Sonata NF (2006-10) :: In Cabin Air Filter Tabs Were Broken
Sep 27, 2013
So I've been getting that nasty, musky odor in my 2006 Sonata. I just purchased it used last December, so don't know when the cabin air filter was last changed. I had to do this with my Camry not too long ago, so I still have the spray to try on it if the filter isn't too old/dirty. The problem:
When I lowered the glovebox to get to the cabin air filter, one of the tabs was broken off. I figured no big deal. I pressed on the other three and they all broke off. My husband tried to get it out, but no luck. I'm afraid of damaging it if I try to pry it out and even if I succeed, do I have to do that every time I need to get to the filter? Where I would find a new housing?

I bought the car with it a bit over 3 months ago, that was the only problem and simply couldn't pass the deal. Even used car dealer didn't know what it was.
You can only hear it when you go over 50-55+ mph and it comes from cabin air filter area.
I already changed cabin air filter, the other day I replaced filter tray as well due to broken clips. Cleaned the whole area real good and still can't get it to stop whining.

Not sure if there is a post for this, but I could not find one.
I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.

When I replaced the cabin air filter recently, I noticed the little latch loop on the left hand side bottom was broken. I just put it together and it does not rattle.

I just completed the spark plug change on my wife's '07 RX350. As the numerous threads on this topic point out, this is one serious undertaking. I'm not claiming to be a mechanic but have done my share of DIY's including changing the usual oil/filter, brake discs/pads, serpentine belt, rear hatch switch and now the spark plugs on my wife's car and the same or similar on all of my other cars. This has got to be the single most difficult project that I've tackled recently. I did fail to do the front Mac struts but this was because I didn't appear to have the right spring compressor. Go figure.
Anyhow, I found that I needed to remove the front windshield cowl to get access to that infamous third stay bolt.
To my question ... I managed to break off the tabs that lock the connector to the ignition coil on about three spark plugs. I'm concerned about these eventually vibrating off. Should I be concerned about this? Do I need to now go in and change these? Or, tie-wrap then in place?

Car: 2007 2.4L Hyundai Sonata 76k miles
Problem: All of a sudden my car has developed an intermittent smoky smell in the cabin (I'm NOT a smoker). There are no check engine lights on and the car is running fine. The smell is not the classic "hot engine block" smell of the car overheating (which it is not according to the gauge). The smell I am getting is a hot smoky smell, doesn't smell like rubber either. No visible smoke in the cabin or the engine compartment.
Smell usually shows up after driving the car for around 2 minutes, but can vary and sometime not show up at all. The only thing that I can comment is a chirping sound from the pulleys that seems to be associated with humidity (power steering, radiator, etc) and the A/C blower intermittently not working (have not had any issues in past 3 months). How I can diagnose this?

Sonata 2007, SE, V6 3.3 engine, 110000m .... I was driving today on a highway and 5 miles from home notice no hot air coming in cabin. Outside temp was 20 degree. Accidentally AC button must been pushed since the light was on. Engine temp gauge was off and few times it jumped from off (as in completely cold engine) to overheated (max top value). Drove back home and let it cool. I can see there is no coolant left. Obvious there is leak somewhere but the only visible spot is on the passenger side, towards the front of the engine compartment - seems like the leak is from the AC coolant hose between the front and the low pressure service port - or the AC pressure transducer.
Antifreeze can be seen under that part, but is clear that it has not come from the overflow reservoir or any main hose. Is there antifreeze flowing on those parts or should I look at somewhere else? Coolant splash seems too high to be from the water pump - definitely seems as leak from above on one of the hoses or the A/C Pressure transducer. Can this be the primary reason or this is just safety due to other (thermostat or other) issue with the cooling system? What can be done?

About month ago, my cabin lights stopped coming on when I open the door. I can turn the lights on, so it is not bulbs. It's a pain to come home at night and not have the lights come on for a few minutes as I get out of the car.

Where is the fuel tank air filter located? If you will look in your maint. log or owners manual for the four cyl. under emmissions control you will find the fuel tank air filter to be inspected at 15000 miles and changed at 30000 miles.

Maybe I'm paranoid but after changing just the oil filter, the engine started to make nasty noises for 5 seconds. Could this be symptoms of a dry startup? If you didn't read the thread, I changed the oil filter only because the Bosch oil filter was making my engine noisy. I changed to OEM Hyundai filter. I even put engine oil in the filter before inserting it into the engine. Does dry startup happen to all cars after changing the oil filter?
I came across another thread this morning after encountering the same issue with a Bosch filter (the cloth one) It doesn't have a lip on the top/bottom and uses a fiber on both ends instead (Which I'm assuming is causing a dry start). I also encountered some nasty noise on startup after installing this filter for the first time (usually use WIX/Fram Extra Guard) as per availability. Bosch just has a different design (cloth on the ends compared to plastic lip). I suppose I'll be picking up a new filter after class today.

this noise start like 4 month ago. I have taken the car to two mechanics and they weren't able to find where the noise is coming from. i suppose that the problem isnt really that tricky.
is kind hard to describe the nature of the sound.
mostly happen when i go over broken road or bumps where the suspension have to move up and down a little but very quickly

Driver's inside door handle no longer opens door. Need to lower window and open from outside. 2009 Sonata GL?
Apparently the plastic connector/retainer to the door latch cable is broken off so that the handle no longer moves the cable.
Does the replacement door handle come with the connector/retainer to the latch cable?
To complete this repair, does the whole inner door panel have to removed or simply the assembly around the door handle?
