Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Slight Vibration In Car When Driving In The Morning
Oct 12, 2013
I've noticed that when I am driving my car in the morning there is a slight vibration in the car, it feels like the rear, but it could be the whole car. After I drive it for a while this vibration goes away. The vibration never comes back again until the next morning, even when the car sits at work for 8 hours the vibration doesn't appear.
It's not a violent vibration, it's very subtle but it is noticeable. I'm thinking that most likely it is my struts and shocks, I know that they probably need to be replaced soon (with our shocks being crap).
I don't think my wheels are out of alignment as the car doesn't pull to any side at all and my brakes are also good and not sticking. The car has 86K on it. What is going on and if I should be more concerned than I am or is it just worn shocks and or struts?

When I'm idling my car at a stop, I notice a slight vibrating through the car... The vibration could also be felt through the steering wheel.
Not a major issue. Tried pushing car into neutral to see if it made a difference... Nothing.

The front wheels on my 04 accent has a slight vibration ( it's so slight that you don't notice it ) when driving at any speed . if I let go of the steering wheel , it wobbles back and forth . I also sometimes get a vibration on the steering wheel at high speeds when braking which feels like a rumble on a game controller .

I have a 2004 F-150 Super Crew Lariat which I bought new and I just turned 300,000 miles. The truck has been very well maintained and is in great shape. It is hands-down the best vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned plenty. I drive mostly highway miles and lately I have notice a slight roughness or vibration when driving straight or turning right. If I turn left of center it drives as smooth as the day I bought it. The dealer can't figure it out, or they don't have the experienced personnel and/or they don't care to figure it out because of the high miles. They checked the power steering pump, which checked out fine and that was as far as it went.

Experienced slight vibration at idle with the ac on ranging from 780-825rpm n causes shaking. Don't remember it ever doing it before. Also once I off the ac it goes away. Also the car started dropping rpm a little when slowing down.

A little about my truck. E99 F-350 crew cab long bed dually 4x4 223K miles. 4.10 gears with LS in rear.
I bought the truck June 2016. I ended up wrecking the truck on the test drive. Thought it was a 4 way stop and pulled out in front of a lady and she ran into the passenger side tire. Only damage that was on the truck was a busted tire, and the fender smashed in. Some how missed the door and the bumper.
I replaced all the front end: u-joints, ball joints, steering linkage, brakes, rotors, calipers, and all the u-joints in both of the drive shafts, also changed the fluid in both axles.
I have started to notice a slight "vibration" "shimmy" while driving down the road. Mainly while in a curve or changing lanes; applying pressure to the steering wheel one or the other. Tires have been balanced, and rotated several different times now with no luck at all.
While backing up, I can feel something "popping" "clunking" especially while turning. Like backing out of a parking space.
Insert troubleshooting:
Jack truck up and put on jack stands.
- Pull and shake all tires. --No movement
- Put in drive and watch all the rear end. --Nothing shaking or out of sync.
- Put truck in 4wd, hard to engage, watch front end. --Nothing shaking or out of sync.
- Turn tires to full lock. --Drive line starts clanking and shaking and rear tires acting funny.
- Turn tires straight. --Problem goes away.
- Put truck back in 2wd. --No problems when turning wheel lock to lock.
- Drive to empty parking lot. --Mainly feel problem while backing up, really have to feel for it. Most people call me insane.
- Lock the front axle. --No difference.
- Put in 4wd. Drive straight --No difference.
- In 4wd while turning. --Truck wants to act like it is fully locked in the rear and will bind up and slip a tire. You really have to give it some fuel to make it even try to move, and its almost like the truck wants to fold in half on itself. Cant keep the steering wheel in one spot as it keeps "jumping" on me.
- Put in 2wd. --Acts the same way until the truck fully comes out of 4wd then smooths back out to where you have to really feel for it. 4wd light stays on forever, before going off later in life.
- Put in 4low. --Gears grind and will not engage.
Would this indicate that the transfer case is messing up on me? Why would the rear axle feel like it is locked when in 4wd?

I have a 2007 Accent that I love but have a strange issue. I had both front wheel bearings replaced about four months ago. Recently (about the past three weeks) there has been a slight vibration at speed once I hit over 50 kph, which sounds/feels like an alignment/axle issue (almost like there is a flat tire type of sound) but there isn't any sway when I let go of the wheel and I had the front end inspected and they told me there are no loose parts.
I took it to a shop, and they said a wheel bearing needs to be replaced. So of course I took it back to the original shop and had them check it again for free - they said it isn't a wheel bearing but what it could be.

I just bought a 2008 Elantra SE with 26K miles. So far, I've really enjoyed it, except for, at times, it does vibrate somewhat during idle.
I took it to the nearest Hyundai dealer, and they clipped the throttle cables to the inside of the firewall. This did make some improvement, but I still feel vibration during idle when the engine is warm (doesn't seem to as long as RPMs are up). It's almost as if the idle is set a little too low.
Maybe this is just normal vibration? It's not too bad, just noticeable. Can idle in these cars be adjusted? It seems the car is too new to have clogged fuel injectors. Everything else about driving it feels great, acceleration, etc. Do you think using a higher octane gas would work?

