I have this problem about 3 weeks ago,when i start the engine i have sound dont know how to describe it but something like tik tik mostly come from crank pully it is not so loud and disappear after few minutes from 5 to 10 min . and if i turn off the engine and start it again does not appear only if kept turned off several hours.

View 25 RepliesI'm not sure if this qualifies for a "cold start" but my 1.8T sounds imperfect when I start it for the first time of the day. It'll rev around 1200 RPM, instead of the normal 800RPM idle if I start it after it had recently been turned off for a short period.
It sounds almost like my old car that had an exhaust leak, but not as obnoxious. When it settles back down to 800RPM it really purrs and sounds great. Is this normal?

I've been trying to get my dealer to take a look at my noisy engine. The loud clicking sound is getting really annoying. When at idle sitting at a red light, my car would click like my old - 1987 Toyota beater..
I brought it in 2 times to have the dealer check it out, but they would said its "normal" and that the high pressure injectors and fuel pump are loud on our 3GS.
So i was wondering to try using heat wrap to try to reduce the noise from the fuel pump. It seems like the fuel pump is making the most noise.
I have an 07 with 81.5K miles. Just a few weeks ago I've noticed a "rumbling" sound when starting the car in the morning before my AM commute. To me it sounds like an exhaust issue. This sound is becoming more frequent and now occurs most of the time while I drive. The volume has not increased, only frequency. The engine sounds ok, and no lights or indicators are showing.
MPG performance is down from 45-50MPG to about 40MPG but I think this may be because it's been extremely cold here lately and maybe the gasoline bladder has shrunk? Anyways, what this could be? If it's an exhaust issue could it require replacing the entire exhaust system because it's a hybrid (one mechanic friend I have said this might be the case)? Could it be something as simple as getting a new muffler?
My 2007 V6 Sonata Has a very loud clatter when I start it. It will last anywhere from 2-5 seconds then it usually goes away. It almost sounds like a baseball card hitting the spokes of a bicycle. It's within warranty and last time I took it to the dealer they first claimed they couldn't hear it. Then they changed their story and said that it was the belts warming up, and they said this is a perfectly normal sound for Hyundais to make. My fiance's family has owned 3 Hyundais and they have never had such noise come from any of there vehicles. Both of my other cars never sound like this.
View 17 RepliesLast Thrusday, my wife couldn't start my Sonata 2010 with 30,350 miles on it. It just clicked and sounded like a dead battery. She had to get a jump start through Hyundai road side service.
I change the battery yesterday (it only had 225 cranking amps) and immediately strange things started happening: lights flickering, engine surging, hard starting, not starting just clicking, gauge lights blink strangely at startup and when switching off ignition, not remembering odometer settings (I set my odo for MPG).
Is there a replaceable bulb for the check engine light? Mines stop coming on when starting the car. I think that's why I failed the emissions test. I didn't check with the attendant in the office to get an explanation.

View 10 RepliesMy 09 Sonata LTD V6 was sometimes idling erratically (revving and slowing) after starting a cold engine. It never happened in the previous 3 winters I have owned it. I took it to the dealer for service and they said an ECM update was just released, described on the invoice as "TSB 10FL002 FOR COLD START ROUGH IDLE".
View 2 RepliesI've noticed that when I am driving my car in the morning there is a slight vibration in the car, it feels like the rear, but it could be the whole car. After I drive it for a while this vibration goes away. The vibration never comes back again until the next morning, even when the car sits at work for 8 hours the vibration doesn't appear.
It's not a violent vibration, it's very subtle but it is noticeable. I'm thinking that most likely it is my struts and shocks, I know that they probably need to be replaced soon (with our shocks being crap).
I don't think my wheels are out of alignment as the car doesn't pull to any side at all and my brakes are also good and not sticking. The car has 86K on it. What is going on and if I should be more concerned than I am or is it just worn shocks and or struts?
Every morning when I start my LX570 it starts with the idle higher that normal and then after 1 or two minutes is settles.
Along with the higher idle there is a little extra noise from the engine, after 2 minutes the noise goes away and all normal.
Is this the way they start in the morning?
I have recently noticed that my Azera makes a "knocking" sound right after starting the engine. It just about a dozen of fast short knocks one after another and it is gone after 2 seconds (like a diesel engine started on low temp. It appears more often when the engine is rather cold.

