I just got the car back from repairs, there was a loud grinding noise coming from the left side of the engine. It turned out the whole rack and pinion setup was pouring out fluids and needed to be completely replaced also while it was in there they checked out an oil leak which ended up being the front valve cover and replaced a dead O2 sensor. The car has 99,300 miles
View 6 RepliesI've got a 2006 f150 4x4 v8 ... I get a grinding noise (I think it is coming from the front left of the truck) that lasts only a little while and only comes out after a cold night (so I only get the noise in the morning after the truck has sat overnight)...
The issue details:
1. The grinding noise is constant and the truck has to be moving for it to make the noise
2. The truck will only make the noise while driving forward, it disappears when I drive in reverse
3. The truck has to sit overnight and it has to be cold (below freezing)
4. I only get the noise if I go in reverse BEFORE I drive forward after the truck sat all night
5. Will not make the noise while in 4x46. It has been doing this for about 2 months
What I tried:
1. Replaced both front wheel hubs
2. Replaced 4x4 vacuum and checked the lines for pressure
3. Front brake pads and checked calipers
4. While the truck was making the noise unplugged the 4x4 vacuum - still made the noise
I recently noticed a noise coming from the left side of the engine where the pulley's are. It sounds like a ticking noise coming from where the belt is. What the possible solution could be.
View 6 RepliesI have pushed the back windshield, and haven't gotten a peep anywhere, so it's not that. It's coming from the outside, because it is so much louder driving slower with the windows down. It appears to be coming from the rear left of the car. It's a definite "creak," and not a "thunk." Sounds like creepy stairs being walked over repeatedly...I haven't investigated hard enough to really pin point the direct spot, but it would sound to me like it has something to do with the suspension in the back left. However, it's not any more prominent when I hit a bump than it is just accelerating or decelerating, so that also leads me away from it being a suspension issue. I know I should look further into it to locate the spot.

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla and it's making a loud grinding metallic noise on the front left side. It does it while I drive the faster I go the louder it gets. When I turn to the left it makes it louder, when I turn right the noise decreases. PG&E have been breaking the roads by where I live and there's a lot of little rocks I drive thru. I'm wondering if that's the problem?? What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 Hyundai sonata, 2.4, 5 speed manual, gls, when I press down on clutch whether from a stop or when shifting, I get a loud grinding noise and the radio goes dead at same time!, I know it is the starter attempting to "engage", at least that's what I believe it to be, it also "'starts "from, the "on " position when I press on clutch.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata 3.3 V6 GLS (CDN model) with 102k km (63K miles). Recently, I am noticing a rotational metal-like grinding noise from the front left wheel / engine area when engaging in hard right and left turns - usually a long looped highway on-ramp or sharp 90 degree turns. The interesting thing is this only happens when I am accelerating through the turns - when I left off the gas and cruise I don't hear it anymore.
On the side, I am also getting a single clunk noise when shifting from Park to Drive and vice versa from the same area (front left wheel) - not sure if this is related (i.e. if this is all related to a failing CV joint or wheel bearing).
I am running into issues with my 3GS recently I am hearing loud ticking noise coming from the left side on the front of my car and from what most of people have told me is it might be my Axle or my wheel bearing so was wondering what the part number was for both of them and what is the best place to order these two parts from.

View 1 RepliesMy 2006 Sonata GLS 3.3 started dripping water the other day from the ceiling handle. The drain hoses do not appear to be plugged, water runs freely out. I pulled off the headliner around the place of the leak, and I can kind of see a plastic attachment with the drain hose on the corner of the sunroof frame. The water is coming from somewhere from it, but not from the hose attachment.
My question is, Do I have to replace the sunroof frame? Is it difficult to do? Or can I get away epoxying around the leak if it's small enough? In any case, how hard is it to remove the headliner?
I have a 2009 Sonata (4 cyl) with 110,000 miles.I have a loud roaring noise coming from my right front end. Jacked car up several times, all seems very tight and wheel spins smoothly. This has been going on for over 5000 miles and I have been waiting for the ailment to show its self more clearly in order to diagnose. sound does not change when turning in either direction or breaking. sound increases with speed and is quite loud at 55mph. Had to replace a tire and put it on the right front to see if it was tire wear and there was no change. sounds like loud road noise.

