2006 with 110K. I did a search for rattles. My question is do these struts have bushings or shims that wear out over time. Going down the road car is nice and quiet. Hit some bumps and it sounds like it is coming apart.
View 5 RepliesNoticed a rattling sound from the front end of the car when hitting certain types of bumps/rough road. Turns out my right front stabilizer bar needs replacing. Dealer has ordered part, and it's covered under warranty. However, I thought stabilizer bars were supposed to be replaced in pairs. Do I need to ask them to replace both the front right and left, or is just replacing the right ok?
View 9 RepliesWhen coming to a stop and turning the wheels to the left, there is a creaking noise from the right front strut. This is also the strut that has an ever so small clunking noise when going over small bumps at low speeds. If I turn left at low speeds but don't apply the brakes, there is no creaking sound.
Car has 42,000 miles, original Michelins and original front brakes (50% pad left), and original struts!
I notice the door rattles a lot now, more noticeably over bumps. Also, I don't really turn my music that loud, but when it is I can hear the rattle as well. Any quick fixs for this? Or would it be easier to get the dealer to try to fix this during my 5000 mile maintenance?
View 6 RepliesI own a 2014.5 Camry SE, 4 cyl, 17 inch wheels. 2 months ago I had the right front strut and strut cap replaced, it had a loud popping noise in the r/front, the weird thing was the noise was present with 2 or more people in the car, when I was alone really couldn't hear it. Well I still don't hear the loud popping like it had but there is still a single pop noise over big bumps at low speeds, like a speed bump. I also have the winding up noise in parking lot turning, also only with people in the car, not when I'm alone. The new strut was obviously new, the new strut cap looks identical to the old one, same paint marks as the left side, my invoice shows a strut and mount replaced. I'm at 31000 miles, should I wait a few thousand miles to see if it gets worse? I feel even right after they replaced it there was still some noise in the r/front, I'm generally in my car alone, I'm pretty cautious over speed bumps and the like, my car is driven 80% highway. They only replaced the right front , no left side strut or mount.
View 3 RepliesFor the past year I've had the front end squeaks and crunching from my 06 Sonata LX with 97k miles. It started with just going over bumps, then progressed to basically any movement of the body up and down. It's worse in the cold, but an issue all year.
I just did shocks and struts all around, with the mounts. Didn't affect the sounds at all. At 97k, the original shocks/struts were woefully dead. At least the car rides 10x better now.
Yesterday I changed out the sway bar end links with Moog K80949's. It does sound like some of the "crunching" is gone, and now we're back to just squeaking. I think even some of the constant squeaking over fairly normal roads is gone.
So, what's up next? The FSM suggest the lower control arm, which I'd prefer not to do. Sway bar bushings could be an option, but they looked kind of like a PITA to get to.
this noise start like 4 month ago. I have taken the car to two mechanics and they weren't able to find where the noise is coming from. i suppose that the problem isnt really that tricky.
is kind hard to describe the nature of the sound.
mostly happen when i go over broken road or bumps where the suspension have to move up and down a little but very quickly
Hyundai Sonata 2006 Front susp noise
Have all kinds of front end knocks and clunks going over bumps and when stepping on the brakes when backing up. Looking to make a parts list to replace everything at once. I see the upper control arm has 2 bushings and a ball joint, the lower control arm has a bunch of bushings and a ball joint. What else should I replace?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2005 1500 Silverado z71 that has started producing a squalling noise in the front pass side when hitting decent bumps during hunting season. This noise can also be reproduced when bouncing the pass front side. It has 99,000 miles. I'm assuming this is the front pass. shock. The truck came with Black and Red shocks. What brand is this? Also, from what I have read Blistens are most peoples replacement choice. I see they make a HD (4600) model and a (5100) model. My ride is stock height. If this is the problem and what brand/model to replace with? Doesn't Z71's have gas shocks and would this influence which brand to use?
View 3 RepliesI got some coilovers installed last night, they are ksports. i have them on fairly low height as of now but i have noticed every time I hit bumps, I hear a kthunk (metal hitting metal noise) from my front driver side. is it from the coilover nuts itself or something wrong with my control arm? the sound ONLY comes from the front DRIVER side.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 460 awd with adjustable suspension and when making a right turn the front left side makes a noise. I have had the dealer look at it 5 times or more but each time I am told that there are no problems. Now that the weather is getting colder it is becoming more pronounced.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.

Since I can hear it so clearly I'm leaning towards its the dash or something behind the dash, It seems to be coming from the drivers side.What could it be?
View 6 RepliesThis thread is about suspension though. Ever since installing my B&G coils my car has been making all kinds of funny noises. Originally I realized that the the top nuts for my struts were not nearly tight enough... which led to one of my struts having about 6 or 7 threads completely stripped from rubbing against the mount and not being tight. Completely disassembled the front shocks, made sure everything was kosher, and filled the passenger side with some washers before tightening everything down like a mofo (by hand, no air!) a few weeks ago. All was good.
Now, flash forward to now and it rattles all the time. Driving straight is usually when it makes noise. I immediately assumed it was loose top bolts as I had the same noise previously. I went down to buy some loctite and more tools so I could do the fix myself. Upon inspection, the bolts are still tight as hell. Tightening them rotates the spring, I can feel feel it pop if I rotate my ratchet far enough as the spring finally gives from rotation.
I checked the sway bars, axels, etc.... and nothing. I even went so far as to wrap everything down there in blue masking tape, put the wheel back on, drove around a while (made the noise like 20 times) and then jacked the car up to look again... not a single scratch on the tape. Some of it was still not even 100% pressed down. So my axels, sway bar, etc... have nothing to do with this (at least rubbing wise).
After doing all kinds of research both here and in the MKV forum, I've decided that this is probably due to foobar strut bearings. I ordered some SKF ones from DBC and hope that they come soon... but until then I am still uneasy (duh, this car is my life) and can't stop obsessively thinking about it. Now I am beginning to doubt that it is the strut bearings because most people seem to only have the noise issue when turning their wheels. I have the noise issue all of the time, except when I am driving on the freeway.
I have a 2007 sonata, 4cyl, and just installed new KYB340022 gas,,, front struts. No other work was performed, just new strut installation. ABS and ESC warnings lights are now on since installation.

I was told not to worry about the sound because its just the engine cover rattling a bit, but it is rather annoying. It makes quite a racket. Should I just take the cover off?
My 2010 Camry was great the first two winters. Now after the windshield was replaced this summer, the dash rattles against the windshield when it is below 45 degrees and hitting a bump. The same rattle is heard from one A pillar too. Is this related to the windshield replacement or the age of the Camry? It would to determine if I should get another windshield replacement or wedge foam for rattle abatement.

In addition to replacing it recommended getting a strut mount installed as well. Is this an necessary component at the age of my car or can just replacing the strut do the trick?

If so where would I start to look to try to fix this issue or how to lessen the feel. Also is there anyway to make the steering wheel more stiff it shakes while hitting a considerable speed.