Does this necessitate a complete pulley replacement or can it be disassembled and the bearing repacked (or if necessary replaced). I am becoming concerned that the bearing may fail altogether soon.
View 11 RepliesI have been little irritated with my noisy/rattling sound ride coming from passenger dash, my steering wheel area and some time front passenger belt. I have taken it to dealership and they could not hear anything so they duplicate the problem and no cation was taken. But they found out passenger side ball joint was loose , so they replaced that under warranty.
I wanna know if everyone sonata makes that noise when you go over little bumps on road, rail track crossing ? it just irritates me too much,,how ever the rattle/noise is not much, i cant hear if i have music on.
Yesterday I tapped on passenger side dash and there was a after tapping noise, like vibration. I don't know if its loose plastic or what. I am not able to detect the exact location where the noise coming from. but i am sure one noise is coming from steering wheel on every tiny bumps.
I want to fix it by myself now, cause sometimes noise is there and sometime not. Is there any way to detect the noise ? Noise- more like plastic noise, like loose plastic, hinges squeaking sound, rattling sound.
My 2007 Honda Accord has been having a noisy power steering pump for the last 8 months. I would have changed the power steering pump however the noise only occurs in the morning- especially when its cold. I live in Southern California so its really never that cold (mid 40’s). Once I drive the car for a few miles the noise completely goes away (especially after driving high speed). Lately, the pump is making the noise every morning.
Immediately after the noise started I had the power steering fluid flushed and system bleed for air pockets. 2 months ago the dealer changed the return line on the system because of a recall on the power steering system. Still the noise continues! I noticed the power steering fluid looks a little frothy when the car is running. Don’t know if this is normal. Car has about 150k miles.
Should I change the power steering pump? Or have the fluid flushed again. What might be causing the noise? The last time I flushed the system it only stop the noise for about a month.
So this has been happening for a few months now. When the hood is closed it sounds like a fan with a bad bearing slowing down. I had the hood open today and turned the car off and it scared me. I've only ever heard it faintly since I have never turned the car off before with the hood open. It's definately ALOT louder with the hood open vs. closed...for obvious reasons... (See attached Video).

I'm facing a bit of a problem on my girlfriends dads 2009 Sonata (Non-Premium sound system). I just installed a Pioneer aftermarket head unit and am getting no sound when the car is started or when its in ACC mode. However, when the ignition is just turned to the "ON" position (first click) the head unit works flawlessly and all 4 speakers output sound. As soon as I turn it to ACC or start the car, there is no sound at all but the head unit still powers up and shows the track playing. I'm really stumped here guys. I've done literally countless head unit installations and I just can't figure this one out, nor have I ever seen this before. I thought the problem might have been a factory amp, but the head unit does not say JBL or Infinity so that leads me to believe it doesn't have a factory amp. Maybe I'm not the pro I though I was lol.
At any rate, just in-case it matters, there is a line out converter attached to the system in order to add a sub/amp to the stock head unit that I installed a few years prior to attempting the aftermarket head unit installation. I don't think that would matter but I may be wrong. I was planning to remove it and route the RCA's to the aftermarket head unit once everything was up and running.

Actually, yesterday it didn't sound as bad. Today I sprayed some BELT DRESSING on it, and NOW it sounds like this!
I own a 07 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 31000 miles. It is 20 degrees today. When I start the car up there is this knocking sound from the engine. Once the car warms up the knocking sound only happens when the car is in drive or reverse. When the car is in park or neutral it is fairly quiet. The sounds is still there but not as loud as in drive or reverse. I have done the routine synthetic blend oil changes between 3500-4500 miles.
View 14 RepliesMy 2006 sonata (3.3l) 108k miles has developed a recent problem. The oil light will come on (usually during acceleration) and then go off in a second. i guess you could call it a flicker. I also notice a helicopter sound from the engine. When I rev it up in park I don't hear it. i hear a slight rattler In the alternator area. the serpentine belt is original.
So last week my daughter got the oil changed. I noticed it was leaking oil. I checked fluids and it was fine. I noticed oil on top of the engine, I just thought they spilled some. Continued to leak. checked the oil again and it was approx. 1 3/4 quarts low. The oil light never came on. I suspected the oil filter (its on top of the engine). brought it back to jiffy lube and they said the filter was loose. they gave me a new one and filled up the oil. no ticks or engine noises were noticeable.
So my question is could the oil light be something else (maybe tied to that helicopter sound)?. is an oil light flicker always low oil pressure.