Shifted to reverse and car barely moved, less than 1 foot, which was accompanied by the loud grinding sound, then stopped. I could find nothing interfering with the wheels but did find pieces of brake pad on the ground along the path the left front wheel had followed. The left front wheel appeared as if the calipers were holding whatever remained of the brake pad and/or backing tight against the rotor. brake pad fell apart on 2002 at 43,561 miles...
View 19 RepliesI have a 2006 Rav4 and every time I drive my car after it's been sitting for a while there is a very loud noise coming from the rear of the car, the noise usually lasts about 10 to 20 seconds and only happens when I press on the accelerator, and is always when I go forward, never in reverse. The noise is usually louder when it is humid or it is raining.
View 13 RepliesI've been hearing a rhythmic, metallic ringy grinding noise coming from the driver side front end of the car that seems to be in time with wheel rotation. It happens between 5 and 40mph, worsens while the steering wheel is turned even the slightest to the right, goes away completely during left turns, reduces and becomes intermittent above 45mph, and between 0 and 5mph, as I turn the wheel to the right from any position, I hear squeaking. I recently had the front control arm, ball joints and struts replaced. It has 140k miles. What could it be?
View 4 RepliesI have a problem with the steering. Sometimes a clicking noise is coming out from the front left side when I sharply turn the wheels or hit the brake. The car was in a local garage today and they couldn't find the problem. 2 mechanics checked the suspension, cv joint, axle, wheel bearing... also 1 of them driven the car and found nothing. Tomorrow I show them the clip below.

What it could be?
I owned a 99 f250 a little while ago. Just bought a 2006 crewcab F150 xlt about 2 months ago, and for the past month there has been this unusual grinding or whirring like noise coming from the front passenger side wheel.
I took it to the mechanic and he found a bad wheel bearing on drivers side and replaced it but that wasn't the issue. He could hear the noise but wasn't able to figure out what the actual issue was.
The noise only happens when my foot is on the throttle. (not when coasting) and i also just discovered that it doesn't make any noise at all when put in 4x4.
Ok in the last couple weeks I noticed when I am going left in a curve a grinding screeching sound from what sounds like my left front. It only does it when I am in a curve going left. It wont do it going right or just even turning a corner left just a slight turn.
View 2 RepliesRecently when I first start my car in the morning, there is a rattling noise, which sounds like it's coming from the driver's side of the engine bay, or possibly just under the drivers side door. It only lasts for a couple of minutes. It will increase I accelerate, and then decrease as soon as I lift off the gas. After a couple minutes, the rattling goes away, and everything is right in the world. Today I drove it around the block and parked while it was still rattling away. When I put it in park the rattling went away. I put it back in drive and it came back. Then as usual it finally went away whether in drive or park. I'm completely stumped on this one. It's an '08 2.4l GLS and has 138,000 miles.
View 9 RepliesI drive a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. I currently have a slight grinding noise (or maybe more of a low growling) when I make left turns. This happened in the not-so-distant past and it was an issue with the power steering hoses (one had rusted through), so we (and by "we," I mean my fantastic father) changed it out. I thought this time it may just be low power steering fluid, but after checking it, I can say it's not low. I'd think if a hose was the culprit again, the fluid would be low. What we should look into?
View 1 RepliesWhen driving I hear, not feel, a slight thumping noise that if I had to guess would say is coming from the passenger side front. When I let off the gas the noise becmes more prominent and you can feel the thumping. Also when I apply the brakes heavily the sound/feel goes back to the same as if I was driving. I'm thinking CV joint/axles or spindle bearings, but I cant understand why the condition is at it's worst when I'm coasting. Has this "noise while coasting" problem.
