My daughters 2010 Sonata has a occasional problem that is very disturbing. When she is slowly pulling into a a parking spot or into her garage, the car will make a lurch forward. Just a quick acceleration and then back to normal. So far she hasn't damaged anything but its just a matter of time. She has taken it to a neighborhood independent garage.
View 14 RepliesI've been hearing a popping noise occasional when reversing into a parking spot for about a year no, its like 3-8 pops each time. I looked at the CV joints and the rubber hosing is intact. I am pretty sure this particular noise now is not ball joints squeaking.
How long can I let this slide without replacing. Is the CV joint sold as one whole piece?
BTW I'm checking out the 2013 Sante-Fe....
I just got my new 2011 Prius a week ago and still getting used to it. Yesterday I was pulling out of a parking spot in Reverse when the ICE came on and I felt a slight jolt in the transmission when it happened. Is this normal or should I get it checked out?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2003 Variant V6, 34,000 miles - I was pulling out of a parking spot and the car had no "power". but eventually it kicked in..then when I got home I noticed that the brake lights stayed lit...no problem, I pulled the fuse so the battery wold not run out...put the fuse back in for the ride to the dealer, but a block out and again no power - depressing the gas pedal had no effect. Could these be related? The cars been at the dealer all day, they have no clue so far. I had the fuel pump replaced under recall...could it be some sort of electrical problem.
View 4 RepliesI have a 99 Buick LeSabre and it died while I was pulling into a parking lot. It wouldn't start back up. I tried listening for the fuel pump and nothing. It's not priming or making any noise. Once I got it home I replaced the fuel pump relay. Still nothing so then I changed the fuel pump. Still nothing. I'm stumped. I'm going to check all the wires tonight to make sure I got them on right. Is there any other relay or fuse on these cars that I can check?
View 3 RepliesI have Toyota 4runner 1996 4 cylinder. it was running good (from time to time I would lose power for 2 to 10 second than it go back to normal acceleration). I had the check engine light on for almost 8 month. last week I took the car to mechanic shop for diagnosis. the mechanic changed the spark plugs and after that the engine lost power. the car cannot go over 30 or 35 mile per hour. He changed the spark plugs and put different ones, same thing he put the old ones back same problem, he changed the wires, the fuel filter, air filter, the distributor and rotor, but still the same problem. the problem is that the check engine light is off now and there no codes.
View 2 RepliesI have a 07 Sonata 2l crtd, Its been running fine for about 6 years, But for the last couple of months, when setting off gently, as it reaches approx 1400rpm, I get a blip/hiccup/flat spot/miss. It ONLY happens at 1400rpm, and irrespective of what speed I am doing.
For example, as above, (setting off) but also, if cruising gently at approx 50mph ( which equals approx 1400rpm) then it does it again. It only does it at 1400rpm.
Also (maybe related) the orange engine warning light has now come on ( twice in past 2 weeks ) it stays on for a day or so,,,then goes out. its not flashing.
I noticed a rust spot near my passenger rear wheel well. Not really sure how I got the damage or where it came from. I don't walk to that side of the car as often so I'm not sure how long it's been there. I can't feel on the other side as there is another panel on the other side so I don't know if it is rusted all the way inside.
View 12 RepliesI just got a 2009 lexus gs 350 everything is perfect except when i go into reverse and back up slowly the brakes make a loud squeaking noise!! Its really annoying and embarrassing. I got the rotors resurfaced and nothing.
View 3 RepliesAs the topic says, I get a slight stutter in the car when I'm say parking into a parking spot. As I get closer to 0 mph i feel the car kinda jerk a little bit.
It's done this since we bought it off a used car lot, and I figured it was the tranny fluid being burned or low. I did a drain/fill twice over the last weekend, and noticed while it has worked forthe issue, it's not fully rectified.
I also notice that 60-80% of the time when LIGHTLY accelerating, going from 1st to 2nd is kinda rough. If i floor it, it's actually pretty smooth.
It doesn't feel like anything "BAD" is happening - no grinding, doesn't feel like slippage...
So a few weeks ago my car stalled when I was backing out of a parking spot. It then continued to stall when I was trying to drive through the parking lot. I chalked it up to being low on gas. When I got on the highway it stopped doing it. Then I filled up with gas and it continued to stall while going from a stop position. There is gas and when I go to shift from Reverse to Drive it stalls out when I push the gas. It is almost as if the fuel is not coming through but if I punch it then it does not stall. I've had a number of car issues in the past and I've never experienced anything like this before.
This is an automatic 2003 BMW 330xi.
Have a 2006 Sonata GLS with a 2.4 mileage has rolled over 207k .... I started hearing a slight ticking noise from the top of my engine and it has slowly gotten louder, now it can be heard inside the vehicle and more so when revving the engine...it also has 2 stored codes P0011 and P0456, I'm not too concerned with the evap code at the moment, I have decided to replace the oil control valve and clean or replace the lash adjusters...here is my problem, I have mechanic experience but only on Honda, all the youtube videos I have found for valve lash adjustment or replacement are for Mitsubishi and chevy engines, so I am not sure what the adjusters actually look like on this engine and if I can even do them without removing the timing chain.

