Sonata NF (2006-10) :: GLS Has Clicking Noise While Turning?

Just wondering what would cause a clicking type of noise while make a turn? I drive a 06 Sonata GLS.

View 6 RepliesWhen I accelerate from stop the left wheel it like makes a "clicking" noise as the car starts accelerating, once in motion there is no "clicking". What might cause it?
View 6 RepliesWhen I am sitting at a dead standstill and I turn the wheel lock to lock, left or right, I hear a clicking sound. The clicking is louder inside the car, but I can't tell if it's coming from the steering column or the various linkages in the suspension or drive systems.
If I drive in circles, with the wheel at a constant (or changing) angle, there are no clicks, so I don't think this is a CV joint issue.
What could be causing this noise? I really don't want to take off my lowering springs and restore this thing to the original configuration for a warranty repair visit to the dealership.
If I do, you may see a fire sale of H&R 20mm wheel adapters and B&G lowering springs in the near future.
I bought a second hand Sonata NF 2006. Excellent car. At the beginning to me was hard to tell if the car were running or started because of the silence and non-vibration at all.
but, recently I think that I can hear a little click click noise, no the normal one, another and some vibration on the steering wheel that wasn't there before.
I posted in this thread originally: [URL] .....
But today I had my wife drive the car and take some slow left turns while I listened so I could get a better idea about what the sound was and where it was coming from. From inside the garage and in the car, it sounded like it was coming from the rear but I now know it's coming from the front passenger wheel and it is not a "grinding" sound at all, it's more of a tick-tick-tick/click-click-click sound.
Applying brakes doesn't change the frequency or quality of the sound, but speed does. The faster the wheel turns, the frequencly of the ticking increases. It doesn't appear to tick/click only once per revolution, it clicks a number of times throughout the rotation and at some points during the rotation it clicks more often than others. Like, tick.... tick... tickticktick...tick...
When going straight there is no noise, turning right, it sometimes might click once or something but it doesn't really happen turning the other way. I've looked at the dust shield around and even tried bending it back a little bit in case it was making contact when I thought it was more of a grind but nothing looks out of place and nothing has been done to the wheel recently other than putting new rims on a couple of months ago.
Wheel bearing? I thought a bad wheel bearing would make noise no matter what direction you're going and pretty much constantly. CV? I thought CV ticking usually only happens at full lock but it ticks even on not so severe turning. Fender liner doesn't appear to be touching the tire, and the car isn't dropped and is AWD so there's plenty of clearance.
So, is this a trip to the dealer? I'm only under powertrain... not sure if something is up if it would be covered. I think wheel bearings are, but not sure about other suspension parts that might cause this.
My car engine is G4KD 2.0 L 2009, no shift interlocking mechanism installed (I don't have the small button near the gear box to release it) also I am able to shift from P to anything else while the car not turned on, and I can shift without the brake.
2 weeks ago, I started to hear click noise (I am not sure if it was there before, maybe it got louder) when I switch from P to R, and from N to D, my car is on 80000 Km and didn't replace the gear box oil (dealer said oil is fine).
Car run smoothly but I am curious why I have this click.
I have a 2006 hyundai sonata 3.3L V6. Only happens on a cold start. I'll start the car and it won't tick while at idle. But as I drive away ill hear it for maybe about 2 mins only maybe in first gear until the car slightly warms up and then it's gone completely.
View 30 RepliesI have clicking noise coming from the accessory drive on my 3.3L 06 sonata. It started off as a squeaky noise upon start up. I have since replaced the belt and the tensioner and now it is a clicking/ticking noise. It seems to be a lot worse when the car is just started and it slowly goes away upon warming up. In addition, when the car is cold the voltage light will turn on around sharp turns and steering will get hard (almost like something is putting drag on the belt). What it could be?
View 2 RepliesI recently replaced my starter pin my Hyundai Sonata 06 v6 3.3 gls. Installing it was no real issue, but one (there is only one a single wire not the one that you fix on with a bolt and nut) of the electrical connectors from the car to the starter solenoid. The plastic around the conductor pretty much crumbled around my finger, what this connector is called specifically. Now the contacts will not contact properly so i suspect this the source of the rapid clicking issue, since my battery was fully charged. I plan to go to the junkyard too if i can find a replacement. Looking for specifics on the electrical connector?
View 1 RepliesI have been getting this scraping noise coming from my front passenger side tire. At first it would only happen during the winter time and has gotten progressively worse. Now it will do it during left turns and at very low speeds when I'm turning the wheel also.... I checked to see if the tire was getting hot, and if there was anything hanging underneath, and found nothing.
View 1 RepliesHit a long 4x4 post on the freeway and bent a front rim. Was able to miss most of it but hit it with the right tires. It didn't hit anything under the car that I can tell. Got a new rim and moved the TPMS and tire to the new rim. Back wheel looks ok. Still have a low pressure light. TPMS was lit when I had the bad wheel out of the car but is now out.
Have previously had trouble with another wheel giving a warning when it was only a pound or two low. Checked all the wheels and added a few pounds to each and still have the light.
How do I troubleshoot the TPMS? How long should the batteries last - is this just normal life of the sensors? It's a 2009 model.
Also have some noise and rattles I didn't have before. Not when going straight but when turning and accelerating at the same time. Hoping its just some shields and nothing too serious... I looked and didn't see anything obviously loose so I need to dig into it a bit more.
