My radio never turns on with the car right away. The only way it turns on is when i crank my heat on for about 3-5 minutes. Then it powers on. Fuses seem ok. The service center didn't know what could cause this...
View 3 RepliesMy son has a 2001 explorer sport that he keeps at college. The vehicle sits alot more than it runs these days. Recently it some times does not want to start, no click when you turn the key. He got it home today, and after I changed oil, it would not start. I have no ground to the starter relay in the power distribution box.
I have no electrical schematics, where the ground for the starter relay comes from ? If I remove the relay and run jumper wires from the box to the relay, i can make the vehicle crank when i apply another ground source to the relay....but it just cranks, will not start.
Ok so this has been driving me nuts now for a couple days. When I listen to the reg radio, not noticeable. When i use xm, I switch channels and there is a very noticeable humming noise. Now the louder i turn the volume up the louder the humming gets. It makes the stations sound horrible. Not the same in FM! If i turn the car off the humming noise stays until the radio completely powers off. Everything is stock, stock NAV unit, stock speakers, no add on's. What am i missing before i go chasing gremlins. Some say its the amp, some says its the nav unit. How can i narrow down what it is?
View 3 RepliesFuel Pump and Fuel Pump Relay replaced after 115,000 miles. On occasion, engine will turn over but not crank ... wait 10 minutes and the engine will start. No security light (passlock) or engine trouble codes displayed or recorded. Once the engine starts, it runs smoothly and normally. Problem of starting did not occur until the fuel pump and relay were replaced.
View 4 RepliesI wrote about the problem I was having back in Jan 2014 (engine would crank too long if I left the car parked for 30 mins to 4 hrs) ..... well, I finally brought it o a good diagnosis tics place and some of the guys that replied to me we're correct ..... they told me that the crankshaft position sensor (1of 2 sensors) was faulty and replaced it.
View 3 RepliesI just recently purchased my 06 Ford F-250 it's got the 6.0 in it once I made a 6hr trip I've noticed once you warm it up and ride a little bit kill it let set for 30min or better and crank it up it blows white smoke for a min or two than on the way to work this morning my heater.
View 2 RepliesI am recently getting no AC just warm/hot air. I have yet to pressure check the system but i believe the compressor still turns. But I did notice throughout this the vents are only giving about 60% force on heat and AC as they used to. The blower motor spins although, cleaned the cabin air filter and one pin broke when putting it back. the blower motor spins louder on the "4" setting. I am guessing this is related to no A/C since it happened the same time and i don't think that low refrigerant would cause the heat system to blow less efficiently...
View 1 RepliesI just got back from a deployment and my Dad changed out the battery on my 06 F150. He said it started up fine for him, but I tried and it powers up great but won't turn over. Everything electrical still works, but the engine doesn't even try to turn over.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata V6 it has a 100k miles and was running fine 2 days ago. I woke up this morning to turn it on to my surprise the car wouldn't crank. I no I was past due on a tune up so I went ahead and did a tune up upon completion the car still won't crank.
View 11 RepliesSonata NF 2.0 ... 3 days ago, my care drove for - 4 minutes then engine shut down. Try to re-start the car but unavailable. I towed the car to workshop, they claimed high possibility is the fuel pump faulty.
Initially a check was done found fuel pump good (the technician disconnect the tube before the fuel injector assembly). They did a diagnose test found no error code registered.
Subsequently check on the fuel pump found no fuel come out before the fuel injector assembly (same as previous, disconnected before the assembly). Fuel pump was replaced. The engine can start running but will shut down after a while.
What is the possible cause and how to identify the root cause.
New prob for my 2006 Sonata 3.3 L. After I drive it for 5 to 30 minutes, the ESC Off light comes on. Prior to it coming on the ESC off button appears to work fine, and if I peel out from a stop the ESC system seems to work fine. The only thing I have done recently was change the battery and the drivers low beam headlight. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again, but same prob. Is it time to just take it into the shop? BTW, I already had the recalled brake/stop light switch replaced over 6 months ago.
