quickly as possible. I am second owner and the mileage on the car is 45,550.
I have a 2006 sonata gls 3.3l v6. There is a whining/slight squeaking noise coming from the drive belt when i turn the car on. When the noise started it would only occur when turning with the AC or Heat on. It then escalated to whenever i started the car and would go away after driving for a while. Now the noise continues even after a drive sometimes..
I've been told by a mechanic friend that the belt looks ok. So my plan is to take the passenger side tire off and the splash guard on that side to get at the tensioner for the belt. Once I have the belt off i plan on turning the various pulleys that the serpentine belt goes on to see if i can figure out which one is making the noise. How to pinpoint where the noise is coming from?

Wife just had 2 new tires put on. the front tires were pretty worn out and the rear tires still looked good. anyways they put the new tires on the rear and put the rear used tires on the front. now she said she is hearing a roaring noise that goes away after she drives a littler bit. i took it for a test drive and i kinda hear a roaring noise coming from the front of the car. almost sounds like a large truck tire going down the highway. but i dont think these small stock tires should sound like that right? could the tire be bad even though they look decent? broken belt of something inside them?
View 12 RepliesMy front end has given out. Getting a crunching sound that sounds like it is coming from the tire/wheel well area. With an 06 which has only 39,000 miles and an extended warranty until 2016 the Dealer just replaced the Strut Mounts? Sounded good, did no good. I'm going back soon, but shouldn't they have replaced the shocks and springs too? It sounds like the tires are rubbing while going over bumps, with a tearing crunch. I have known every noise in my Sonata since it came off the boat from Alabama and the car only got better over time. Since this noise seemed to happen on both sides all at once, what can it be? I did hear some noises V33 had posted, but it didn't sound the same as this screeching crunching new noise?

For about 3 weeks or so i have been having this squeaking noise similar to the noise you hear when your breaks are worn out and you need to replace them. It sounds like it is coming from the right rear tire, i have changed all breaks all the way around and today i finally changed the rear passenger caliper thinking that it was causing the noise but it is still there. I am also driving on my spare which happens to be the same size as my regular tires it just does not have the rim on it.
I also found out that prior to changing the rear passenger tire it was wobbling and i did not know till a friend pointed it out, the rim does have a really minor dent but i am not sure if that was causing it to wobble or if the wobble is what caused the noises to appear. I have been driving the car for about 3 months and it started 3 weeks ago. There is also a clicking noise that i hear but i cant point out if it is coming from that side of the car, i can only hear it when i am driving slow.
Also the squeaking comes and goes, it is not always there and when it is there and i apply the breaks it is still there. I have done some research and a lot of people have a similar problem but the noise will go away when they finally apply the breaks, my noise still remains even when breaks are applied. What it can be, i did a little more research and now i am thinking it can be the ujoints on the driveshaft?

I have a squeaking noise coming from my rear driver side tire. I changed my brake pads and one was missing. All it had on there is what looks like a shim. ( pics below )
After finishing the job I drove my car and the noise continues. It's mainly when I'm in reverse. Has any one else had this problem? My car is at 50k miles.
So I started hearing these random squeaking noises coming from the front suspension its what it sounds like. This only happens thou when i drive up into a drive way that is slanted. Or any kind of slow making slanted turns (~5-10mph)
I'm not 100% positive but it sounds like the suspension because it only makes noise when the car moves a little when ever i go up a drive way.
My 8-year-old (2003), 134k mile Nissan Maxima has a new quirk. When the car is started from completely cold (as in over night), there is a distinctive intermittent squeaking noise (think water being rubbed against glass) coming from the left front somewhere near the tire. The car only does this for about 5 minutes or so until it's warmed up and it has to be going 20 miles an hour before it starts. Once the car is up and running you can turn it on and off all day, let it sit for a few hours even, and it's fine. What's going on?
View 4 RepliesI have a 06 sonata v6 with 100k and the front end squeaks like crazy. Sounds like possible coil spring problem. It happens more so in the cold. Sort of goes away when really hot n humid. Is it spring related or maybe bushing or upper strut mount??

I hear it a lot more when I put the heat on through the top window (defroster). Never noticed it until it started getting cold. You think it might just be the belt? Or what?
I am asking this question for a friend of mine that lives about 2 hours away from me. She is having trouble with her brakes squeaking all the time. She just had new pads put on the car about 2 years ago. She stopped by a brake shop and they said the pads are good but the rotors have something on them which is making the squeak. I told her the rotors could be turned down to remote the varnish but she said the guy told her the rotors could not be turned down. Since she has moved since she had the new pads installed there is no way to get them to do it correctly. How to make the brakes stop squeaking short of changing the rotors.
View 8 RepliesMy wife has a 2006 Sonata with 75k on it currently. As the weather has gotten colder in the last few months the front suspension has started squeaking... Its sounds like rubberish squeaking noise from both sides of the vehicle.. Sounds to be more towards the top the car. As the weather gets colder it gets louder and you hear it more often. I was thinking maybe it was front strut mounts? I had stood outside the car and tried to bounce the front end to see if i could pin point it better...and I can't seem to duplicate the noise by bouncing the vehicle while its parked.. but soon as I drive it.. I hear it again.

View 11 RepliesI just bought a 2006 Sonata GLS V6 for my daughter to commute back and forth to college.
The car rides like a dream and has plenty of pep, but I had this annoying squeak when you go over bumps. It looks like the upper strut mount has a lot of play in it when you shake the car up and down, so I ordered 2 from Rock Auto. the left side feels and looks solid.
But I just read an article on the upper control arm replacement and wonder if that not my real problem here.
Ok, I have a 2007 Sonata SE and it's been doing this squeaking for awhile when the front suspension is put to work, it's annoying, and it's embarrassing. Now the colder it is outside the louder the front squeaks, but then when it's pretty warm outside say 68 F or above maybe, it never squeaks it just clacks over bumps exactly the same sound as my coilovers that needed a seal, just verifying is this my Upper Control Arm bushings?
View 8 RepliesI hear a squeaking noise when I start my car. It is mostly in the mornings. Sometimes other parts of the day also. I believe it is on cold start because I usually hear it when the car has been sitting for a few hours.
My first thought was that it may be the belt so I popped the hood and looked at it. The belt seemed nice and tight and there were no cracks or extensive wear on it.
Second thought was brakes. My front brake pads are good but rear brake pads are close to needing replacement. Sometimes when I brake I hear the squeaking noise but it is hard to tell because at time it feels like it is coming from other cars.
Could the brakes be the cause of this sound? Even though it is at start up and not constant.
Car is 2007 Sonata with 100k+ miles on it.
I have a 2005 NF sonata elite 4 cylinder 147k on it. have a problem with a squeaking noise when car goes over rough road, bumps or pot holes. Had 2 new shocks put in the front today and got car back but noise was still there but not as frequent. Have returned car and they will take new ones out and put back old ones as they where still ok just wear on them no major issues.
View 14 RepliesMy car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?

Since then my rear end has been making a creaking/squeeking noise while driving or pushing on the car side to side. The struts seem to be ok, there is no bounce in the car. What this could be? I was thinking some sort of bushing somewhere?