I have already concluded I need to replace my OCV on my 2007 2.4L GLS Sonata.
I have also been starting to hear a clicking noise associated with reducing throttle when in the 2500-3100 rpm range. It seems to only make this quiet clicking noise when the throttle is reducing and within the RPM range from above.
I am just wondering if this may be associated with the OCV needing to be replaced. I suppose I will find out for sure when I do finally get around to replacing the OCV sometime this month.
I have owned this 2009 Sonata for a year now..in the past month whenever I am at a stop and go to drive (at slower speeds is when its noticed) you hear a slight click sound from the rear. I took it to a local fix it shop today and they said the sway bar link on the left rear side was bent (from a fender bender since repaired). Well this did not fix the issue. They also said my rear brakes have 30% wear left in them. Do you think for any reason this would be the clicking? The noise happens as well when Im backing out of my garage...at low speeds.
View 14 RepliesI did a search on all three of these and did not find anything.
1) Odd noise coming from steering column while turning.
2) Vanity mirror on driver's side, the lid/flap thingy does not stay open.
3) Trunk only opens when using key. Using FOB of door button does not work. You can hear movement but it does not open.
I have a problem with the steering. Sometimes a clicking noise is coming out from the front left side when I sharply turn the wheels or hit the brake. The car was in a local garage today and they couldn't find the problem. 2 mechanics checked the suspension, cv joint, axle, wheel bearing... also 1 of them driven the car and found nothing. Tomorrow I show them the clip below.
Hyundai Sonata Steering Noise - YouTube ....
What it could be?
I am getting a click from the steering when rocking the wheel left or right. It is coming from the assembly the intermediate shaft is connected to. I see there is a large bearing on the end where the shaft comes out. I am not sure what this assembly is called. I have had it at the dealer and they said they re-torqued everything but they could not duplicate it.
I do not fall in the range for the recall and I have no problem with the car pulling left so I do not think it has anything to do with the intermediate shaft. It is clearly from the assembly the intermediate shaft is connected to on the steering wheel end of the intermediate shaft. 2011 limited
I just bought a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. Today I noticed that when I turn the key into the last position before starting (when the air/heat and radio work, but the engine isn't started), I hear a clicking sound coming from the front of the car. The clicks start as soon as I put the key into that position. After about 5-6 quick clicks in 2-5 seconds, it stops. The clicking is the same every time. It sounds exactly like when you're igniting a gas stove.
Just to be clear, the car starts fine. There is no clicking when I'm turning the key far enough for the engine to turn over. It's only when I put it in the last position for radio/ac/heat. Is this normal? I never noticed it with my other car.
My car now occasionally makes a click (actually closer to a clunk because you can even feel it a little through the fire wall and steering wheel) when turning the wheel to the right. It doesn't matter if the car is moving or not. It doesn't do it all the time, only occasionally.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2010 Sonata GLS that isn't starting. I have full battery and plenty of gas. It doesn't click or anything, but all of the lights and electrical equipment work fine. Is there a common problem with this car that causes it not to start?
View 24 RepliesSearch of AF did not turn up any results. My 02 Silverado 4x4 Crew Cab 6.0 has begun to make a clicking noise when I am driving at low speed, and making any kind of turn to the right. This is in 2 wheel drive. No noise when driving straight. If I am driving through the neighborhood , (say, 20-25 mph), and the road curves gently to the right, I can hear an occasional/intermittent click noise, which sounds like it is coming from the LF wheel. It might give a single click every half second or so, sometimes 2 or 3 quick clicks, then silent for a second or 2, then a few more. If it is more heavily loaded, such as sharper turn, or more speed while turning, it is significantly worse, (more frequent clicks, almost constant).
Likewise, if I am at low speed, and turning more sharply, (such as a 90* right turn at an intersection, from a stop), it is almost constant repeat clicking until the wheel is straightened out. I am guessing it is possibly a u-joint on the left side half-shaft (or whatever it is called), that connects the transfer case to the LF hub? Almost sounds like needle bearings beginning to fail, is the best way I can think of to describe the sound. Even though I am in 2wd, the hubs do not unlock, so the front axles are always turning.
Hoping it is not front hub bearing going bad. I just got reassigned back to Dallas, and I will be driving the truck 800 miles to get there this weekend. I have maintained the truck very well, with the exception of having never even really looked at the front driveline components. (That ignorance could be haunting me now, or maybe just stuff that has worn out).
I only use the 4 wheel drive about 6-10 times per year, usually only for a mile or so to get to maintained roads. Never in 4x4 on dry roads, I switch back to 2WD as soon as possible.
I have a 03 Dakota 4x4 that is rumbling badly from the right front. The rumbling increases and gets louder steadily with speed, transfers slightly through the steering column, and goes away when turning right and taking the weight off the right front tire. It is also doing this when in 2WD. I have replaced the bearing hub assembly but that didnt fix it. I have also pulled out the CV axle, but am unable to tell if this is the problem. I'm also not finding any worn bushings or ball joints, or at least not enough wear to justify this horrid sound.
It is my understanding that a worn CV will produce a clicking noise when turning. I haven't noticed this at all, yet I can't imagine what other moving parts could be causing this rumbling. I have also taken a look at the spline on the differential, and other than the normal tiny bit of movement, it looks fine.
