Last night on my way home I was cruising took a wrong turn and had to make a u turn. While making the turn i noticed a light rubbing scrapping noise when i had my wheel turned to the passenger side. I got out made sure nothing was suck to the wheel or under the car. Heard it all the way home, got up this morning checked car again nothing seemed wrong drove to school noise was gone.

View 12 RepliesLast night pulling into a parking lot, I caught something on the lip of the entrance and there was a loud clunk. Naturally I looked for a different exit from the parking lot, but there wasn't one and on the way out I hit it again. Since then, I've had a loud scraping/rubbing/rattling noise whenever I'm off the accelerator. I haven't been able to get under the car to check things out, but my suspicion is that the resonator is rubbing on the driveshaft, and when I push the gas, the resonator moves down out of the way.
View 1 RepliesAt 120k miles, my 2003 Camry LE 2.4L started to make some noise when making sharp right turn at low speed (below 5mph) going forward. It sounds like the tire rubbing the fender or somewhere, not metallic, and it's periodic, at 2-3Hz or so. It comes from somewhere on the driver side but I'm not sure. The car doesn't make noise when turning at stop or backing up or going straight, and the noise seems to disappear if turning at higher speed (maybe the turn is not sharp enough).
First I suspect the tire is rubbing the fender. But after inspection, no rubbing marks can be found, and there seems no rubbing when the car is parked and the wheel turn all the way to the right. Then I suspect a bad CV axle. But the boots seem in good shape with no leaking grease, and there's no noise when backing up.
I discovered a few weeks ago that my 2009 Sonata 2.4L SE had a sticking caliper on the rear driver's side. It had gone bad on the passenger side as well, but not as bad. I had the calipers, rotors, and pads replaced on the rear yesterday. As soon as that was done, I started hearing a noise when braking that sounded like a rubbing noise, almost like a long "sigh." It happened at any speed as long as I pressed the pedal far enough to bring the vehicle almost to a complete stop.
I originally thought the calipers weren't the right fit, but the parts I confirmed the parts I ordered (Nastra) through Rock Auto were correct. I've driven about 80 miles since then and nothing has changed. I didn't see anything wrong when I took the tire off, but I don't think this sound is normal. Taking it in to the mechanic tomorrow. Could it be a wheel bearing? Wrong parts?
Folks, my '07 SE has developed something interesting, and it's being a pain to diagnose. When I'm driving freeway speeds, whenever I make a right hand turn, I hear a low hum, and feel a slight vibration in my steering wheel. I know wheel bearings tend to vibrate all the time when going bad, but this one has me scratching my head. It also won't do it at lower speeds.

I have had my car looked at twice in the past 3 months. The first place told me a need a new rack and pinion, and the second said my tires being low was the only issue. My car will go weeks sometimes without making the noise, and then suddenly start again.

View 9 RepliesTook my car to the garage needed new back rotors and brakes on my 2010 sonata. I have about 27000 miles on the car. Car is now making a funny noise when I back up ,took it back to shop and he said I needed to break in the brakes. Okay a week and a half later still making that noise!
Nervous because I found out after sitting for two hours in the shop that they were short handed and had to wait for a delivery because they ordered the wrong brakes from the auto parts store. Yes I know ..but I did not want to go to the dealer so I gave firestone a shot.
When i make a left turn i can hear a rubbing sound thats like a low groan. Searched it but couldn't really find one that was described this way. It's a 20th GTI.
View 22 RepliesI only hear it at low speeds, but I guess that's to be expected. I've heard a similar noise before with other cars/trucks, but I can't recall what causes it. Just looking on tips for where to start looking with the front end parts or wheel/caliper assembly.
Also, but not sure it's related, had a lot of front end wobble when I applied the brakes coming down steep hills last week while pulling a big, but empty, gooseneck trailer. I assumed warped rotors, but later, after I had picked up my load, it quit doing it, albeit I had started babying the brakes. Still, there was one instance of very hard braking and it didn't do it at all, but that was on straight pavement.
It's almost as if having that empty trailer and/or going down a steep hill caused it, and not anything on the truck. But the rubbing sound started before that wobbling. Whatcha think?
2009 Sonata 2.4 AT 111,000 miles and at start up sometimes I hear a squealing noise from the transmission for a few minutes and then it goes away...

View 14 RepliesMy 2.4L engine is making a clanking noise while running. When I checked the oil level today, it was low by about 1.5 quarts. There's no check engine light.
Car has 74K miles now. I purchased the car two years ago with 35K miles. I have always performed regular maintenance myself. The car had its oil control valve replaced at 55K miles.

Recently my engine started making a rattling noise. It does not matter if the engine is warm or cold. In either condition it produces the same noise. The noise can be best heard at the back of the engine. My car is a Sonata 2.4 GLS from 2006 and has roughly 110000km on the odometer.

My A/C has been making a loud noise for a couple months now ,only when I put the A/C on the highest setting. I was LONG overdue for a cabin air filter change so I bought a new one and while I was down there I looked inside the blower motor and here's what I saw... It is now blowing fine and not making a noise . Sprayed some Ozium New Car spray on the new cabin air filter and my car is smelling great now !

My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?

Since then my rear end has been making a creaking/squeeking noise while driving or pushing on the car side to side. The struts seem to be ok, there is no bounce in the car. What this could be? I was thinking some sort of bushing somewhere?

Only 1 problem, every time I make a left turn my car makes this weird noise but I don't know what it is. I replaced my suspension and I thought it would take a couple days for the tightness to wear down and for the noise to go away, but of course with my luck it's still doing it. What can it be??
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 Sonata V6 that I bought new. It has a little less than 50K on it. I tried to start it today and it made a terrible noise then died seconds later. I popped the hood and then started it again and the engine was shaking violently in the engine compartment and making a terrible knocking noise. I had driven it 12 hours earlier and it ran fine. I called a tow truck and had it taken to the dealer but if I know my dealer, since it is Sunday they probably wont get to it until Tuesday. Also, this car has had the signature V6 valve cover leak that has been fixed 3 times. I noticed it was leaking again about a month ago and I have just been checking the oil and adding it as it needs it. I dont think the engine ran out of oil because I checked it before the tow truck came and it was between low and full.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