View 13 RepliesThe heater in my '07 Sonata (V6) does not seem to do too much - the air gets warm, but not hot - even at full blast. (A real problem here in Wisconsin when the outside temp gets below zero). Temperature gauge always reads below the midpoint on the gauge. My hunch is I need to install a hotter thermostat.
View 5 RepliesMy idle seems to always be somewhat rough whenever I put the heat on in cold weather. While in drive I'll come to a red light, heat will be on and I'll stop. The. my idle will bounce down then back up. I shut heat off to test and it only does it while heats on.
View 5 RepliesMy 2009 Sonata 2.4L GLS is jerking at around 20mph when I slow down for the first 10 minutes that I start driving. I have taken it to the dealership 2 times. The first time, they updated the computer module for the transmission, however the problem was still there afterwards. The next time, I did a transmission fluid flush and fill, but yet I still have the same jerking problem.
View 12 RepliesI've Sonata 2006 and it's just fine no problems at all, until this problem comes. When I start the car the engine crank but not start, RMPs is jumping to 4 then into 0.. I checked fuel pump, battery and sparks all are good.
View 4 RepliesI bought this 06 GLS 3.3l v6 and owned it a week. 96k miles on it. The car started displaying "random misfire" codes two days before it died. I was on the way to drop it off to a shop to have it looked at then it shut down and would not restart. Got under the hood checked all fuses/relays and everything was fine. I tried turning over and it will not even turn over. Fuel pump does not come on. Thought maybe dead battery but I replaced that after towing it home. Tried with the same result. Removed starter and had it tested at two stores to verify from multiple sources. Starter is good. Left battery in car for two weeks with car off and battery was drained to 0 CCA and 0.9vlts left in it. I troubleshoot with a test light to see if I have something drawing on the battery more than normal. 30amp fuse labeled I/P(B+)2 was causing a draw. What circuit is this and what may be causing my dead in the water symptoms?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata v6 with about 140k. The other day, I tired starting the car and I heard a "click" but no cranking. (For definitions, a click is a single staccato sound "kuh"; cranking would be the sound of the engine trying to start and just not able to make it "kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh"). I thought maybe I wasn't in park, so I jiggled the gear shift a little and then it started. I'm not sure I actually did anything, but it started and I figured it was a once and only problem. Well, I had the problem again tonight. In Park and Neutral I get a click. In Reverse and Drive, I get nothing. So it seems like Park is recognized. The battery is fully charged, but for god measure, I charged it anyway. Nothing unusual about the weather - 50s and dry. The car is parked on flat ground. I didn't just fill up. I can't think of anything different that I'm doing.

View 1 RepliesI've notice it do this probably 4 or 5 times in the last couple days. I turn my brights on and the radio will turn off for a second and turn back on by itself. Its not just the display going blank because the sound goes off also.
I trying to figure out all electrical I have going when this happens. Rear Defrost etc.
I think it went out once without turning the brights on but I can't remember what I was doing that time. Have less than 4k on my warranty.
I have a 2010 Sonata GLS and it has a starting issue. When you turn the key I have power to everything like dash, radio, lights etc. but it doesn't start. No crank, no clicking, just dead. I have checked the battery cables, battery posts, ground, starter cable. I kind of got the impression from reading other posts that it may be the starter or maybe ignition switch. I have replaced the starter once before but I'm wondering if you all think it's possible to be the ignition switch? If it was the ignition switch would the symptoms I am having be adding up? I guess what I am trying to say is if it was the ignition switch would you still have power to everything like the dash, lights and so on and the car not start or would there be nothing at all (dash lights, radio, headlights) in addition to the car not starting when you turn the key?
View 14 RepliesRandom issue that has progressively been getting worse. I'm assuming it's one of those Sonata quirks that we all deal with.
When you turn the key the starter doesn't try to crank the engine. AC stuff all works properly. I just keep turning and eventually it will turn on.