I own a 2012 Sonata GLS -Automatic with about 66K on it.
So I don't know if it's the cold weather or what, but there is some light 3 second rattling going on from under the hood which has made me nervous. (seems to be coming from left side where the belts are - facing the hood- )
Two days ago, the malfunction light came on. The car stalled for a brief few seconds. Wife turns off and turns car on. She gets it moving. An hour later, I find an error read back: P0014 -Exhaust ( Camshift Position Timing - Over-Balanced (Bank 1). I took it to the mechanic, we replaced the oil and filter. Light goes away. No stalls since.
Still the rattling is there. Today as I was driving home, the car had a very slight chug, almost as if the car put on the brakes on its own, for about a split second. I was not shifting gears.
I am due for an alignment. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

My wifes 06 4runner 2wd with 120000 miles on it needed a new battery. I changed the battery that night and my wife called me the next morning when i was at work and told me that her car was idling low with a slight vibration at almost all speeds. Also, when stepping on gas pedal from a dead stop the vehicle hesitates only momentarily and then lurches forward like its slamming into 1st gear and then shifts and drives normally beyond first gear... I am perplexed. Never had any issues with tranny or any other component of the car for that matter until i changed the battery.

I drive a 06 Sonata 2.4L Automatic with 124,000 miles. I noticed that when I'm going about 45 or 50mph the car will slightly jerk continuously. It almost feels like its either hesitating to up shift or down shift.

I have a 2007 sonata 2.4L with 93k miles that has a knocking sounds coming from the bottom of the engine. It seems that it is a bad rod bearing and was caused by low oil levels. I did not know that the oil was that low (3 quarts low) It started about a week ago. I know I'm gonna have to put it on jack stands and drop the oil pan.
By the way, Here is a video I found and it sounds similar to my car. Here's the link : 2.4L Theta Engine Noise - YouTube

I bought my sonata with about 48,XXX miles about 2 months ago, and now it has 52,500 (im a student - dont drive much). Anyways, whenever i start my car up and drive down the road, when the car shifts in to third, i hear a slight knock. almost like a little gong - metal on metal.
Once it does it the first time, it doesnt do it anymore. Im guessing temperature could have a factor?

My sister has a 2006 sonata V6 3.3, she got in 2007 with I think 20,000 miles on it, it has 180k. now. For the first few years she took it to the dealer for all the maintenance and oil changes. She has kept up with the oil changes and I think all the recalls were done.
There has been so slight noise at start up, but nothing I thought was too unusual for these kind of motors.
Yesterday she had an emergency with one of the kids, her faithful sonata fires up with an incredible amount of upper end noise, and it looked like it was burning oil. The engine was turned off immediately.
Her husband tried to start the car about a half hour later, he said it was hard to start, ran rough for moment, he revved it for a bit and it smoothed out running normally. No codes and no CEL. Oil level was good. Oil filter is a fram I think.
I started it a few hours later there was some lifter noise that quickly went away after a rev. Other than that it sounded normal and drove normally, normal exhaust from what we can tell.
There were no codes. and so far it has not done it again. But she is worried the engine is about to fail and she can't trust it with transporting her kids.
Was a timing issue? stuck valves? oil pressure? Oil Pressure to the cvvt (OCT?) maybe? They can't afford a new car right now, is this something easy to fix or is it a warning the motor is about done?

So when I turn and am hard on the gas I get a clicking and slight clunking sound from the front end. Wants to confirm its the CV joints before I rip it apart?

My Hyundai Sonata 2008 vibrates when driving at 40 km/h. Steering wheel doesn't shake, only car vibrates. And this happens regardless of pressing gas pedal or not. Front wheels are balanced(as the car is front wheel drive) yesterday but no success.

2006 Sonata 2.4. A couple weeks back I posted about how my engine is making a slight ticking noise. It makes the noise consistently. I recorded a video of the noise. What it could be. Here's the video: [URL] ....

I have a 2006 hyundai sonata 3.3L V6. Only happens on a cold start. I'll start the car and it won't tick while at idle. But as I drive away ill hear it for maybe about 2 mins only maybe in first gear until the car slightly warms up and then it's gone completely.

2008 Sonata 2.4L ... I have an issue, hopefully minor, but when I drive over bumps I hear a slight rattle in the front suspension. My first guesses are either a sway bar, struts, or tie-rods.
My second issue is the steering wheel isn't centered. Best way to describe it is if you draw a line dead center on the top of the wheel and remember that spot, when driving straight it's about an inch or two to the right.

I have a 2006 Sonota and I'm getting a slight rub feeling when I turn the steering to the left or right. What should my concern be on this and what steps should I take to solve this problem?