This is possibly A/C-related because we are running the climate control on auto every time we drive? Our car is brand new and has about 400kms on it.
View 6 RepliesI took my car to the car wash and they seemed to take longer to vacuum/wash it and while driving it away, I noticed something was off. It seems like the engine is louder than normal. Before when starting the car, it would take 30 seconds to a minute before the battery/engine would come on. Then while accelerating to about 25-35 mph, then the engine would come into gear. When going on the freeway, if accelerating at a quick speed it would sound really loud. Now, it seems like instead of silent, quiet, a little louder, louder and loudest - it's moved to the next level. When starting the car, the engine starts right away and when driving away (at less than 25 mph), the engine sound like I am on the freeway and when I'm on the freeway it sound like I'm trying to gun the engine. I don't know what it could be.

Noticed here lately that my brake pedal is depressing further, and can go to the floor if I press it hard enough.
If I press the pedal quick (panic stop) it engages quickly and in the correct spot (I can feel the front tires almost lock up) then it depresses more almost to the floor. the brakes still work perfect however.
What should I try first?
I use my hand brake, and have pumped the brakes and pulled the handbrake to set the rear pistons in place.
I replaced the two rear calipers about a year and a half ago and bled them obviously. Have not bled the front brakes and will do that, but was just looking for more insight, and common problems, vacuum leak, etc.
Reservoir is full as well, and no brake line leaks that I know of.
Having a slight issue with my 2004 Camry. I've noticed when reversing out of a perpendicular parking spot the car seems to cluck when I am turning my way out. It always clunks twice, it feels as if I am reversing over a slight bump. It doesn't happen every time and it only seems to clunk when I am reversing out of a spot. I feel it throughout the car rather than hearing any odd noises. The lots I park in are smooth so I know it can't be the lots.
View 1 RepliesI drive a 2007 camry hybrid. i live where there is a lot of snow and unfortunately my only place to park is in the street. last winter, a couple of times i had an incredibly difficult time getting my car to move because the 'automatic traction control' would engage as i tried to pull out of the parking spot. there was a decent amount of snow, but if this automatic feature hadn't engaged, i would have been fine.
I know in the newer models, there is a button to push near the steering wheel that turns off this function. this is not the case with my car. is there any other way i can disengage this function?
In my haste last year i quickly read a couple of other messages suggesting i go through a series of depressing/releasing the brakes, followed by turning on/off the car etc etc (like a video-game cheat code!), however i had no luck.
I really like my 2012 Prius v, but in cool or cold weather, which happens quite often in Seattle, when I first exit my parking spot, there is a "moaning sound". I have relayed that info to my Toyota dealership and was told that Toyota is aware of the issue but has no fix. I tried contacting Toyota online and have made several attempts to get updated info at my dealership but have had no luck.
View 2 RepliesI just noticed this morning that both rear parking assist and BSD on my 2015 SFS Limited are not working. Other than the button near the shifter to turn off the audible alarm for parking, I don't recall any other buttons or settings that would turn both systems off. I won't have access to the user manual until later this evening. I did clean off the rear parking sensors but that didn't change anything. Am I missing something?? What's common? Perhaps a fuse?

View 19 RepliesOver the past few months my '13 350 occasionally seems to hesitate when starting from a light, in a parking spot, in general no/low speed maneuvers. It doesn't do it every time, and it's not a hesitation with engine bucking, backfire, or noise. It just feels like the power takes a few seconds to come on when I hit the pedal. Sometimes. It has been interesting a few times on highway on-ramps...
At first I thought it was my accelerator technique, using the wrong foot angle, but I've been careful to apply the pedal correctly. Since it doesn't feel like the classic engine miss I was wondering if there are any other things to consider, such as transmission (hopefully a software update or something else simple) or anything else.
